First day of my 4 day long weekend...off to a great start....hour long walk this morning. I have a great route that I take, most of it is on a walking trail, so I get to meditate as I walk along. Had a great time this morning. The part that isn't on a trail is along side a main road, so you get a lot of road noise. Makes you appreciate the peace and tranquillity of the walking trail.
Garry phoned and wanted to meet for lunch, so once I dropped Shy off at work, I drove to Montana's Cookhouse to meet Garry.
For the very first time since starting my new lifestyle journey I had one of their burgers! I asked them to just bring the burger nothing else...I had a hard time eating the whole thing, partly because it was so big and much more than I have gotten used to eating, but also because everytime I looked at it all I saw was "calories". It was actually rather funny, but a good funny because I realized that eating healthy has definitely become a way of life for me.
To be honest after eating the burger, I felt so uncomfortable with all the calories I had just consumed that I went for another 25 minute walk to try and compensate for those calories! I don't feel guilty or anything for having had the burger, just rather fascinated with how my mind now views eating something that is not only loaded (700 calories) with calories, but was not the healthiest of choices! I really don't care if I ever have one of their burgers again. Just thought it was interesting how my mind works...probably only interesting to me, but interesting none the less. lol
I went to Michael's craft store and home sense for a walk around before going to get my hair cut this afternoon...okay...I must say...they are pushing the seasons just a little bit. They already have halloween and Christmas things being put out on display! What happened to it being summer? I can understand having back-to-school things out as schools starts in another month...but Halloween and Christmas!
My positives for today:
A day off work, always nice. (I have so many overtime hours that I need to get used up, hence the long weekends I've been having)
A lovely meditating walk this morning. Had the trail to myself for most of the time.
Lunch date with my husband.
Realized that my new lifestyle has really become my lifestyle. I am no longer happy or comfortable with choices of food that don't serve me.
My laundry is almost completely done. Just ironing left to do now.
A great new book that I am reading "Messages from your Angels" by Doreen Virtue.
3 more days off ahead of me! Yippee.
Hope you are all having a wonderful day.
Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace and gratitude. (Denis Waitley)

This was in my mailbox at work this morning and thought I would copy and share it here on SP.
An optimistic attitude helps protect your health and boost resilience, even during times of uncertainty and change.
People who focus on the brighter side of situations are more likely to take care of themselves - eat right, exercise and get regular checkups - and avoid feeling discouraged.
Any change, happy or worrisome, causes stress in your life. It's the fear of the unknown that makes most people uncomfortable. Staying flexible and open-minded can help. After all, change and adapting to it are simply parts of life - at work and at home. Having a healthy attitude is the key to coping.
How to handle change
•Accept that change is inevitable.
•Put things into perspective; the change may be easier than you think.
•Look at the positive side and for opportunities to grow.
•Develop supportive relationships and share your feelings.
•Clarify goals and expectations, then move on.
Remember: Few people escape the stress of today's fast-paced, changing world. If you focus on the positive side of change, you might just find that it can renew your energy and inspire new ideas!

The strangest thing happened to me today!
When I got home from work, I saw there was a message on the phone. Checked the caller ID and I didn't recognize the name so listened to the message. They hadn't actually left one, just hung up. Never thought about, as that happens. A while later, the phone rang, and I noticed it was the same person calling. Here is the conversation:
(caller)..."Have I reached the right number?"
(me)..." I'm not sure, what number were you calling?"
(caller)..." I was calling the number for miracles"
(me)..."uhmmm, well, I sure would love to be able to provide you with your miracle, but I'm really sorry, you have the wrong number."
(caller)...laughs " I'm sorry, you have a good day now".
(me)...laughing ..." you too, bye."
Okay, now, that was just plain strange! It isn't everyday that someone calls and wants a miracle! I'm not sure who other than God performs miracles, but I do know that although I serve God, I am in no way in His league of performing miracles! LOL.
Then I sat and thought about the call...it was so strange, that I began to wonder all sorts of things...who was the lady calling for a miracle, why was she calling, how did she get my number, who is advertising that they provide miracles, was there a message in all this for me? My mind has been really boggled over this. Decided that I would just take it to the Lord and ask Him to provide the caller with her needed miracle whatever it may be, and that if there was a message in all of this for me...then apparently I'm a little lacking in understanding it, so please clarify. How come these strange types of things keep happening to me...am I missing something here???
A great day.
A strange but funny phone call, that left me laughing as well as connected to God.
My curried veggies from last night tasted even better today for lunch...the spices had really co-mingled and yummmmm.
My training session that I had to do for a practicum student went very well.
Lots of opportunities to put extra steps into my day at work.
Sharing with SP friends and hearing their positives.
Reminder from God that He has a sense of humor and loves me.
Have a spectacular evening. Marla, you are kicking butt my friend...you'll be chasing Kevin around the block soon! lol

