Motivation Monday tomorrow!

Sunday, July 06, 2008

A crazy weather day today, one minute beautiful and sunny, and the next black clouds and thunderstorms! An on again off again day!
Decided that if I was going to get any walking in today, it was going to have to be indoors. Shy, I and Garry headed out to a mall and wandered around for an hour and back home again.

Positives for my day.

Got some walking in, even though it was indoors.
Garry spoilt me again tonight, he cooked supper. Stuffed baked potatoes, corn on the cob and a great salad (left over from last night, but still great!). It was raining so the steaks didn't make it to the BBQ. Tomorrow is another day!
Got some reading time in. Reading a book called Quantum Wellness and as I was reading Kathy's blog, I was reminded of a section in the book I read last night. Service is one of the eight pillars of wellness...when we serve others, we feel better.
A quiet sort of day, a lazy day, but a wonderful day all the same.

Have a great evening, tomorrow is Motivation Monday...share a motivation tip or drop in on another SP'er and be a motivation to them.

Thanks again for your comment on my blog... It's funny how those things work... So tomorrow I will work on giving , in moderation, some motivation to someone... lol

Have a wonderful evening...

Wanda - Your supper sounded yummy. Sometimes I like meatless suppers. Love corn on the cob. Motivation Monday, huh? Oh my. Don't know if I can motivate anyone let alone myself! Yikes. What a challenge!

Your day sounded a little like mine. Just a nice, lazy Sunday, except I didn't get out and walk! We've had storms off and on also for the last few days and it's supposed to continue for a few more days.
Well, you have a good night and enjoy the rest of what's left of the weekend. Love and hugs.

Saturday's blog

Saturday, July 05, 2008

Thought I'd cool things off a bit with the picture. My girls decided to make snow people and place them in the lawn chairs after we had gotten a dump of snow this spring. The weather had been so nice that we had put out the lawn chairs and then we got winter again!

I didn't blog last night as we were having severe thunderstorms and the lightening was abundant. I shut down the computer just in case there was a problem.

Bonus....beautiful lightening displays, rain for all the grass and plants (and weeds!).

Gorgeous day out today, I had my monthly theraputic massage. I love that once a month treat! It helps so much to keep me moving freely and feeling great.

Managed to get a 10 minute walk this afternoon before the thunderstorms opened up on us again. It was amazing to watch the black storms clouds come rolling in, the breeze picking up drastically and my footsteps hurrying more and more as I tried to beat the raindrops. I had planned on a nice long walk, but as I heard the thunder and saw how fast the clouds were moving in, I just made it around the neighborhood circuit before the skies opened up. Got slightely damp, but as I was only about 1/2 a block away from home and the rain had just started it wasn't too bad. It only lasted about 20 minutes before moving on.

Garry cooked supper on the bbq tonight, he and Shy had pork suvlki(?sp) and we had baked potatoes with onions and an awesome veggie filled salad. Sure was good.

After supper, I decided that it looked safe enought to venture out again for another attempt at a good walk. Yea! I made it a nice 40 minute walk. It's very muggy out, so thinking there is still more storms on their way.

My positives today....

A theraputic massage that always leaves me feeling terrific.
A scurried walk around the neighborhood.
A spectacular lightening display last night, and an awe inspiring thunder storm that rolled in this afternoon.
Garry cooked on the BBQ, and made a great salad with baked potatoes.
An opportunity to get in a longer walk after supper tonight.
My highlight....I wore a skirt today for the first time in about 15 years. It was another milestone on my road to a healthier me!

Hope you have all had a wonderful day, keep smiling and living each day to the fullest.

Looking at that snow cooled me off and it sure felt good!!! That's the one thing I miss living here. You sure sound like you had a great day!! Your supper sounded grrrrreat! Yum. I have NEVER had a professional massage. I had planned to get one, but we won't go there! I'm going to try and save enough to get one though, they're not too expensive here, about a hundred and sixteen dollars (if I remember correctly) for an hour and a half. That was the one I was going to get, but sent my son instead because he had been so stressed out at the time too. I think it's only about sixty for either a half hour or forty minutes, something like that. Anyway, I swear I'm getting one before I die!! It's something I've always wanted to do so bad. I know how much you must enjoy that.
We've been having thunder and lightening and rain here also since the fourth! They had to cancel the fireworks display because of it. Then we had them yesterday too and supposedly we're due for more for the next couple of days.
I really love reading your blogs. They are really inspirational.
I hope I get where you are someday. I'm working on it.
Have a terrific day. Love and hugs.

I love snow people! Glad you shared that picture with us.

I love thunderstorms but don't like to be caught out walking in them either. Way too dangerous. So many positives you had today. Glad to hear it.

Enjoy your day tomorrow....

