Garry made a quick trip to Red Deer and back yesterday. He had a chance to visit with his Mom while she is at his brothers place.
Kaeli has arrived safely in 100 Mile House, BC, where she will visit with friends for the next week.
Today, I will make sure that my house is all cleaned, any bills that have arrived are paid and generally prepare to enter the New Year with a clean slate. Funny how old superstitions that you have been raised on still work in your life. We were always taught that your attitude and behavior on January 1st also sets the tone for the New Year, hence all of us kids were on our best behavior on that day.

Garry heads back to work today and I am going to turn some of the leftovers in the fridge into a crock pot stew for dinner tonight.

My Positives:
1. As I review 2012, I can say that the positives certainly outweighed any of the negatives. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
2. The negatives that popped up in 2012, were great opportunities to learn and grow from. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
3. Garry and Kaeli both had travel mercies granted to them yesterday. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
4. It's the weekend and I will have time to get my house all organized. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
5. I am grateful that I own a crock pot that allows me to make healthy and nutritious meals while working on other projects. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
6. I have some gift cards that I received for Christmas that I will go out and use this weekend for items that I need. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
7. I had two cheques arrive in the mail yesterday, which is a great way to end the year with money coming in! Thank you, thank you, thank you.
8. I have mobility and freedom of choice in my life. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
9. I am surrounded by friends and family that care about me. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
10. I have been blessed in so many ways and have had the opportunity to pay it forward many times in 2012. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Have a great day,
Hugs,
Wanda

I like the idea that whatever you do on Jan 1st, you'll do for the rest of the year - so no housework, and plenty of R&R for me on New Year's Day! emoticon

The last Friday of 2012

Friday, December 28, 2012

The year is rapidly coming to an end. It's been a great year of growth and learning for me. I have overcome many obstacles which have made me a stronger person and I'm sure that as I continue on my journey to a healthier me, there will be many more.

Garry finally went to see the doctor yesterday and got some meds. He had to go for an xray and now some blood work this morning, then see the doctor next week for the results. Something, I hope that he does.
He is traveling to Red Deer today to have a brief visit with his Mom while she is at his brothers and back home again as he has to go back to work tomorrow.

My Blessings:
1. My new toaster oven works wonderfully. I can actually make toast in it! Thank you, thank you, thank you.
2. Garry finally went to see a doctor yesterday about his chest cold. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
3. I had a good night's sleep last night. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
4 It is Friday already and I've got a weekend ahead of me. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
5. The cold snap that we have been under is finally coming to an end. It's only minus 7 this morning, a far cry from the minus 28 that is has been. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
6. I get to go in to work a couple of hours later on Monday (yes, I have to stay a couple of hours later too.) Thank you, thank you, thank you.
7. Thank you for the gift of healing that is working in our household. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
8. I have been blessed with a new day of life and will make the most of today. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
9. I have my new word for 2013 - challenge, and I will do my best to keep it front and center in my mind as I work my way towards a healthier me. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
10. My year in review is in deed a wonderful year filled with many blessings and opportunities to share my lessons. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Have a wonderful Friday, enjoy the day.
Hugs,
Wanda

Yay for short work weeks, lol. We only got 2-3 inches of snow yesterday, looks like we may get a flurry or two today. Maybe this cold will kill out some of the germs. Everyone I talk to their either sick or been sick. I hope Garry gets in somewhere to get his cold checked out, Clenton seems to be doing much better today, had picked up some more over the counter cold medicine and it seems to have worked pretty good on him. Last night I finished reading the book "The Bridge" by Karen Kingsbury, I wrote about it and how it affected me on our chit chat thread today, I say the book was God sent. I need to get busy and find my word and rethink my plan for 2013, which is almost here. I want to thank you for another great year of being our leader on team, you have done a wonderful job and look forward to continuing our journey together for another year.

Hugs,
Shirl

Happy Boxing Day!

Wednesday, December 26, 2012

Well Christmas is over for another year, all the paper and boxes are gone to recycle and all the gifts are put away in their new homes.

We had a wonderful Christmas with all three kids home plus their friends. It's great how everyone's schedule works out with only minor adjustments to accomodate everyone.

Christmas eve saw us enjoying our main meal once again with all the all the table spread with foods. I have been able to make some minor adjustments to the the traditional meal without any complaints from anyone. More veggies as well as fruit were added to the menu. We had a great evening of visiting, playing board games and cards. A good old fashioned kind of Christmas.

My Blessings:
1. Being able to spend Christmas once again with my children and having their friends join us. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
2. Not having to cook on Christmas day as there were lots of left overs waiting to be eaten. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
3. Being blessed with so many thoughtful and wonderful gifts from a pastry cutter to new spatulas to a new toaster.
4. Wonderful and relaxing 5 days off work, now it's back to work tomorrow. Thank you, thank you, thank you for the time off.
6. Sitting around the table and playing cards and board games. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
7. Although I didn't get in many steps the past couple of days, we did have lots of laughter and I did attempt to be mindful of what I was eating. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
8. Hearing from friends and family from near and far. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
9. Blessed with a wood fireplace to enjoy the crackle and warmth of a winter fire. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
10. Blessed with all our needs being met and the knowledge that life is truly wonderful. Thank you, thank you. thank you.

Have a great Boxing day....New Year's is just around the corner!

Wanda

Your Christmas sounded wonderful and happy, the way it should be. The snow has begun here, so glad we got out and went to the store and got back before it started, that wind is very chilling, not good for a couple of sickies to be out in, but now we are home and that's where we'll stay. I am so glad you had five days to enjoy all the celebrating and that you could be surrounded by family and friends. Now to bring in the new year and continue our journey to healthiness. Enjoy this day before heading back to work and Happy Boxing Day.

Hugs,
Shirl

Wanda your 5 days sound like they were packed with all the necessary things that make for a joyous holiday. And you've had a healthy feast.

I've been exploring juice feasts and am thoroughly enjoying my new hurom juicer and I'm also using my blender for morning smoothies. These two new machines in my artillery have made breakfasts and lunches at work about as healthy as it gets which I've really needed recently. I remember when I got my first teaching job - I needed a car to get there and needed the job to pay for the car. It's a little like this again. I needed these kitchen gadgets to manage my meals so I omitted the intake of germs that run rampant with being in contact with so many different people every day and the job to pay for the gadgets. So again - it all works out in the end.

Have fun planning your next mini vaca ... and Have a Happy New Year 2013! emoticon

Ahhh, Sunday...time for spiritual tending.

Sunday, December 23, 2012

Lots of snow last night, so much shoveling to do today. On the plus side, Garry and I can both do it and we don't have to go to work, so not rush!

Other than going to the store first thing tomorrow morning for fresh veggies, buns, and milk...I'm all set for making dinner tomorrow evening and for company.

I'm going to take a couple days off from posting and blogging, just because we will have company and it's Christmas! I'll pop back on again on boxing day.

My Positives:

2. Garry is home to help out with the shoveling of snow today and we don't have to go work so no rushing. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
3. Bills are all paid, so will be heading into the New Year with no debt other than the mortgage. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I love living free of credit card debts.
4. We made our Costco run yesterday morning before the store got crazy and finished off the last minute stocking stuffers. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

6. I've been staying on track fairly well. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
7. We are blessed with friends and family that surround us with positive energy. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
8. I'm looking forward to what 2013 may have in store for us, it's exciting to realize that we are already 13 years into the new millennium. Thank you, thank you, thank you for this opportunity.