I decided to be creative today...I got out the crock pot this morning, tossed in all the veggies that I had prepared last night before going to bed (didn't think my family would appreciate me chopping and making noise at 5am!). Tossed in butternut squash, cubed russet potatoes, zucchini, carrots, onions, green peppers, celery and spices. Turned it on low and let it do it's think all day. When I got home from work, I added tomatoes and a jar of Tikka Masala lemon & coriander sauce and then some frozen peas. Cooked up a pot of brown rice. Yep, supper was good!
Garry even phoned me at work this morning to tell me that when he got up for work, it was already smelling pretty good in the house! I now have some lunch to take to work tomorrow. I'm thinking that by tomorrow the curry spice will have had even more time to be very spicy!
Managed to get in a 30 minute walk while waiting for Shy to finish work. Probably need to go for another walk tonight to walk off some of the calories I had a supper time. lol.
A great supper creation!
Time for a walk while waiting for Shy to finish work.
Time to catch up on all Kaeli's news from her weekend trip to Vancouver. She is so excited about going to Greece in about 5 weeks time.
Time to sit out on the back deck with my eyes closed listening to the wind rustle through the leaves on the trees. Pretending that I'm at the shore and the waves were coming in!
Having a relationship with God.
Enjoy your evening, keep moving forward, even if it's only crawling on your hands and knees.

We had a terrific thunderstorm roll through here last night, felt like we were directly beneath it. The thunder was so loud that the pictures were vibrating on the walls. Felt it was safer to just shut down the computer and wait until today to touch base.
The skies looked black still this morning, but cleared off to a beautiful sunny day, although weather reports say we will be having more storms. Oh well, the moisture is sure needed and the lightening displays are like watching a fireworks display. So incredible...just not lots of different colors!
Busy day at work, just the way I like. We are working with a skeleton staff right now in our department...lots away on summer holidays and as some come back others are leaving. I'm taking this Friday off and we are closed on Monday...so a nice 4 day weekend and then I'm off the 15 -18 as we are attending a reunion in Saskatchewan. I'm getting rather excited about attending it. Many of the people we haven't seen in over 30 years. Must get busy and hunt up some pictures to take with me.
Had a great weekend. Managed to finally get some clutter cleaned out of the house...maybe more this weekend too! It's like you can breath deeper when you get those monkeys off your back. lol.
Seeing as it's Monday and Monday's seem to have this reputation of being....well....not so great. I thought I would share a chuckle.
The Final Question
A contestant on "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" had reached the final
If she answered the next question correctly, she would win $1,000,000.
If she answered incorrectly, she would pocket only the $25,000 milestone
As she suspected it would be, the million-dollar question was no pushover.
It was, "Which of the following species of birds does not build its own
nest but instead lays its eggs in the nests of other birds?
A) the condor
B) the buzzard
C) the cuckoo
D) the vulture
The woman was on the spot. She did not know the answer. She had used up
her 50/50 Lifeline and her Ask the Audienc Lifeline. All that remained was
Phone-a-Friend Lifeline. She hoped she would not have to use it because ...
Her friend was, well--blonde.
But she had no alternative. She called her friend and gave her the question
the four choices. easy. The answer is C: the cuckoo."
The contestant had to make a decision and make it fast. She considered
a reverse strategy and giving Meredith any answer except the one that her
had given her. And considering her friend was a blonde that would seem to be
logical thing to do. But her friend had responded with such confidence, such
that the contestant could not help but be persuaded.
"I need an answer," said Meredith.
Crossing her fingers, the contestant said, "C: The cuckoo."
"Is that your final answer?"
"Yes, that is my final answer."
And Meredith replied, "That answer is...........
Absolutely correct! You are now a millionaire!"
Three days later, the contestant hosted a party for her family and
friends, including the blonde who had helped her win the million dollars.
"Jeni, I just do not know how to thank you," said the contestant.
"How did you happen to know the right answer?"
"Oh, come on," said the blonde.. "Everybody knows that cuckoos
don't build nests. They live in clocks."
Have a wonderful evening.
