My day off....

Friday, July 25, 2008

It's Fabulous Friday....I'm fabulous because I have a day off today and I had time to take a nice walk this morning before the heat built up. I got all the laundry done, now tomorrow is Shy's and mine to do some serious mall walking. Shy has some shopping to do so we are hitting West Edmonton mall.

What a great day off today...sun shining, temperature hot!, a 40 minute walk in this morning before it got too hot to walk outside.
Dropped Shy off at work and then headed to the city to do some window shopping. Found 3 tops that were greatly reduced....75%off. They are sweater tops, a little snug, I could wear them now, but they will be more comfortable with another 10 pound elimination. Figured the price was right, they will be perfect for wearing this fall and winter....more motivation to keep on eliminating! Yippee! I usually don't buy things that don't fit the way I want them to right now....but it was such a great deal and I know that I am still eliminating weight, so just went for it! lol.

Noticed a great sign as I was driving home. It was on a billboard in front of a church....loved it!

"Worry is the darkroom where negatives are developed."

Kinda says it all.
I've been thinking of Marla all day today and trusting that all is well, looking forward to hearing from Dana.
My eldest had to fly to Vancouver today to attend a mandatory all day meeting tomorrow regarding her semester in Greece this September. She should be home late Sunday night as she will spend some time with friends in the city.

Well must go and see what salad fixings I have in the fridge, may have to make a run to the grocery store yet. It's too hot to cook anything in the house today and Garry won't be home to cook on the BBQ. I don't touch his BBQ...lol.

Have a wonderful evening.
Hugs,
Wanda

Well I forgot that it was Fabulous Friday... lol

Loved the sign.... I should make a sign and post it on my computer monitor with the other one that says... "Today is going to be a GREAT DAY!" lol I think they would do great together...

So glad that you enjoyed your day off... And got your walk in too... And wow what a great savings you got on the 3 tops... I think it was a wise decision for you to get them... It adds a little motivation to your journey... something to look forward to... LOL

Enjoy your day of walking at the mall tomorrow... as I know you will...

You are fabulous for taking that walk. I'm not going to be able to get mine in.

I love the sign. Kinda says it all. Seventy five per cent off is a fantastic find. You'll be in high fashion this fall. LOL
Sounds a little warm up there.

not much to say...

Thursday, July 24, 2008

Not much to say today...it was another work day, a pleasant one none the less.

I have tomorrow off work...a long weekend ahead of me now and the same with next weekend...I will end up with a 4 day weekend as the first Monday in August is a holiday here, so with the Friday added in....Yippee!
My missing money has now been returned to my account, with all the interest back dated. So am very happy to continue banking with them. It only took 4 phone calls and a request for the branch manager's direct line! Did I mention that I got a little edgy by the time I had to make the 4th call????
A lovely walk after work today around Broadmore lake. It's not far from work. Seeing as I have to pick up Shy from work about 1.5 hours after I get off, being able to walk around the lake rather than driving home is rather nice.

Don't forget tomorrow is Fabulous Friday....let's toot those horns!

Hugs,
Wanda

Glad the error was straightened out.

You may not have much to say but every time I read how you managed to get your walk in I think okay she holds a full time job and still manages to get it done. I'm here all day long and should be able to do it the three days a week in my plan and not have a problem increasing it. You continue to inspire me to put forth my best effort.

Wanda, Being persistant does pay off.. It's a pai but you made it happen & it worked for you.. I'm glad that you are having a few days off.. Tom is on Vacation for two weeks.. So it'll be slow sparking for me here.. He has a lot of plans & it really won't be on the computer..
Errands around the house & then maybe day trips.. Take care glad that you got your walk in.. Love & Hugs Polly

    Wanda,
So glad that your money plus interest made it back into your account. And I would have gotten a little edgy or maybe worse (lol) if it had been me... Whew... what a relief huh?

Your walk around the lake sounds great. I used to walk by our lake too... It was 2 miles up and back... but not sure I can do it anymore... Haven't tried... but I loved it when it wasn't to hot...
My doctor saw me walking one time when he was driving by in his sports car with the top down... He honked at me and Smiled and then told me how proud he was of me the next visit I had... lol
See what a nice memory you brought back... He was one of my favorite doctors... lol

Enjoy your long weekend...

Cooler day....

Tuesday, July 22, 2008

A bit cooler today, overcast and a nice breeze blowing...perfect weather for walking in. Got a nice half hour walk in right after work, then back home to have another phone call to my bank in BC as to where all my interest money has disappeared to on my term deposit! Received my statement and all my interest(not that it's much, but hey! to me it is) has been withdrawn and magically disappeared! This is the third phone call now and today, I asked to speak to a manager....who now is looking into the problem and has assured me that my money will be returned and interest will be back dated. Told him that I will be expecting it to be there by the end of this week. Let's see what happens now.

Deep breathes Wanda, release any negative energy and trust that whatever has happened will be corrected. emoticon

There now I feel better.

Got supper in the oven, Shy's favorite...hash brown casserole. Got some nice veggies to go with it and then an orange for dessert!

My positives:

A perfect day for a walk, cool breeze, wind in my hair and time to walk before coming home from work.
A pleasant conversation with the bank manager! Alright maybe a tad edgy!lol.
Supper in the oven. Shy's favorite.
Arranged to have this Friday and next Friday off work...yippee...2 long weekends in a row.
A cooler night for sleeping...last night was a killer!
SP friends who make me laugh and know that I am cared about.

Have a wonderful evening all, Walking Wednesday tomorrow....wiggle Wednesday for Marla (lol). Soon Marla, Soon you'll be walking.

