Going through my Christmas recipes....

Sunday, November 25, 2012

I'm going through my Christmas recipes and trying to decide which ones I want to make this year. I'm planning on giving much of it away as gifts. Next weekend my girls and I are going to begin our baking spree. Should be lots of fun.

We got a bit of snow yesterday, but not enough to have to get out there and start shoveling. With the way the sky looks this morning though, it might be a different story.

My thank you's:

1. Thank you that the snow plows came through our residential street yesterday and plowed the snow. Now if they only come back today and remove all the big windrow they left in the middle of the street, that would be awesome. Having to drive down the wrong side of the street to get to the intersection is not fun! Thank you, thank you, thank you.
2. Thank you for the get together with Shyra and Kyle yesterday. We had a great time at lunch with them. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
3. Garry's good eyes and taste helped to spot the perfect Christmas ornament for our granddaughter yesterday. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
4. Thank you that I have warm clothes to wear during the winter months. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
5. Thank you for all the Christmas decorations we have collected over the years that help to make our home looking like the holidays. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
6. Thank you that we are all on the same page about opening our home during the holidays to others. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
7. Thank you that as a family we allow ourselves to be used as God sees fit. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
8. Thank you for the daily blessings that come our way and for the ability to appreciate them. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
9. Thank you for the gift of healing that is restoring and mending not only my body, but the body of Garry. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
10. Thank you for those around us that are still with us because their life mission is not yet done. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Have a wonderful day, be grateful for all the blessings in your life.

Hugs,
Wanda

Yay, grey skies but no snow!

Saturday, November 24, 2012

It's the start of my weekend and I'm thrilled that isn't involving snow shoveling first thing this morning.

Poor Garry is still under the weather with his cold, it starts to sound better and then it's back full force again. If he doesn't start getting better soon, I will try to persuade him to go to the doctor.
(good luck with that Wanda!)

I made a great crock pot of turkey veggie soup for dinner last night. Lots left over for lunch today. I want to start some of my Christmas baking today also. Kaeli and I are making Christmas gifts of baking and such this year. She and Shy are coming over next weekend to help out. I'm just jumping the gun and getting started this weekend.

Kaeli's friend, JF, let her know that he is going to be in town for three days over Christmas. He and Kaeli used to work together at the airlines. JF has a scheduled (on the ground) layover right at Christmas here in Edmonton. We have invited him to come and spend Christmas with us. I can't imagine being stuck somewhere all by yourself over Christmas.

I ended up coming home from work early yesterday. The janitors had cleaned all the hallway floors and the staff room floor. I lasted about 4 hours at work before I couldn't deal with the smell any more. I'm still stuffed up, but no longer have a headache, nausea or feel like I'm going to burst blood vessels from sneezing. My muscles are still achy, but it takes a few hours for the residual to leave my body completely. On the plus side....it was a Friday and I got to go home early!

My positives:
1. I got to come home early from work yesterday, have a nice long nap and start my weekend. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
2. Kaeli stopped in after her work yesterday to check on me and stayed for a nice long visit. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
3. I had time to make a lovely crock pot of turkey/veggie soup for supper. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
4. Grey skies, but no snow yet to shovel. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
5. My Christmas present that I ordered online for Shyra arrived and both Kaeli and I are thrilled with it. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
6. Almost time to start the Christmas baking, love the smells of Christmas. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
7. Only minus 7 this morning, beats the minus 22 and wind chills we have been having. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
8. I am working hard at staying on track and away from the goodies that are already fast appearing at work. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
9. The gift of healing that is restoring my body and spirit. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
10. Love the signs of Christmas that are starting to appear on peoples home. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Have a wonderful weekend...take the time to really appreciate all that you have.

Hugs,
Wanda

Glad you didn't have to shovel this morning. When will you know the results from your MRI? Hope Garry gets to feeling better. I am just taking it easy today, yesterday was a long busy day, but so much fun to be with family, we had 24 at dinner. I'll have to get the recipe from my one DD for the stuffed squash she made, it was oh so good. That is so nice of you to offer your home for the young man, it would be lonely being on your own at Christmas. Sounds like you have a good start of your Christmas shopping and getting started on the baking too, you are amazing. Enjoy your weekend.

Hugs,
Shirl

Fabulous Friday!

Friday, November 23, 2012

Yay, it's my favorite day of the week once again! Seems a shame that such a great day only comes around once every seven days! *grin*

It's been a busy week at work and I am more than ready for a couple of days off. This weekend I will spend it getting my recipes all organized and make sure that I have all the ingredients together. Next weekend the girls and I are planning on having a baking spree. It will be mostly Kaeli and I as Shyra has a Christmas party to go to out of town on Dec. 1st, Shy will be with us part of the day though, so that is great.

