Feeling damp seems to be a way of life...

Monday, August 06, 2012

This summer has been a summer of more humidity in the air than we have ever had. I feel like I am always damp and sticky!
We had a beautiful hot and sunny day yesterday, but the humidity really saps the energy. Last night another massive thunder and lightning storm with lots of rain. The rain actually hit the back door do hard that it seeped in under the door and onto the kitchen floor. Nice puddle waiting for me this morning to wipe up. At first I thought one of the animals had an accident, but nope wasn't them.

One more day of holiday time then back to work. A short work week and then only one day the following week before we head out on holidays.YAY.

My positives:
A great weekend of visiting with family.
All this humidity leaves me too tired to do anything but drink water...eating anything takes too much effort. I'm eating what is necessary, but certainly no indulging.
Blessed with life.

Have a wonderful day,
Hugs,
Wanda

Humidity does drain you, it's hard to find the omph to do anything. We are having a break from it for a few days, then heat & humidity will be back. I am ready for fall and the cooler temps and low humidity. Had good workout at the gym this morning, we have a resident meeting this afternoon. If you need someone to fill in for you while you are on holiday let me know and I'd be glad to help out, unless another team member would like to help out. Enjoy your extra day off.

Hugs,
Shirl

Enjoying the weekend.

Sunday, August 05, 2012

We had a very hot and sunny day yesterday followed by an amazing thunderstorm during the night. All the windows are fogged up this morning on the outside due to the humidity in the air. But the sun is shining again, so promises to be another warm day.

It is so nice to have Quin and Sage (the escape dog) here for a few days. Quin is taking his week long break from work and surprised us with a visit. He will head back up to camp just before we go so that things are ready for us when we get there.

Afton is thrilled that Quin is home for a few days too. We got to puppysit last evening while they went out for dinner.

My positives:

Fresh potatoes from my garden.
Visiting with Quin.
Almost finished another project that I have had on the go for ages at home.
Sun shine again today.
Blessed with family and new day of life.
God is so good.

Have a great and wonderful Sunday. Take some time to give thanks for all the blessings in your life.

Hugs.

It won't be long and you'll be off on your family adventure. Did they ever figure out how Sage managed to escape? She must be a pretty smart dog. Enjoy your evening.

Shirl

Yay, a bonus this weekend!

Saturday, August 04, 2012

I had a great day off work yesterday. Progress made in one of my projects. I had the whole day to myself as Garry was at work. Then he phoned to let me know that he had been invited to go golfing after work. Seeing as it was the first time this year that he has had the chance, I'm really glad that he went. So I ended up having the whole evening to myself too!

Part way through the evening I got a phone call from a gentleman telling me that they have my dog. Rather puzzled me as I told him that I don't have a dog. He then wanted to know why my phone number would be on the dogs tag. Light bulbs went off and I said oh my...can you describe the dog and would there also be a name engraved on the tag of Sage. Sure enough there was...I asked him if he would have a back yard that he could safely hold her in until I could get a hold of either my son or daughter to come and get her. I told him that my son must have unexpectedly come to town and as the dog must have escaped from him, she would have no idea where she is. I would try to reach Q on his phone, but barring that my daughter would be there asap to get Sage. (I have no transportation as Garry is golfing).
I couldn't reach Q on his phone, so sent him a text message hoping that he would receive it. Called Kaeli and ask her to please go get Sage. What an exciting evening my evening turned out to be.
About 20 minutes later, Shyra, Kaeli and Sage showed up at the house. Sage was so excited to see her family. Quin in the meantime had called me in response to the text...."have dog, call me". Apparently he was planning a surprise visit home for the weekend to see everyone, stopped at his friend's place to drop him off. They decided that they would leave Sage in TJ's house and go and grab something to eat. Somehow Sage got out. I'm still waiting to hear that story today. She more than likely panicked being in a strange place without Quin. She is so attached to him and having spent the past few months up north in the bush, she wouldn't have a clue where to look for him. Quin arrived to pick her up and visit for a few minutes before having to head out again. He and Sage will be back here today to spend the weekend.
I am so thrilled to see the two of them. I'm sure that Afton is even more thrilled to see Quin.

My positives:
Kind people found Sage and kept her safe until we could come and get her.
Surprise visit from Quin.
Looks like we might actually have a nice sunny day today.
3 more days left in my weekend.
Blessed with so much including a new day of life.

Have a great and wonderful day,
Hugs,
Wanda

I am so glad Sage got returned safely to her family. We still have hot & humid but be blessed with a good rain late tonight and early Sunday morning and then lower humidity and temps, I am ready for it. Margaret and I did get out for a walk this morning. Enjoy the rest of your weekend and a visit with son.

Shirl

My start to a lovely 4 day weekend.

Friday, August 03, 2012

Woke up this morning, which a blessing just in itself, decided that I would get a crock pot of veggie soup going. It's so nice to go to my garden and get things or at the very least use up the stuff from my garden last year that is in the freezer. On the bonus side...it is all gluten-free!

I went to bed last night with a very sudden stiff neck...not sure what I did, it's still there this morning...I'm thinking a nice hot soak in the tub might ease things a bit. So glad that I don't have to go to work this morning.

We still have over cast skies and looks like we might have rain yet again today. My poor garden is so wet. Even more reason to have a green house next year. I'm hoping that Garry can build me something this fall so that it is ready to go next spring. I would like something rigged up that will allow me to water/mist inside with my collected rain water. Garry keeps telling me that at the rate I'm going I will need a FARM! Nope, just a nice little acreage will do *grin*.

My positives:
Waking up this morning.
Although I still have the stiff neck, it just means that I will have to listen to my body and slow down a bit.
A lovely nutritious veggie soup on the go in the crock pot.
Time to clean up my kitchen and get things organized once again.
So blessed.

Have a wonderful Friday,
Hugs,
Wanda

Umm, veggie soup sounds delish and you don't even have to go to the store for your ingredients. Hope your can get your neck to relax, a stiff neck is no fun. We are in for another hot & humid day, now they are saying our best chance for rain is early Sunday morning. Enjoy your long weekend.

Hugs,
Shirl

Listen to the rhythm of the falling rain....

Thursday, August 02, 2012

I'm running a bit later than usual this morning...there is nothing more conducive to sleeping than the cooler temperatures and gentle raining.
The rain started around midnight last night and is supposed to continue all day. A gentle rain is nice. Much preferred over a large downpour. My poor garden though, hasn't had a chance to even dry out this year.
I went to check on my apples yesterday. The hail we had certainly bruised them all. Even knocked one of them off the tree. Siggghhh.
The leaves on all my plants are showing a bit of wear and tear. On the plus side though, I dug some lovely sized potatoes out from under one of my potato plants.

My positives:
Chatted with Afton for a few minutes yesterday. It was nice to touch base with her.
Still busy at work.
Today is my Friday. I have a lovely 4 day weekend ahead. It's a long weekend here in Canada.
Blessed with a new day of life.

Have a fun filled day. Share some laughs and smiles with those around you.

Hugs,
Wanda

Fresh, homegrown potatoes, nice. Is Quin doing ok? This has been a good day for us, DH got his catheter out and his plumbing is working just fine. Margaret and I are going to a free concert tonight downtown on the old courthouse lawn. There is a chance of rain, but I am hoping it waits till much later this evening, I could really use a night out with a friend. Enjoy your long weekend.

Hugs,
Shirl