Cute guests in the lawn chairs. LOL You have surpassed me I don't know how to take pictures and put on the internet yet. Maybe later. I bet your girls had fun building them. My neighbor and I make snowmen when we get enough. We still play in it. Our neighbor across the street won't play outside with us but she makes hot chocolate and brings to us. We build her snowman too.

I like to watch the storms but I am very leary of lightning. It can cause too much damage.

Girls dinner out...

Thursday, July 03, 2008

Just got back from a "girls" dinner out. No one wanted to cook as it's been so hot here the past few days. We decided a nice air conditioned place would be perfect. Caesar salads were top of the list for food. As I had ample room in my calorie range, I could afford the salad with it's creamy dressing. I do enjoy Boston Pizza's caesar salad. Plus the fact that you can goggle to get the nutritional value for BP's menu is very helpful.
My doctor phoned me at work today, to tell me that she had taken time to check out SP website and was very impressed with how user friendly and information filled it was! She must have searched the site for a bit as she was very enthusiastic about how it worked and what was available on it. Yep, I think she will definitely be recommending it to others! Three cheers for Sparkpeople!
My positives for today...

...Top of my list...dinner out with my girls!
...SP friends who send me emails and keep me informed of what has been happening during the day while I am at work.
...The shocked look on a co-workers face when she asked me in that polite way that people have of asking "how are you" and they don't really expect an answer...and I answered " you know what, I am just fantastic, life just couldn't be better". I actually started to laugh, she was so shocked...she didn't know what to say other than, "well I'm glad someone is enjoying the day!" Do you think she might have been a wee cranky???
...The fact that I have awesome friends and family.
...Tomorrow is fabulous Friday and the beginning of another great weekend.

Life is too long to spend it being miserable. When life isn't going the way you want it to, then stop and change your direction.

Have a wonderful evening.

Hope you have a wonderful day my friend.

Wanda - Your positive attitude is catchy! Beware!!! LOL I love it. People... when they ask "how are you" I don't think they ever expect someone with such enthusiasm as you showed today! What a good answer!!

Nice dinner out too. Glad you enjoyed & didn't have to cook.

Oh, yes, by the way, I have no dialysis until Mon. I have to be ultra careful now. I got woke up at 2:30 am with leg cramps then again at 5. Hate that.

Have a great weekend Wanda.

I can remember when I worked it seemed people came to work already aggravated or irritated about something. I always felt like there was a lot to be grateful for. When it was cold I had a comfortable job inside and when it was hot I had a comfortable air conditioned job...........good benefits..........and for the most part I enjoyed the people I worked with. Good comment to your co-worker it becomes habit forming to others.

A night out with your girls I always love that too.

Dinner with the girl's sounds just great!! And so did the Ceasar salad!! I love those too. I'm glad your Dr. took such an interest in SP as to actually go to the site and check it out. I wish more Dr.'s were like that. I bet she'll be helping a whole lot of people get on the path to healthiness.
I love what you did at work with your co-worker!! And you know what? That's catchy!! I bet before long you'll have the whole office running around grinning and loving life!! Tomorrow is our 4th of July, so there's usually a lot of BBQing and of course fireworks in the evening. Looking forward to taking the kids to see the fireworks, they just love it of course.
Well, you continue to have a wonderful night. Hugs.

Great results!

Wednesday, July 02, 2008

Today felt like a Monday, with having a day off yesterday because of Canada Day, the week just seems lopsided now! A good day at work though. Very busy, you would have thought we had been closed for a week with the amount of library traffic!

Great results at the doctors today re my blood pressure. She did confirm that the lightheadedness, the feeling of being slightly off balance when I moved too quickly was due to my blood pressure dropping. The plus side....although my blood pressure has never been an issue and has always been in the "normal" range of low 120's over 81, my new blood pressure made her very excited. Last week's reading was 106/78 and today's 112/68. She was thrilled with how healthy the reading is. It will take awhile for my body to adjust to the new lower rate, as it's more or less just come to the realization that I've eliminated weight and my heart is not having to work as hard. WOO HOO! She informed me that as we age our blood pressure naturally begins to rise as our heart starts to wear out, so the lower my blood pressure is to begin with the better chance I have of avoiding medication as I get older. She is very pleased with how well I am doing with eliminating weight and making healthy lifestyle changes and was asking lots more questions about SP. She wants to promote SP even more than she has been as a way of helping more people change to a healthier lifestyle. I'm more than happy to give positive accounts about SP.

My positives today....

Great doctor's report, no blood pressure problems, just a nice healthy low blood pressure.
A busy day at work, the day went by very quickly.
Positive feed back from SP friends, family and my doctor.
Had time to do my cardio today, burned those 500 calories with walking!
Being alive to enjoy all the blessings that have come my way.

Well, it's Thirsty Thursday tomorrow, Marla, I know this one is one you aren't able to do, so I challenge everyone one else who is positive blogging to drink an extra glass in Marla's name!

Have a fantastic evening, give your loved ones and extra hug, just because.

