It's done!!!!!

Saturday, October 18, 2008

Well maybe it's done, the painting is complete at least for today! Loving the "habor mist" color...not so sure yet about the "brown clay", which is really more of a terra cotta/pumpkin color. The two colors do look great together and the room looks so much fresher and energized than before. As I told Garry, it's definitely better than before, looks more updated, but not sure if I've updated to today or the 70's LOL. We are going to try and see if we can afford to have the fireplace wall completed with built ins, all will depend on the price to do it. We want them in white so it will contrast nicely and then it doesn't matter the color you paint the walls.
I'll try and take a picture....even though the room is not completely finished. The painting at least is done for a bit. We'll wait and see if the brown clay color is a keeper or not. Just might go with a bright red...LOL.

My positives:

Had my massage this morning and managed to get rid of the headache. My therapist does Reiki also, so was a huge help.
While I was away, Garry made a great start on completing the painting. Even with the windows open you can still smell paint smell.
Painting is most likely done now until the spring when we can have windows open all day long again.
Phone call from our Kaeli in Greece. Ahhhhh love to hear that child's voice.
Shy and I went out for supper tonight. I had a caesar salad and garlic toast.
I'm feeling better.
Phone call from my brother.
God who blesses me in so many ways.

Have an awesome evening and take the time tomorrow to do some meditation. The benefits are incredible.

Hugs,
Wanda

Good Morning my friend... Your painting colors sound nice... I am the worst on picking colors for walls, so wish me luck... I'm thinking now to go with a tan to match the carpets more which is a multi colored brown and tan I think... lol

You massage sounds so wonderful... I wish our insurance would pay for it... Oh and I had to look up the Reiki ... I'd never heard of that... THAT SOUNDS WONDERFUL TOO... Some of the Japanese techniques are so healing...
Hope it helped you...

Enjoy your Serenity Sunday my friend...

One more day...

Friday, October 17, 2008

Looks like we will have one more day of painting at least. We finally got the primer (2 coats) done and color number one on the walls. House reeks now that the windows have had to be closed for the night. Nausea and headache still there, but I've been trying to spend a few minutes outdoors every couple of hours. Tomorrow we will see if a second coat of number one paint needs to be done and will add color number 2. Most of the walls are in "Harbor mist" which is a very light grey, almost a fog color and the accent color is a color called "Brown clay" sort of a terra cotta color. Far cry from the greens that we originally started out with, but they look pretty good. I'll post some pictures after it's all done. Garry wants to re-do the surface of the fireplace in slate, but that's a project he can do over the winter months.

My positives:

A husband who despite not liking to paint, took the day off to help out.
Realizing that the flu like symptoms I have are as a result of the chemical fumes from the paint....even though we used low fume paint.
Almost done the painting in the family room. The rest of the house....well, we'll see how and when we do it!
Tomorrow is my massage day....yaaaaaayyyyy! Then I can come home and begin painting all over again!

Have a wonderful evening,
Hugs,
Wanda

Wanda, do wear a mask. It will help a bit, I'm sure. Glad I didn't spread this flu to you...I was starting to feel guilty! Hehehe...

Those colors sound lovely and I can't wait to see the pics.

Wouldn't it just be wonderful if we could just pick up and come help each other...with painting, moving, decluttering, driving Marla to her treatment, etc.? Oh, it would be such a dream come true if we could!

Hugs, Maurizia

Wanda - Yes.... wear a mask. It'll help.

Sure, I'll paint. I'll get all the low parts on the walls and woodwork! LOL Your colors sound nice... although I'm partial to green myself.

Enjoy your painting but most of all, enjoy your hard work after it's finished. Love ya, Marla

Wanda... So no flu it's just the paint fumes... Well that will do it for sure... WE used that low fume paint that other day on the door I painted... and it did stink too... Make sure you open the doors and windows. Have you considered using a mask? That might help too...

Ok Now Marie told you... I am stopping to get her and Marla too if she wants to come... And we'll be there to help tomorrow... Don't' wait on us, traffic might be a bit of a problem... But we'll get there... lol

Can't wait to see it... I'm liking those colors... I'm thinking of starting to look at colors... I think I want my kitchen a very light blue color... maybe... lol guess I'll wait... can't make up my mind... lol

Enjoy your evening...

It did occur to me that because you don't do well with chemicals if the painting would bother you. Hope you don't get too overly exposed until you make yourself sick. I like to paint and would be glad to help. But alas the distance gets me out of that job. LOL Kathy is picking me up so we can help you. I'm waiting on her so I'll be there just as soon as she can gets moving.

I do know you will have a great deal of satisfaction when the job is complete.

Enjoy the massage.

I've got the bug....

Wednesday, October 15, 2008

Okay, now that I've started this de-cluttering, it seems like one project is leading to another and then another. Not that that is a bad thing. I'm just now in the cleaning and decorating mode! lol

Today, I decided rather than continuing to procrastinate about painting...I'd take the advice that I have been so freely handing out at "just do it". So I bought the primer paint and some sample paints in the shades that I wanted to try, came home and got all the painting stuff out and "just did it".
I've been putting off the painting as the house is mostly and open concept home and when you start one room, you need to just continue throughout and it was overwhelming knowing how much needed to be done. Today, I looked at the rooms and decided that seeing as the family room was the one room that although it's open to the kitchen, it's on a different level and not visible from the rest of the house was the one I would start in. Also, because it's the one room that we spend all our time in and I really don't like the colors that are there. This whole house was painted a sort of purply pink with dark browny/plum accent walls. After five years of living here....I can't take it any more! lol.
Out came the primer paint for the walls, the wall patch stuff and I got to it. Now because this room is partial in ground, it has what is called a pony wall, that is the wall I began tackling and then it carries on over to the surround the fireplace. So a start has been made in covering the dark color. I then did some color swatches on the wall of the two colors of green tone we chose. One is called "pickling spice" and one is called "canary grass". Now I will see what the different light at different times of the day does to our choices. So far the "pickling spice" is the in the lead...but Garry's not home yet!
Tomorrow will see me either choosing more samples or getting the paint so that we (I) can get this room completed before the weekend. Go ME!