Garry leaves next Thursday to head to Saskatchewan for his Mom's 80th birthday surprise. Quin is hoping to be able to go with him. All of Garry's siblings are going, so will be a great time for their Mom.

My Blessings:
1. No shoveling of snow this morning, although I may be doing it when I get home from work. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
2. I have a doctor's appointment next Wednesday to hopefully discuss the results of my MRI. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
3. We are blessed with a warm home to live in, especially appreciated during this cold weather. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
4. Time this weekend to tidy up my house and to work on my Christmas list. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
5. Blessed with the ability to move my body and to navigate freely in my world. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
6. Blessed with the freedom of choice. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
7. Blessed with health and a body that functions without assistance or medication. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
8. I am blessed with unconditional love from my family and they in turn are blessed with unconditional love in return. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
9. I am blessed with faith, sometimes lots and sometimes only the size of a mustard seed, but blessed none the less. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
10. I am blessed with a job that I enjoy doing and a paycheque every two weeks. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Have a wonderful day, consider all the things that you are blessed with.

Hugs,
Wanda

Nov 22 Happy American Thanksgiving!

Thursday, November 22, 2012

Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends.

I realized this morning when I logged on that I had missed yesterday! Take me out of my routine and look what happens *grin*.

I went for my MRI yesterday morning bright and early. I had to be there for 7am, appt. at 7:30, but it meant leaving home even earlier. We had very icy roads to watch for and snowing, so even earlier than we would have had to go on a good day. On the plus side....because we got there in good time and the person that was supposed to have their appt at 7am hadn't arrived, I got in early. Woo Hoo.
Earlier back to work also meant that I didn't have as long a day as what I thought I was going to have. Yay. Pluses all around.

My Thankyou's:
1. Thank you for getting us safely to my appointment yesterday morning and back again. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
2. Thank you for Garry being willing to do the driving. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
3. Thank you that my work day was not as long as it might have been. Thank you, thank you. thank you.
4. Thank you that it has stopped snowing and I don't have to shovel snow this morning. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
5. Thank you that my co-workers had a safe trip to and from Calgary yesterday as well as a successful shopping trip to the warehouse. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
6. Thank you that budgets at work are on target for being spent. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
7. Thank you for payday yesterday. I love coming home and paying any bills that need to be paid. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
8. Thank you for the blessing of a new day of life in which I can grow and learn. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
9. Thank you for my family and friends without whose care, support and love, I would truly miss. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
10. Thank you for the gift of smiling...it's free and it's in my control. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Have a wonderful day,
Hugs,
Wanda

It's snow shoveling time again!

Tuesday, November 20, 2012

I woke up to the snow falling once again. I'll be out the door shortly to begin shoveling before heading to work.
Poor Garry is having a rough time with this cold he has obtained. He seems to always end up with it in his chest. Let's just say that his sleep last night (and mine) was frequently interrupted.

I'm hoping that the today's snow doesn't make for bad roads tomorrow as my co-worker and some of the selectors head to Calgary for some in warehouse shopping at United Library Services. I was supposed to go, but unfortunately my MRI got changed to tomorrow.

My thank yous:
1. I am thankful that my sinus issue is well on the road to being gone. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
2. I am thankful that I have the ability to shovel the snow that it coming down. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
3. I am thankful for nice warm and energizing porridge to start my day. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
4. I am thankful that finally tomorrow I will have my MRI for my knee. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
5. I am thankful for the gift of healing that is working in my body and in Garry's. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
6. I am thankful that God's grace is given to me each and every day. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
7. I am thankful that I have a loving and caring family, that has always got each others backs. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
8. I am thankful for the many blessings in my life, big and small. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
9. I am thankful the unlimited opportunities to make choices for a healthier me. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
10. I am thankful for the websites and the people behind them that work hard to provide quality information and guidance to enable others to strive for a healthier lifestyle. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Have a blessed and wonderful day.
Hugs,
Wanda

Our 50 degree temps would help melt some of your snow, plus we are suppose to get light rain off and on today, our temps will start going downwards on Friday and Sat. we may see a mix of rain and snow. Hope Garry gets to feeling better. Just learned last night that son was at ER he has bronchitis, he had a lot of trouble with that last year too. There weren't a whole lot at church on Sunday due to illness. Praying your MRI will show what's going in with your knee and then the doc will know what can be done to help it get better.

Hugs,
Shirl
