A day filled with laughter

This is where we are going tomorrow. It will take us about 12 hours of driving to get there.


Well, it's been a long, long work day today. A 10 hour day, but now I'm on holidays! Yippee!.

What a great and crazy day at work. Seemed like everyone in our department had got the singing bug and were filled with crazy antics. We were even singing Christmas songs! Fridays are usually the day that craziness happens in our department, but today was the new Friday!

Tomorrow Garry and I are heading out to Williams lake, BC. Friends of ours purchased a new vehicle through Garry and we are delivering it to them and bringing back their trade-in. We'll make a detour through Kamloops to see family then head to Williams Lake on Saturday afternoon. Because it's where we used to live, we will hopefully see lots of friends. Hazel is planning a dinner party for several Saturday night so that will be fun.

We hope to be back late, late Sunday night. On the off chance that we don't get back until Monday, I'm going to try to post next week's challenges early. I probably won't have access to a computer while away, but I'll be thinking of you. I'm even planning on wearing my elastic band and ping and sing while gone! Now that's dedication for you! lol.

My positives.

A fabulous day at work, so many laughs and so much craziness.
Managed to get the mole hill on my desk reduced sufficiently.
Email from Kaeli.
Phone call tonight from Hazel wishing us a safe trip.
Knowing that we'll be seeing family and friends this weekend. What a great way to celebrate Thanksgiving weekend (it's Canada's)
This team that brightens my day with their enthusiasm and support.
God who blesses my life.
My garage door is finally fixed.

Avoiding Negative Vibrations
Taking on the Energy of Others
There are times when you may find that being around certain individuals or groups of people leaves you with feelings of discomfort. It may be that spending time with a particular friend feels draining or that dealing with a specific coworker exhausts you. Being around toxic or angry people is also draining. And you may even find that being surrounded by a crowd of people lowers your energy levels rather than perks you up. This is not that unusual. Each of us radiates energy and is capable of being influenced by the energy of other people. It is important to learn how to shield yourself, so you don’t unknowingly take on someone else’s energy. While some people know how to instinctively protect themselves from being adversely affected by energy, most of us need to discover and practice the technique that works best.

There are a number of ways to avoid being affected by people’s energy. Shielding is one preventative technique you can use. Center yourself and envision being enveloped in a cocoon of loving and protective light. This protective layer should allow you to consciously regulate the energy around you. The intent to shield oneself is all you need for this technique to work. You can even create a trigger word to assist you in quickly creating a shield. Say this word each time you create a new shield, until the word and the shield become automatically associated in your mind. If you run into a person whose energy you find draining, you may want to cleanse your own energy field after your encounter. Sage, cold showers, singing, mineral water baths, spending time in nature, and a simple break to recharge are all ways to accomplish this.

While it is important to know how to shield yourself from energy, there are those energies that you may not want to shut out. The energy of laughter from a newborn baby, the feeling of joy radiating from someone in love, and the frequency of calm emanating from an enlightened teacher are just some of the energies coming from others that you may want to have around you.

By taking relaxation breaks today you will become more effective at what you need to do for you will be able to step back and see things from a more relaxed perspective.

Knowing that I only have two more working days until I am once again on holidays! Yay...I'm on holidays from Oct 10 to the 21st.

Motivational Monday...think I needed some help in the motivation department today...sigggghhhh. Must have been all the work we accomplished on the weekend. Even our garage was in protest! When I went to leave for work this morning, the garage door wouldn't open, a spring snapped and broke. Good thing my car was parked outside and I was able to get to work. Unfortunately the repair people can't come for a couple of days, so now we need to use the front door (like normal people would lol),
Busy day at work, poor Geff ended up going home sick, a good indication that flu season is beginning. Tomorrow we have meetings all morning and then I need to get an excel sheet updated and sent to a vendor so they can finish doing the computer connections on their end. This is a new vendor we are adding, so want to get everything done right the first time.

Quin made it home late last night, and will take a couple of days to relax before heading out the door again to his winter job.