My positives;
Having the time off to actually tackle my procrastination projects.
Being motivated to "just do it".
Warm enough out during the day time so that I can leave the windows open while painting.
Finally got some quotes on what it will cost to turn our fireplace wall into a useable feature....shelves and cupboards surrounding the fireplace. May have to be a done the road project as it isn't cheap!
A fabulous day filled with lots of warm fuzzy thoughts swirling around in my mind.
Being so blessed by the Positive Bloggers team.

My thought of the day: when you have something that is becoming more of a gorilla on your back than a small monkey...."just do it". Get it over with and out of the way.

Lots of Hugs,
Wanda

Wanda, I used to put off those gorillas and hoped they would go away... But I'm like you now... Start with the biggest first and get it over with...

You sounded very productive yesterday...

Sorry I didn't get here until just now... Spark forgot to tell me... lol

Have fun getting the color just right... I want to go blue in my new kitchen I think... But I'm afraid to look at all the different colors... That kind of stuff drives me nuts... I can never make up my mind... But hey it might be different this time... lol

Wanda, think how wonderful it will be once it's all done. I have a friend in Missouri who says green is her favorite color...'cuz it's the one G-d choose for nature - and as a result everything looks good with it! :)

  Wanda

When I first read the title I thought you were sick. LOL

I know how that decluttering thing can lead to one project and then another. Seems unending.

I know you will feel so much better when you get it painted and done. When I do something of that magnitude I have a tendency to sit and just look at it. Quietly patting myself on the back. LOL

Taking time out....

Tuesday, October 14, 2008

Only a very brief blog this evening as I am taking time out to watch the election results. Probably not worth the time, but despite that I am concerned about what will happen.

My positives:

A beautiful gusty sunshining day.
Time for a quick walk to the polling stations and back
Helping Q with his updating of his resume
Bought primer so I can begin painting.
More decluttering accomplished, summer clothes put away and the winter things in the closet now.
My SP friends who care and are so encouraging.

Have a great evening all.
Hugs,
Wanda

Wanda - I keep decluttering too. It's a big job though here. I guess I was a sort of pack rat! Not really, but it sure has a way of gathering up on you, doesn't it? Enjoy your tv tonight with the election results. I personally cannot wait until ours is over with next week. LOL Love ya, Marla

Hi Wanda! It's been too long since I've been around visiting. I need to change that right now.

I hope the election results turn out for the best for your country.

And you're still decluttering! I need to get busy doing that again as well. *sigh* I need to keep coming back to your blog to get motivated to keep working on that goal!

Have a nice evening! And sweet dreams!

I'm Home!!

Monday, October 13, 2008

Wow, 2200 km in less than 72 hours....I have a numb bum from all that sitting! lol
We had a fabulous time though. We spent overnight in Valemount BC after traveling through a white out snow storm for about 20 minutes near Edson Alberta, and then some rain. Got up in the morning to -7 degrees, scraped frost off the windows and headed through peasoup fog for Kamloops(3 more hours of driving) and spent a very short couple of hours visiting with Garry's aunt and uncle...who really are our good friends not just relatives. Sure do miss those more frequent visits with them now that we aren't living in BC. It was great to see them and catch up on each others lives. I invited Jeannie to stop by SP and our team. Told her I was going to looking for her, so if she takes up the offer, I know you guys will make her welcome. Our trip from Kamloops to Williams Lake was much nicer weather wise and we didn't encounter any freezing rain/snow until just before Williams Lake. Got there about 4pm Saturday afternoon.
Hazel and Rod are thrilled with their new vehicle that we delivered to them. They had purchased a new vehicle through Garry. Hazel made a marvelous Thanksgiving supper (yes, turkey and all the trimmings). Other friends of our joined us for supper and a great time of playing cards and visiting. It was great timing as Terry and Carol had just sold their home and are moving to Kelowna BC. We played cards and a crazy game called "Mexican train". Had a blast...just like old times where we got together almost every weekend to play cards or board games.
After an early morning of breakfast, we were on the road again heading back home. Almost 11 hours of straight driving saw us home late last night. A whirl wind trip for sure, but so worth all the aches and numb bum today!

Missed you guys, so I'm off now to check out the blogs and posts and find out what you have all been up to the past couple of days.

My positives:

An opportunity to share SP with Jeannie, Hazel and Carol.
Visiting with friends.
Safe trip.
Singing along in the vehicle with Garry and just sharing and chatting. It was either that or silence....when you are driving through the mountains the radio reception is non-existant!
Getting back home again.
Knowing that God has us exactly where we are supposed to be...seeing Williams Lake again after 8 years of being away just confirmed we are glad that we moved! Other than missing our friends...there are no emotional ties to the place at all. And that's a good thing.

Have an awesome day.

Hugs,
Wanda

Sounds like a great trip. I guess sometimes it's good to go back so you see just how far you have come. Now, just get your behind back in order and you'll be all set. They have this lovely glute stretch in the Spark Fitness area. Could be just the ticket. Have a great evening and it is very nice to have you back in our midst.
