Happy Ground Hog Day

Friday, February 01, 2013

We don't need to see the ground hog today to tell us that we are having 6 more weeks of winter! I have the shoveling of snow to prove that this morning! Although we are supposed to be having warm temps this weekend, I don't think it's going to be enough to say that spring is on it's way anytime soon.

One month of the new year is already behind us, a new month lies before. I love the beginning of new months...so many possibilities and opportunities to explore. Each new day is a surprise filled with blessings.

My Thank yous
1. Thank you for the warmer temperature this morning as I shovel the snow before heading to work. No wind chill factor to battle and no blowing snow. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
2. Thank you that it is Friday once again and the close of another work week. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
3.Thank you for the blessing of Sage's company, she certainly keeps me moving with all the in and out she needs. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
4. Thank you for the gift of healing in Garry's leg. He sees the specialist next Friday and we both are trusting that there will be no surgery necessary. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
5. Thank you for the blessings of my work schedule that allows me time to meet Garry's schedule without undue pressure. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
6. Thank you for our girls that lend a helping hand so willingly. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
7. Thank you for the beauty that is in each of the seasons that we get to experience. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
8. Thank you for freedom of choice and all the opportunities to learn and grow. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
9. Thank you for the gift of mobility that helps me to get about without assistance. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
10. Thank you for the facial muscles that allow me to smile, such a wonderful gift to share with others that costs nothing. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Have a wonderful day.
Hugs,
Wanda

I love your thank you list. I need to think of those things to be grateful for, also. I have many, including the mobility one. I have had both knee replaced with titanium and am grateful I no longer need a walker, cane or knee brace (which I used for over 10 years).

I am not truly grateful for the 30 below zero wind chill on this Friday morning, but am happy it is Friday and will have 2 days off.

Thanks for a very nice blog.

Great blog! Our temperature here in Ottawa Ontario is crazy -- one day rain, next day freezing, next day warm.......our groundhog is probably never coming out today.

Yay, no snow shoveling this morning

Thursday, January 31, 2013

No snow shoveling this morning and it's only minus 21, woo hoo!

This is the crazy weather this winter. Absolute freezing temperatures one week and then plus temps a week later, tons of snow and then melting. Weird, weird, weird.

Last day of January and heading into a new month tomorrow. Ground hog day just around the corner and we will see how accurate our ground hog it *grin*.

My Blessings:
1. I managed to get the snow removed from the driveway and sidewalks yesterday morning before work without freezing. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
2. Garry had his times messed up for his regular doctors appt yesterday, we arrived an hour early, but they were nice enough to get Garry in early rather than making us sit and wait. Thank you, thank you, thank you for the kindness.
3. It was payday yesterday and all the bills are paid. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
4. No new snow to shovel this morning, in fact warmer temperatures are on their way. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
5. Some fact finding information that Garry and I had requested arrived yesterday, now we can make some further plans. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
6. So blessed that we don't have to be concerned anymore about Kaeli's old car not having heat in this weather. Thank you for her being blessed with a new car. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
7. Thank you for the gift of healing that is at work in Garry's leg. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
8. Thank you for the gift of health in all of our families lives. We are indeed blessed with so much. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
9. Thank you for the reminders that we are to be good stewards of all that we receive and own. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
10. Thank you for the blessing of guidance in our lives, that when we allow God to work in our lives that all things work out for the best. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Have a blessed and wonderful day.
Hugs,
Wanda

I have to agree with you about the weather. We are back to winter today and by the looks of it all next week. I don't think our MI ground hog will be seeing it's shadow this Sat. We have the movie Ground Hog Day and will be watching it this weekend. We were at 20 this morning with wind chill of 6 and snowing and blowing, so yes, winter has returned to us here in MI. Glad you didn't have to shovel this morning. Good to hear Garry's leg is on the mend. Is Sage being a good girl or is she back with Quin? This is certainly a good day for just staying inside and doing things. Started using a sinus rinse today, hoping it will help with that feeling like I need to be clearing my throat all the time, we'll see. Hope your day goes good and that you don't have to shovel when you get home.

Hugs,
Shirl

Snowing all night, it's shovel time again this morning!

It's a cold one out there this morning!

Tuesday, January 29, 2013

It's cold outside this morning! Minus 26 with wind chill factor bringing it down to minus 40. There are wind chill warnings ...you think!

