A lazy day that required some effort!

Sunday, October 26, 2008

I had a very lazy day today, a lovely serenity Sunday. Spent some time having a chat with God and then reading some internet research items, and played a couple of rounds of a word game.

Garry and I went out to the hardware store to price out and look for ideas for doing some further finishing in the family room. We'd like to reface the fireplace. It's red brick and very unattractive...we'd like to reface with a nice stone of some sort.

Worked a bit on Shy's afghan and then sat and ate a whole bowl of microwave popcorn...which made me feel unhappy with myself. I don't usually crave snacks like this, but guess it was just my guides way of getting me up off my duff and motivating me to go for a nice walk. Which is exactly what Shy and I did. We went for a lovely brisk walk for 30 minutes. Temperature is dropping so it was on the nippy side....a good thing, cause it made us walk a wee bit faster! lol.

My positives:
A lovely day to just be and appreciate the blessings in my life.
An opportunity to share some positives with someone else.
Working on Shy's afghan...almost done. I'm on the last ball of wool now!
A beautiful brisk walk, helped me to re-connect with nature and got me moving.
Garry and I spending some time together, even if it was at the hardware store! lol.

Have a blessed and wonderful evening. Don't forget to do your challenges and keep on focusing on all those positives.

Wanda, what a lovely day! I hope we get to see a photo of Shy's afghan! I love knitting and really miss it...realized that yesterday when I watch a young man spinning yarn at a crafts fair. The nip in the air...It's chilly here, too, this a.m. but I'm planning on getting a walk in sometime today...not sure if it will be this a.m., but at least when I get home!

Hugs, Mauri

Wanda - Your choice of snacks could've been much worse. Microwave popcorn isn't that horrible! Unless it was saturated with butter & salt.

I had the "urge" to walk last night kind of late so got my shoes on & out the door I went. After a nice 45 min. walk I felt refreshed so I know the feeling you had.

Can't wait to see your finished project on the fireplace someday! Love ya, Marla

Glad you had a very serene day.

You always make the best of everything even eating a bowl of popcorn.

Got to go start making that list.

Well my day started with a boom!

Friday, October 24, 2008

Not a great start to anyone's day here today.
The power did two big blips and the computers lost power for a few seconds at the same time we experienced a very loud boom. Took a few minutes to try and figure out what had happened. Turned on the radio to find out that there had been a massive explosion of the AT Plastics plant about 3 miles down the road from where we are located. Apparently there will be great shots on the news tonight as the traffic helicopter was flying over head when the explosion occured, scared the willies out of them I'm sure. Anyway families are in need of your prayers today. The explosion was felt and heard as far as 10 miles away. Praise God, as yet no fatalities. 9 injuries, 5 minor, 3 critical but stable and only 1 critical and unstable. Chemical burns and inhalations. I don't doubt that the percussion from the explosion knocked out windows of some of the closer buildings, but will know more on the news tonight.

God's hand was upon those working there. There very well could have been more in the running for fatality. With God's grace, there won't be any.
Our computer system restored itself, no power outages longer than seconds.
It's Friday...YAY!
Shyra proudly drove herself to work today and will drive herself home again! Mom's taxi has a much reduced schedule!
I am almost caught up from being away on holidays.
Next week is Halloween, our department costumes are almost ready for Friday. Our department is all dressing up the same. We are books, and on the fronts of our shirts were are ironing on MARC records that describe each of us. Should be fun. I will try and get some pictures to share.

Have a spectacular Fabulous Friday....toot your own horns, you are worth the praise.

Wanda, prayers are flying towards all those affected by the explosion - and their families.

Way to go, Shyra! I remember in my first drive after getting my license, my dad was in the car. As we drove down a street near home, that was narrow with parking on both sides, I got so nervous, I closed my eyes! Luckily my dad was with me to force them open!!! YIKES!

Wanda - I'm continuing to hold the people involved in my prayers. Thank God no fatalities. Like you said, it could've been much, much worse.

So glad Shy is driving herself around now. You can take your taxi sign down now! With the price of gas I'm sure this will help too!

I hope your weekend is a great one! Enjoy whatever you're going to be doing. Love you, Marla

I will certainly keep those injured in my prayers. What a terrible accident!
I'm wondering how Shy felt on her first big solo "flight". How exciting.

Wanda, have a great weekend. I will be back to report when company leaves. I'll keep you and the team with me as I go about my "big weekend" and your positive spirits will enrich my good time! Thanks for all the support.
Much Love, Nancy (the birthday girl) emoticonit's all about me.

She did it!

Thursday, October 23, 2008

Our Shyra finally got up the courage to take her driver's test and she PASSED! Yay, Mom's taxi will not be in such constant use anymore...a little sad, as I enjoyed the chatting time. But excited for her also, we'll just have to find and create other chatting times.
When I got home from work, Shy and I drove down to the insurance office so that Shy could be added onto Kaeli car insurance. Kaeli had left a letter with the agency that Shy would be able to drive her car while she is away. Now she is all legal and ready to drive herself to work tomorrow. Another milestone reached in our baby's life.
We stopped at the mall on the way home to celebrate with the purchase of a steamed milk...our favorite treat.

My positives.
Shy got her license, she's had her learners for 5 years!
A chance to chat with a couple of friends at the Chapters store today.
A busy day at work,
A steamed milk treat.
My spark friends who without even trying bless me everyday with how well they are doing and how much caring they share.
Waking up and knowing that God is my rock.

Have an wonderful evening all,

Yep reality is here!

Tuesday, October 21, 2008

Loved this sign that Kaeli took a picture of...I think someone needs to brush up on their English spelling. It's cute though!

