Happiness...Webster's definition:
1 obsolete : good fortune : prosperity
2 a : a state of well-being and contentment : joy b : a pleasurable or satisfying experience
3 : felicity, aptness

How often do we think we will be happy" if only"? The fact is...we can choose to be happy regardless of who or what is in our lives. We do not need to rely on this happening or that happening, or this or that person being in our lives.
Happiness comes from within ourselves. We decide if we are going to be happy. Happiness is only dependent upon whether or not we decide we are going to be happy regardless of circumstances. Oh, I know there are circumstances out there that seem impossible to rise above, the fact is though, when we allow those circumstances to decide for us, we are giving away our power. We are giving those circumstances rent-free head space, we giving the circumstances the power to control us.
No, it's not easy to be happy all the time, but it is our choice. Do we keep ourselves in a situation that surrounds us with negativity, or do we choose to remove ourselves from that situation. By creating positives in our lives, we create a happier life. Our thoughts have the power to manifest themselves. The more we think on our thoughts (negative or positive) the more those thoughts work to create the life we are thinking about.

My grateful list:
1. I am grateful for today, it is a new opportunity to be the best I can be.
2. I am grateful for my family and friends that through their actions and reactions teach me many lessons.
3. I am grateful for the coolness of the night time that allows me to sleep comfortably.
4. I am grateful for my job, work that I enjoy, which allows me to earn a living.
5. I am grateful my knee brace that is helping to keep my knee stable and perhaps move along the path to healing.
6. I am grateful for the internet that allows me to stay in touch with family and friends.
7. I am grateful for my local library that allows me to borrow books to help me to learn and grow as well as to provide me with entertainment.
8. I am grateful for my Fitbit that helps me to keep motivated and moving.
9. I am grateful for my back yard and the tranquility that it provides.
10. I am grateful that God never gives up on me, even when I give up on myself.

Have a wonderful day, choose to be happy today.

Wonderful blog. Liked the daily challenge you gave us yesterday, you do good work. I chose to be happy today, it sure beats being sad and mopy (sp). I have a cool smooth jazz station playing over my internet, it mellows me out, tomorrow Ill be doing more cleaning so will put the oldies back on. Tomorrow is the last of the free summer concerts, hope our DD, SIL and GS will join us again. Happily enjoy your evening.

Each day our day is filled with so many blessings that we just take for granted. If they weren't there though, we would certainly notice. I'm finding that as I give thanks for all the blessings in my day each and every day, I am gaining an even deeper appreciation for all that I have. It's a great exercise and an eye opener.

1. I am grateful for the lessons that come my way each day that help me to better understand my life and the lives of those around me.
2. I am grateful for a brain that allows me to comprehend and appreciate my daily life.
3. I am grateful for times that I may not understand what is happening, but I can trust that God sees the bigger picture and will reveal to me what I need to know when I need to know it.
4. I am grateful for arms and legs that work so that I might go through my day without assistance from someone or something else.
5. I am grateful that I live in a country that allows to me my own choices.
6. I am gratefulfor having a backyard that I can grow a veggie garden in so that we can have fresh veggies.
7. I am grateful for the donation of 3 large rain barrels so that we can set up a watering system for my garden and plants.
8. I am grateful for alarm clocks that will wake me up as need so that I arrive at work on time.
9. I am grateful for having a partner to do my virtual walking with, without her I probably would have lost interest.
10. I am grateful for getting on the "cancellation list" at the hospital where I will get my MRI...this way if there is an earlier appt, I will get called.

Have a great and wonderful day. Think about all the things that you have to be grateful for.

Keeping things positive.

Monday, August 27, 2012

It is so easy to not like Mondays. Poor Monday...so badly thought of. I'm working on keeping a positive attitude though. I've been putting into practice starting my day by actually writing out 10 positive/grateful things in my life , re-reading them and absorbing them into my mind set. Just an exercise that I have been trying to help keep me thinking positively. It's working|!

It sometimes takes a bit of thought to come up with 10 things first thing in the morning, so much easier to list off things that I think are not so great. I've been doing a bit of reverse psychology on myself...if I come up with a negative, then I find the positive within it. (e.g. Monday...my weekend is over and I have to go to work, the positive within...It's Monday, a new day, I am blessed with a job to go to that allows me a means of earning a living).

Let's see what I can do today.