I'm hoping that I don't have too much shoveling to do this morning. If I'm really blessed the wind will have taken care of most of the light snow that fell last night!

The girls came over to join us for Garry's birthday supper. He wanted spareribs, mashed potatoes and carrots, with Black Forest Cake for dessert. All things that I am not supposed to have, but hey, it's his birthday and his choice. I had a small bit of mashed potatoes and a very small piece of his birthday cake....and I suffered for it!. Dairy, sugar and I definitely do not do well together. I'm still feeling rather punk this morning. Oh well, a couple of days of avoidance should see me back to feeling better again seeing as I didn't have too much. It's good to know though.

My Thank yous.
1. Thank you for the wind that has helped to blow some of the snow away so I don't have as much shoveling to do today. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
2. Thank you for the girls living close enough to come over to celebrate with us. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
3. Thank you for the internet that allows us to keep in touch with family and friends and stay up to date in what is happening. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
4. Thank you for the water that flows freely from my taps to allow me to have fresh drinking water, but also water for all the uses in my house. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
5. It's payday today, yay billing paying happens today. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
6. Only a couple more weeks until I see the specialist again and hopefully find out when my surgery will be scheduled for. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
7. Thank you for the gift of healing that is taking place in Garry's leg. He sees the his specialist on Feb 8th and if all goes well, no surgery for him! Thank you, thank you, thank you.
8. Thank you for the blessing of warm vehicle that gets me back and forth to work. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
9. Thank you for the ability to smile, talk and communicate with those around me. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
10. Thank you for the blessing of a new day of life, an opportunity to be all that I have been created to be. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Have a wonderful Tuesday.
Hugs,
Wanda

Another Celebration day!

Monday, January 28, 2013

Happy Birthday to my hubby today! We have celebrated so many birthdays together, I hope there are still many more for us to celebrate together in the coming years. It's hard to believe that we have known each other for almost our entire lives. This year will also see us celebrating 39 years as a married couple. Wow! We have been through many highs and lows. We have grown up together and grown stronger together. Thank you for blessing my life in so many ways. Wishing you a wonderful birthday today. Hugs.

My Blessings:
1. A hubby who knows me better than anyone else on earth and who shares this life journey with me. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
2. Seeing Quin this weekend even if only for a couple of hours. He's off on another 2 week stint and we have the blessing of Sage to keep us occupied during that time. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
3. The girls are joining us for birthday supper tonight. Garry's favorite...ribs are in the slower cooker as I write. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
4. My slow cooker has become one of the most useful items in my kitchen. Thank you, thank you, thank you for the blessing of having one.
5. Thank you for hot water that flows effortlessly out of my taps each morning, allowing me to have a hot shower. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
6. Thank you for fresh fruit and veggies to eat. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
7. Having coconut milk available to me to replace the dairy. So healthy. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
8. Although I haven't eliminated any more weight of late, I have lost the bloated look and feeling since cutting out gluten, sugar and dairy. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
9. I am blessed with wonderful friends in my life that give me encouragement and support as I journey towards a healthier lifestyle. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
10. Although some days I feel very much like it's one step forward and two steps back, I'm at least moving forward. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Have a blessed and wonderful day, it is your choice.

Hugs,
Wanda

A big happy birthday to Garry, hope he thoroughly enjoys his birthday. Even when you are retired crock pots are nice, I have our supper cooking in mine, trying a new recipe braised pork chops, onions, apples and sweet potatoes, made pumpkin custard for dessert, there will be enough leftovers for lunch tomorrow, which is nice as in the afternoon I will be leaving for the church for another funeral dinner, so our lunch will be easy and quick, DH will be on his own for supper tomorrow as I'll be staying to help serve this time. It's been a dreary, gray day all day long, we might have fog this evening, glad we don't have to go anywhere. Also tomorrow it might get up to 60, then from Wed. on back to winter, crazy weather. I was cleaning out and straightening up the linen closet in the hall today and Mario found an empty shelf and climbed up into it and laid down, then later when I got the crock pot out of the hutch and forgot to shut the door he got in there and curled up, silly cat. Hope your day has been a good one and that you have a lovely evening celebrating Garry's birthday.

Hugs,
Shirl
