Just checking in...

Just a quick check in this morning before heading out the door to work. We got home last evening and I'm still working my way out of holiday mode and back into work mode. I will drop in after work today to read the posts and catch up with everyone.

I've missed you all and looking forward to seeing what has been happening. I will post some pictures as soon as I get them organized.

Holiday time is finally here!

Okay, so I've been on holidays from work since Thursday...but bright and early tomorrow morning(before the birds even wake up) we are off on our family holiday trip. We have to drive to Fort McMurray first which is a 6 hour drive and then catch our flight to where we are going up north. We should arrive sometime tomorrow evening. I am so looking forward to being out of cell phone and internet reach. This way, Garry's phone doesn't keep ringing cause someone from work just needs a quick answer to a question!

Thank you Shirl for taking on the task of keeping things going.

My positives:

I am grateful for having the truck yesterday to get most of my errands taken care of.
I am grateful for coolers that will keep our food from spoiling.
I am grateful for friends who are willing to mind the cat for us and see that my garden is watered.
I am grateful for time off from work for all of us so we can enjoy a family vacation.
I am grateful for natural products that keep the mosquitoes at bay.
I am grateful for the opportunity to revisit places we grew up and to see old friends.
I am grateful for one more day to get the rest of my chores and errands finished in.
I am grateful for Shy working at the same place as I do, she was able to bring my holds from the library home for me , saving me a trip.
I am grateful for a new day of life and all the opportunities that lie in store for me.
I am grateful that I have protection and guidance from God, my guides and angels.

Busy day ahead

I need to drive Garry to work this morning so that I have the truck to run all my errands. It feels rather strange not to be heading off to work, but at the same time very good.

Yesterday we invited the couple over that has kindly offered to see to Kismet while we are gone. Randy loves animals and due to a recent heart attack is unable to work, so he's looking for something to do. He will drop over a couple of times a day he said to check on her. It was rather funny as we said once a day is enough and he said "Oh no, she will probably be lonely, so I will come and give her some company a couple of times a day". Such a nice man. He said he would even come over and water the garden as needed as well as spend some time sitting on the back deck so that Kismet can go outside for a while if she wants. (He is definitely bored!)

My positives:

I am thankful for friends that care and are willing to lend a hand.
I am thankful for sunny days with nice breezes that keep things just right for spending time out doors.
I am thankful that I didn't have to go to work this morning so that I can have the time to get ready for holidays.
I am thankful that we are going on holidays as a family and that we enjoy each others company.
I am thankful for impromptu potluck meals shared with friends.
I am thankful to have the time to check out a brace for my knee before we head up north.
I am thankful for the very great weekend that Garry and I had together to accomplish last minute chores.
I am thankful for the blessing of a new day of life to continue to grow and learn in .
I am thankful for the $10.00 that we won on our lotto ticket on Saturday...we could turn around and buy a new one for this week!
I am thankful for good health that enables me to keep moving forward.

Yesterday looked like the day was going to be rainy and then the sun decided to make an appearance, but with less of a vengeance that it has been. It was a beautiful sunny day, more normal temps for us and a lovely breeze to go hand in hand with it.

Garry and I both slept in (for us) yesterday and once we were up and about, we headed out to the city to see if we could find me a rain jacket for our up coming trip. We ended up at Wholesale sports and I could a really good deal on one....60% off! Very pleased with my jacket as it has a great hood with a visor on it that will help to keep rain drops off my glasses and lots of pockets for my camera etc. Once we had wandered the store and picked up a couple of other items we headed out to Tony Roma's for some lunch. I had a very good Caesar salad and Garry had his fish and chips. Headed back home to go to Costco to pick up a few items and over to the new Petsmart store that was having it's grand opening here in Sherwood Park. Picked up some new food for Kistmet. I love buying things there because if for some reason the pets don't like the food or item you have purchased, as long as you have the receipt and you haven't used up more than a bit of the item, you can take it back and exchange it for something different. With a very finicky eater....this works great.
Garry got called into work for a client about 5pm, but the girls stopped over for the evening so I had company and when Garry called and I told him the girls were here, he was able to get home quickly too. We had a great evening sitting out on our front deck and visiting and waving at neighbors as they passed by.

A great day.

My positives:

I am grateful for Garry being off work yesterday so we could spend the day together.
I am grateful for the person that told us about checking out Wholesale sports as I was able to get a fantastic buy on my raincoat.
I am grateful for our new Petsmart store opening in the Park, now I don't need to drive into the city.
I am grateful for being able to have lunch with my hubby allowing us time to chat.
I am grateful for the lovely sunny day with more normal temps and much less humidity. So much easier on the body.
I am grateful for finding some colored glow sticks to take with us on holiday, they will be so much fun to light for around the campfire at night.
I am grateful for our new front deck to enable us to get to know our neighbors as they pass by our house.
I am grateful for Quin texting us and letting us know that he and Sage arrived safely in Ft. McMurray. Technology is so wonderful.
I am grateful for our girls wanting to spend time with us as they are wonderful people to know.
I am grateful for a new day to be alive and the untold opportunities and positives that are in store for us this day.

August 11 and all is well

We had a lovely normal temperature kind of day yesterday. Sunshine interspersed with clouds and a nice breeze. It was actually nice to sit out on the back deck after my chores were all done.
I got my floors all washed...no more doggie footprints. I did 3 loads of laundry and even baked some gluten-free biscuits. The biscuits turned out not too bad. They have a bit of a different taste than regular biscuits, but good none the less.

No rain overnight, but it looks like a possibility of some during the day today. The skies are very overcast.

I'm off for my monthly massage this morning and then Garry and I are heading into the city to see if I can find an affordable rain jacket. I need something that I can wear in the boat when we are out on the lake.

My positives:
I am thankful for having the time to get my house cleaned up so that it is fresh and welcoming.
I am thankful for Wendy who gives me a wonderful massage once a month that helps my body stay in tune.
I am thankful for the rain that we have been having as it is allowing me to have a bumper crop of potatoes as well as giving Mother Earth a renewal.
I am thankful for a nice comfortable bed that enables me to relax and sleep.
I am thankful for the internet that allows me to search and find things of interest.
I am thankful for being able to make purchases online saving me money.
I am thankful for being a Canadian and living in such a wonderful country that gives me the freedom to be who I am.
I am thankful for guidance from God, my spirit guides and my angels, without them I would have no hope.
I am thankful for a new day of life, that yesterday is past and I can begin fresh each day.
I am thankful that all my needs are met and I can trust in my Creator to provide the opportunities that I need to grow and learn.