Hugs,
Wanda

Bank errors are the worst!! They take forever sometimes to straighten them out and sometimes they manage to NOT get it fixed in your favor, but it sounds like your bank is not that way. Thank goodness!! Other than that you sound very content and happy as usual. I can't believe you almost lost your cool!!! That is almost impossible to even imagine! But, I'm NOT surprised you were able to get it under control and not let it ruin your entire day!! If I may ask, what exactly is hash brown casserole? I LOVE hash browns and would love to know that recipe. If you have a moment, please give it to me.
Have a wonderful day today and hopefully, your bank error will be cleared up today. Love and hugs.

Wanda, sounds like a wonderful 2 days...if you don't include the bank! :) Eventually they'll get it straight...Like Marie, I worked for a bank...glitches, glitches...bane of bankers! Thanks for the recipe...I'm trying it this weekend! ~~ Mauri

Having worked in a bank I'm sure they will have it straightened out for you. Doesn't mean they are unreliable. Occasionally programs would be updated and there would be a "glitch" that would happen causing a problem at our bank. Don't know what happened in their case. It is upsetting though and irritating. It makes me remember my aggravation with Bob's prescription last week. LOL

Your recipe sounds very good. Need to try it.

Oh I got my walk in today.

    Recipe for Hash Brown casserole.

Not sure exactly how healthy it is, but it sure is good and if you only have a portion...not so bad!

1 package McCain frozen hash browns
1 tin Cream of celery, chicken or mushroom soup
1 cup sour cream
1 tin 1% milk
roasted garlic and peppers spice to taste ( I usually use a tablespoon, we like spice!)
Mix bottom 4 ingredients together and then pour over hash browns. Mix it all together so evenly coated. I usually do the mixing right in the casserole pan...less dishes to clean!
Sprinkle with grated cheese of choice.
Bake at 375 for about an hour. Makes at least 8/10 servings. Shy loves it the next day as left overs.
Enjoy!

Your hash brown casserole sounds good... What all goes in it?
I'm always looking for another good recipe. I get tired of the same old things... and most of it wasn't that healthy...

Enjoy your cooler evening my friend...

New roof....

Monday, July 21, 2008

It was a scorcher outside today...what a blessing that I work in a nice air conditioned environment!
Arrived home to see that the roofers had arrived and were well underway on putting our new shingles on. An expensive venture, but one that needed to be done. The poor guys, working all day long in the hot sun. I yelled up to them to see if they would like a jug of ice water...you bet they did. They polised off two big jugs, and I'm sure if they had to work any longer, I would have been out refilling them. Makes me feel even more blessed that I had a nice AC place to work today.
Managed to get a 30 minute walk in around Broadmoar Lake today. The sun was hot, but the nice cool breeze coming in off the little lake was very nice. It's a man made lake, so not so big, but it's in a park in the center of town, so a beautiful walk.

My positives:

Kathy's home!
A lovely fresh fruit salad for lunch today...yummm! cantaloup, honeydew melon, strawberries, raspberries, watermelon and grapes. So filling and very healthy!
An air conditioned work place.
A walk in, despite the heat of the day.
A new roof on my house...no chance of leaks now.
A nice fresh tomato and cheese sandwich for supper....didn't have to cook, as no one wanted anything hot!
Great friends on SP.
The best blessing....I'm alive and becoming a healthy person.

Hope you all had a great day, enjoy your evening and keep on finding those positives.

Hugs,
Wanda

YAY on the new roof... Leaks are no fun. And congrats on getting in that walk... It sounded like a nice walk... breeze and all...

Now you've made me hungry with your fruit salad and all... Time to make some dinner...

Have a wonderful evening...

So nice to be home too... I missed you all...

That was so thoughtful of you to think of the roofers. It's must be awful to have to work in heat like that. Both my son's do construction and even though they're in air-conditioned trucks most of the day, it's still horrible for them. But, now you know your home is nice and toasty and leak-proof. LOL
That fruit salad sounded heavenly!!! I love fruit salads. And good for you getting in a walk in that heat. I have to admit heat keeps me indoors!! Unless I'm headed to my air-conditioned car to head to a air-conditioned store!! LOL
You have a wonderful day. Love and hugs.

I love reading your blogs. They are so positive.

What a thoughtful thing to do in giving them something to drink. It's been a scorcher her too. I think it hit96 yesterday with a heat index of 100. Haven't had time to watch the weather today..........been gone. It doesn't feel one degree cooler though I assure you. So I can't even start to imagine how hot it is up on top of roofs.

Almost didn't blog....

Sunday, July 20, 2008

I almost didn't do a blog today, as I couldn't think of anything to say. Then I decided to check out the posts and blogs of our positive bloggers...well now I'm inspired to do my daily blog! lol.

Just can't be the only one who doesn't blog today!lol.

My positives:

A lovely long walk after breakfast. The sun was already making the day hot by the time I got home, but my walk was great.

Garry made a wonderful breakfast again this morning....Sunday's are Garry's day to cook breakfast...He loves to do breakfasts on Sundays, actually gets a little upset if anyone eats before he has breakfast made! We have all learned to wait, even me, who is usually up a couple of hours before anyone else!

A trip to Costco and now we are loaded down with lots of fresh fruit for the week.

Emails from friends, a lovely new pedometer goodie from Marla...I'm looking forward to sharing it with Marla on our virtual walks!

Lazing out on the back deck after the sun went around to the other side of the house...it was too hot to sit out there earlier.

Laundry all done, bathroom cleaned and kitchen all tidied up after supper.

A phone call from my Aunt, sharing the highlights of her holiday.

Having my family around to share giggles and laughs with.

Reading all the positiveness in friends lives.

Life is great!

Lots for hugs,
Wanda