My positives:
Quin is home, even if only for a couple of days.
My car was parked outside the garage instead on inside like last time!
Geff took his sick self home so he didn't spread the germs.
Managed to pick up some groceries on the way home today, so I don't have to go out again.
Life is a positive, at least I choose to make it so!

De-cluttering, an ongoing saga!

I was so tired last night that I just went to bed. Garry and I got a fair amount accomplished yesterday in the de-clutter department. Still lots to go, amazing where all this "stuff" comes from. You don't notice it as you gradually put stuff here or put stuff there over the years and then when you start to actually deal with it....wow...there is lots!
We basically concentrated on the garage yesterday, with just some minor things brought up from the basement. The basement is going to be another marathon weekend of cleaning out. At least the garage is now useable again for parking a vehicle in. I spent a couple hours yesterday just shredding old papers. Boxes of old personal papers/income taxes files that are now over 10 years old and can safely be shredded. What a great feeling to finally be able to clear that out. Because winter is coming, we decided that doing the garage first was a wise idea. Tackling one room at a time makes more sense to us, than trying to do it all at once.
The previous owners of the house had left stuff here that they have never come and gotten, even after repeated calls to them, so yesterday all the bottles that they had cleaned and saved for bottling their own beer got hauled to the bottle recycle depot and the bench seat from their vehicle, Garry is going to take to the auto wreckers to sell. They also left a really nice old trunk, which we decided we would keep and use.

Sorry, I got interrupted, but in a good way...Kaeli just phoned! I've have now passed the phone off to her Dad and sister. She is enjoying Greece and the excavation, but missing everyone. Only a couple more months and she will be home again...how time passes.

Quin will be home today also. He phoned last night to say that he should be here sometime late today. The lodge is now closed until next May. The ice is beginning to form on the lake already!

My Positives:
More de-cluttering accomplished.
Feeling like we are making head way in becoming more organized.
Kaeli's phone call, always a huge positive!
Quin will be home today.
Serenity Sunday today.
God's many blessing in my life.

Wanda, you've accomplished quite a bit in this de-cluttering effort! I got sidetracked, I'm afraid, and have made very little progress. I'm glad your daughter is enjoying her time in Greece. It will go quickly I'm sure! Thanks for stopping by my blog yesterday. To answer your question, my daughter is in the DR for work -- she works for a large resort corporation, spent the last year in Florida, and has now been transferred to a newly renovated resort in Punta Cana. I missed blogging last night, but for a very good reason.
Garry and I were sitting outside enjoying the last bit of sunshine for the day and just catching up on each others day. Our neighbor across the street from us arrived home with a big trailer attached to his truck, both truck and trailer were loaded down with "junk". He mentioned that the county was having an environmental recycle day on Saturday (today) and asked if we had anything that we wanted to get rid of. As a matter of fact, we did. Garry and I were planning on cleaning out the garage and making a start on the basement today. Our neighbor offered to take our stuff with him if wanted to load it in his trailer last night. We spent the evening getting started on loading into the trailer all the things we wanted out of the house and garage and needed to go to the environmental recycle. All the old paint cans that had been left here by the previous owners...there were lots! and we even got the old kitchen stove into that trailer. It has been sitting in the garage since we replaced it, waiting it's fate! We even managed to donate to the neighbor some stuff that we no longer wanted and he could use. Today we will finish the job. It's time to put all the lawn furniture away and do yard clean up in preparation for winter. It felt great to have a couple more monkeys off our backs.

My positives:
Getting the old stove and paint cans out of our world.
A neighbor that was extremely kind in his offer, as it meant we didn't have to rent a truck to haul it ourselves.
Garry and I made a start on the garage and basement, now we are in the mood to keep going with it.
The opportunity to surprise someone yesterday with a "free" cup of delicious steamed milk with vanilla flavoring. The look on her face was so worth the price.
Another day to be active and work towards my health goals.

I'm embarrassed to admit that I am finally going through clothes and found 12 denim skirts...no one needs that many...just forgot I had a few and then in my deep depression bought more - so glad THAT's over...Since John's here today and I just got home from work, I'll leave it to tomorrow...but I'm trying them on and keeping only 3 (I wear them a lot).