1. I am grateful for it being warm enough to leave the window open last night and enjoy the light breeze coming in and freshening my home.
2. I am grateful for my hubby who willingly gets up earlier than he needs to to drive me to work, so that we don't have the expense right now of a second vehicle.
3. I am grateful for a trip to Costco yesterday so that I have a fridge full of fresh fruit and veggies.
4. I am grateful for running water allowing me to have a shower in the mornings to not only wake up, but to feel clean.
5. I am grateful for my knee brace that allows me knee to be more stable as I walk.
6. I am grateful that my doctors office phoned and let me know that my MRI appt (originally book for Dec 15) has been moved forward to Nov 10. I will leave it in God's hands.
7. I am grateful for the friendship that I have on Positive Bloggers that gives me something bright to look forward to each and every day.
8. I am grateful for Kismet who shows me unconditional love and teaches me not to take myself so seriously.
9. I am grateful for the bounty of potatoes that I have harvested from my garden. I have more digging to do, but so blessed with what we have already.
10. I am grateful for eyes that can read allowing me to learn much from the books I bring home from the library.

Yep, truly blessed on this Monday morning.
Have a great and wonderful day. I challenge you to count your blessings each day also.

Love your list. We got rain last night, but it's muggy this morning, this is going to be a mixed week with a few cooler days and then some back up in the 90's, the dog day's of summer. Have a positively, positive Monday.

WOW, you are amazing at finding those positives :) You made me giggle in our chat room. Cutting the lawn at 4:30 a.m. would definitely not be me, LOL. I can't post there from work. It gives me a hard time because of this old windows and explorer, grrrrrr. I'll try to remember to post tonight :) Have a great day!

Serenity Sunday

Sunday, August 26, 2012

I have woken up with a bit of a headache, but think that's do to clenched muscles. Not sure what I was doing while sleeping, but it certainly wasn't relaxing. My neck and facial muscles are very sore this morning. Time for some meditation.
The wind has at least stopped and it appears that the sunny might be part of our day today.

We had a great visit with Samara, Robby and baby Jackson. Jackson is such a delight.

I didn't get a chance yesterday to get out and do some garden harvesting, so that will be on my agenda once again. The weather was not cooperating yesterday.

Today will be a day of spending time with God and recharging my spirit for the coming week.

My Positives:
1. The wind has stopped and the sun is making an appearance, love nice sunny days.
2. Visiting with family and enjoying baby giggles and smiles.
3. Time today for some meditation and reviewing all that I have to be grateful for.
4. Lessons, challenges and trials that God allows me to go through so that I might become a better person.
5. A lovely deal on some patio furniture for our front deck, someone was moving and we got her wicker love seat, 2 chairs and a table for $150.00. We will look at replacing the cushions next year as they are okay to use for what is left of this year.
6. A phone call from the doctor's office to say that my MRI has been moved forward to November 10....YAY. That a whole month earlier.
7. Eyes that see God's beauty all around me.
8. Healthy food in my fridge and cupboards.
9. Love, laughter and happiness in my home.
10. The freedom to make my own choices.

Have a blessed and wonderful Day,

Wonderful positives on this Serenity Sunday. Woo hoo for your MRI getting moved up. Clenton and I are going to church this morning to hear the Northmen, I like southern gospel too, we are even staying for the picnic, I have two pans of brownies ready to go. Sounds like you had a real nice visit with family. How did we get to the last Sunday of August so quick! Hope you get some of your harvesting done today.

Fall is here, I think!

Saturday, August 25, 2012

Wow, have the temperatures ever dropped, especially at night time. The last two mornings it has been on the chilly side in the house when we get up. Might have to think about turning the furnace on early this year!

Garry niece and her hubby are coming for a visit this afternoon. The girls will be coming over also. Should be a great family time.

It's time to start harvesting my potatoes. Hoping to get that all done today. With luck I will have a nice bunch.

My gratefuls:

1. I am grateful for the cooler nights, which make sleeping so much better.
2. I am grateful for family times.
3. I am grateful for being able to grow some of our own vegetables.
4. I am grateful for telephones that allow us to keep in touch with Garry's Mom.
5. I am grateful for owning a crockpot...my favorite way of cooking in the fall and winter.
6. I am grateful for the daily opportunities that come my way to help me to grow and learn.
7. I am grateful for running water that makes my house chores so much easier.
8. I am grateful for a washing machine and dryer that help me to keep our clothing clean and fresh.
9. I am grateful for my hubby who works hard to take care of his family.
10. I am grateful that God sees fit to grant me another day of life. There is so much that I want to accomplish in this lifetime yet.

Have a wonderful day. Don't forget to laugh and share laughter, it's good for the soul.