I am so happy that the whole blood pressure issue was actually a good one!! That gave me some information that I didn't know! That is really terrific news. You're definitely doing all the right things inside and out.
Thanks for the advice on my blog. I will definitely give it a try. It's so hard when you've done the opposite for years. My mantra on waking up has been "oh ..... another day of ......." and I guess I HAVE been setting the tone for my day that way. But I AM trying. That in itself feels good. Now I have to get back into exercising and eating correctly again. It all went down the drain right before I got sick and I haven't done anything good for my body since. So, lots of changes to be made, but like you said, baby steps. Thanks so much for all the support and encouragement. And reading all of our blogs really helps too.
Have a great day. Hugs.

Here's and extra ((HUG)) for you... LOL
Now about the water... You will see that I wrote something about that on my blog... Have you talked to your doctor about drinking more than 8 glasses? I'm confused about it... Now I understand that if you do a lot of exercising that you would want to replace any that you lose, but I don't do that much exercise...
But I will see what I can do tomorrow about and extra glass just for thirsty thursday... lol and you!

GREAT NEWS about your BP.... I'm like you and have very low "normal" BP... always under 120/80 but more like 110/68... So glad that that was what caused your dizziness the other day.
It's great that she wants to promote SP to others...

Please let me know what you think on the water thing... I'm curious as to what you have learned...

((HUGS)) Yet another hug for you... LOL

It's Canada Day!

Tuesday, July 01, 2008

It's CANADA DAY! We are officially 141 years young, very young according to other countries, but it's still our birthday!

Sorry for not blogging yesterday, the neighbors kids had a party on Sunday night out in their back yard. Let's just say, it was not quiet! The temperature was 32 c during the day, so understood why they preferred to be outside, but we had to have out windows closed and still the noise was much. Finally went out at 1:30 am and asked if they could keep it down as I had to be up at 5am for work. At 3 am, I was not so polite...told them that in case they weren't aware, it was 3 am, I had to be up in 2hours, and to take it indoors. Finally by 3:30 am they did just that. Needless to say, not much sleep and a day's work ahead of me. By the time I got home yesterday, I was bagged. In bed by 6:30pm and slept until 7 am this morning! Good thing it is a stat holiday today, I'd have been late for work otherwise!

Got a great walk in this morning. I walked to the parade route and watched the parade then walked home again. My lazy family was just getting up when I got home. It's going to be another hot day here, so not sure how much outdoor things we will do, but fireworks tonight should be nice.

It's Talking Tuesday today, so don't forget to check in with some SP friends and maybe a newbie or two. Have an awesome day, keep your focus on your healthy lifestyle.
Thanks Jen, for checking up on me, love your sense of humor.

My positives, (almost forgot to add them!)

I had a great sleep last night, many hours!
A super walk this morning and a parade to watch!
A stat holiday today, so a day off during the week.
Thanks Jen for your sense of humor and checking up on me.
SP friends, who are so encouraging and caring.
A post on my sparkpage that left me feeling great. (they all do, this one was just from someone I don't yet know)
Although, limited sleep on Sunday night, I got through the work day and the party did eventually end!
The party was a great reminder to me to not allow myself to get angry...to focus on the fact that everything happens for a reason.
I do admit though, by 3 am I was a little "testy". LOL.

It's a great day, a new day, a day to be creative on my blank canvas, to make it whatever I chose.

Wanda, I'm glad that you got caught up on your sleep... Thank goodness for days off so you were able to sleep in today... I hope you enjoyed that parade... I haven't seen one in a long time... I never seem to remember when they are happening...
I hope that you have a nice holiday today... Our Independence day is on the 4th of July... Woo Hoo... another day with friends and a BBQ.
I'm kinda tired tonight... Think I'll get off here soon...

Have a good evening...

You truly are a lot more patient than I. Around here if it is loud enough to interfere with sleep the police will intervene. We have a dog next door that barks a lot but I guess we have gotten used to it I hardly notice any more. I kind of like him being out there because we are on a back lot and if anyone comes around he barks.

A day off and a nice morning walk. Sounds like a lot of celebration going on up there. Enjoy that day off.

Wanda, I don't know how you do it! Those kids wouldn' t have made it past ten with me!! The noise odinance law here is nine, so I would have been well within my rights to be cussing and yelling by ten and probably would have been!! LOL You are truly a saint! I'm glad you were able to get a really good night's sleep last night though, and the walk and parade sounds wonderful.
Hmmm, maybe I should move to Canada!! It's so beautiful there. Of course, that's the memory of a child of around nine or ten!! LOL We went to the Expo there in the sixties (I think it was) and I believe it was in Ontario? Memory isn't quite good that far back!! LOL Enjoy your day off. Your Canada Day sounds like our 4th of July which of course is this weekend.
Have a great day, I see my pop-up alert just said you sent me something, so I'm going to see what it is. Love and hugs.