Okay, back to work today...yep, it started off with and "oh great!" (a little sarcasm went with that) and has ended with " yay, it's time to go home". lol
So to start my morning off, before I even made it out the door for work today, I decided to make myself a tomato and alpha sprout sandwich. I'm not a huge bread eater, but decided this would be a great lunch for today. Usually I take a whole tomato and then cut it up and make the sandwich just before I eat it, as I don't like soggy sandwiches. Today I figured that with all the alpha sprouts, it wouldn't get soggy, Decided to add a little pepper and then thought, heck I'll add a little salt too. Things were looking really tasty until I picked up the salt shaker and the bottom fell off just as I was bringing it across the top of my sandwich....hence the "oh great". I had just filled the shaker yesterday so all the salt landed ontop of my sandwich. Needless to say, I had to start over. lol. Grabbed an apple, banana and Kosy shack 90 calorie tapioca pudding instead as I also had a granola bar and some Craisins fruit snacks in my bag.
Get to work and there are phone messages on my phone and my phone is ringing (this is still all before 6:30 am) Okay, I deal with the call, telling him that I have just gotten back to work after holiday and could I call him back later in the morning after I locate the top of my desk under all the stuff that is stacked on top of it. He's a great guy and understood. Next I deal with the phone messages. Two were okay, but the third one was one I would rather have not received as it was a confirmation of my intuition. My gentleman friend from the seniors lodge, whom I have been getting talking books for for the past 7 years, passed away on the weekend. Bob unfortunately did not receive his kidney in time. At least now he once again has perfect health as his spirit rejoices at being home with the Lord.
The day was a very busy one, locating the top of my desk, making some organization out of all the paper work and inputting orders. I did complete 2 large orders though and got them sent on their way....YAY. I worked until 3pm today as Shy had to go in early and got off at 3pm....a positive for me, as it meant that I didn't have to drive back to work at 4 to pick her up.

My positives:

Kaeli is faxing her registration and insurance papers to Garry at work.
Shy is ready to use my vehicle is necessary.
Although I'll miss Bob, I am so pleased that he is no longer suffering and has journeyed home again to perfect health with the Lord.
A health lunch.
A job that I love and although sometimes is overwhelming, I am blessed with having it.
My spark family who keeps me moving forward with all their encouragement and support.
A God who blesses me every day and helps me to see all the positives in my life.

Hugs and a wonderful evening to you all.

Wanda sorry about your friend, Bob, but you are right he has perfect health now and perfect peace. Don't you just love it when things like the salt shaker happen, I hope you were able to laugh a little about it. It makes me think of the scene in Grumpier Old Men where Max is cooking for Maria and the top comes off his salt shaker and it all goes into the pot. I need to get on over to our bloging team now, hope you have a wonderful, writing Wed.

Wanda, I am holding you and Bob's family in my prayers at this time of loss. I love to envision how it is as the soul returns to its Maker! What rejoicing in heaven that a faithful son has returned! And what a gift G-d gives in restoring us to even better than we were in our earthly homes!

Now. The salt. Ohhhh...it was nice of you to do that so I don't feel so stupid about my coffee fiasco on Saturday. Camaraderie is such a supportive thing! Hahahahaha...

Getting back in the groove. Those first few days are the hardest.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend. We know they are at peace and been restored to perfect health but having known them they leave a part of themselves with us.

Oh Wanda that lunch was a little heavy on the salt.

My serenity motivated Monday!

Monday, October 20, 2008

My motivation Sunday carried right over into my Motivational Monday! lol

Headed out the door early this morning to get groceries, back home again to pick up Shyra to head to the insurance office where Kaeli has her car insurance. Kaeli had left them a letter stating that Shy has permission to drive her car. We needed to find out what all was required. Well to make a long story short...Shy will most likely need to use my vehicle to take her test. Kaeli has her insurance papers and vehicle registration in her purse and that is in Greece with her! The insurance was no problem getting another copy, but the registration could possibly be...Garry is going to the registry office tomorrow to talk to them and see if they will print out a new copy. In Alberta, you have to go to two different places, one...an insurance office to get insurance and the second being the licensing office. The license plate on Kaeli's car is valid until Jun/09, we just don't have the papers in the car....which if you are stopped by the police is an automatic $250.00 fine. Oh, life is so interesting...everything happens for a reason though, so not allowing it to stress us out. Prayers would be appreciated though as Garry goes to the license office tomorrow.

I did spend some time this afternoon knitting away on Shy's afghan, It's almost done. I'm very pleased with how it is turning out. Shy's choice of color is beautiful.

My positives:
A great day, motivated to get things accomplished still.
Groceries bought and put away.
The insurance office kindly printed off temporary insurance papers. Kaeli's new insurance kicks in on October 29th.
Garry came home early this evening to take Shy out driving in my vehicle.
Back to work tomorrow...my holiday time went by quickly, but enjoyed getting those gorillas off my back.
Looking forward to getting back into a routine.
Parcel mailed.
God's hand in my life.

Have an incredible evening, keep dreaming those dreams and then put them into action.

Wanda - How exciting for Shy to get her License... I will pray that Garry gets what he needs at the license office tomorrow.
Will Shy be getting her own car down the road? I remember how I felt when I got mine... I felt so free to go when I wanted to go...

And look at you still working on Shy's afghan... I hope you take a picture and share it with us... You are motivating me to make something too... But that will have to wait until the move is finished... I made a King size Afghan a few years ago for my bed... I'll share it sometime too...

Enjoy you're evening... And thanks for all the encouragement my friend...
