A busy week ahead

Tuesday, July 31, 2012

I have a really busy week ahead of me at work. Seems like my selectors have all decided to put in their orders at the same time. I worked on one order the entire day yesterday and will still need to finish it up this morning and get it sent. On the plus side of all the orders coming down at once...I am busy (which I love), budgets are getting spent, and everyone is happy to be getting new material.

We had hail, rain and high winds come through here last night. I haven't been able to check out my plants yet this morning as it's still dark outside. I'm hoping that my apples on the tree are not badly bruised and that my tomatoes are still intact!

My positives:
Busy at work.
We have a screen set up at work so that we can follow the Olympics. It's set up in our department, so we have people popping in and out. Two fellow staff members have family members that competing, so it makes it great to be able to follow their sports.
Life....so blessed.

Have a great and wonderful day,
Hugs,
Wanda

I'm back...

Monday, July 30, 2012

I'm back, but not sure that I am awake! We had a good weekend away but it's nice to get home to ones own bed. Too much sitting around, lots of visiting and too many late nights. I feel like I'm still in need of more sleep, but that's okay, it was worth the trip. It's a long drive (5 hours each way), but on the plus side, got to see family.

We visited the cemetery and followed the traditions of saying the final goodbyes and gave thanks for making it through the year. It was so nice to just have family there.

I did very well on my food intake, mainly because there was lots of green salads and I had brought much of my own gluten-free things to eat...I was actually prepared! Drank lots and lots or water as it was so incredibly hot and humid. So despite not getting much in the way of steps in, I did at least watch carefully what I ate and drank.

My positives:
See all the siblings.
Meeting our newest member of the family, Jackson, who is 3 months already.
My own bed,.
I have time to catch up on things at home.
Blessed with friends, family and life.

Have a great and wonderful day,
Hugs,
Wanda

Taking a wee break.

I'm taking a wee break from all posts and blogs. Leaving today and will be back on Sunday. Depending on when we get back, I will probably not post until Monday am.

Have a great weekend everyone, stay on track, move the body and have some fun.

Road crews

Thursday, July 26, 2012

I will be glad when the road crews are finished working on the roads a couple of streets over from us. They work on them all night and all you hear is the constant beep, beep of the machines as they back up and the vibration and thumping of the packer as it packs down the repairs. On the plus side we are not on that street! I feel so bad for those that are attempting to sleep while this is going on. I know how loud it is at our house, I can only imagine the volume in the houses even closer.
It is good that do work on them at night as they have fewer traffic interruptions, but they have been working on them for over two weeks already!

Sorry....just a tad cranky this morning. The lack of sleep is catching up with me. As I got out of bed this morning, all I could think about was being done work for the day and being able to crawl back into bed for a nap. On the bright side...it's my Friday...I have tomorrow off work.

My positives:

Kitty is taking her medicine as long as I dissolve it in her water and give her only a small dish with water/medicine. She has no option but to drink it if she wants a drink.
Today is my Friday.
We leave tomorrow for Saskatchewan for the weekend. Kaeli is coming with us, Shyra is going to be the animal sitter, and we heard that Garry's oldest half brother from BC is coming.
I have been blessed with a new day of life and I have the privilege of starting new each day.

Have a wonderful day,
Hugs,
Wanda

Kitty vs medicine

Wednesday, July 25, 2012

I stopped at the health food store yesterday on the way home to see about getting something for my poor kitty and her sore leg. I think that she has sprained it, she lets you touch it a bit and there doesn't seem to be anything broken. Getting her to a vet is not happening as she becomes very fierce and stressed. I googled for some information on what I could safely give her. Health Food stores carry something called Arnica. They sold me a very mild dose as Kismet is a light weight cat. I'm supposed to give her 5 of the little pellets 3x a day. There in lies the problem. She won't allow you to put anything in her mouth, so we didn't even go there. Disguising anything in her food doesn't work so well either. So I dissolved them in a very small amount of Kefir milk. She carefully lapped up a couple of laps and then that was it. So this morning, I'm attempting to dissolve them in some water to see if she will drink that up. The pellets apparently are supposed to taste good...I 'm not sure if that makes a difference to Kismet or not! I will see when I get home from work whether or not she has drank any of the water/medicine mixture.

My positives:
Lots of damage done by the storm the other day in surrounding areas, but no loss of life or homes. A dairy farm had the roof blown off one of their huge barns, luckily the cows inside were not seriously hurt. Lots of trees down and things blown around, but nothing that can't be fixed.
It's Hump day.
This weekend we are off to Saskatchewan to a family get together.
I'm gradually getting the melons I bought all chopped up, frozen and then vacuum sealed in portion sizes and into the freezer once again. Only 3 melons left to go and one of those I just might take as a part of a fruit salad for this weekend.
Life is good, we are blessed in so many ways, big and small.

Have a great day,
Hugs,
Wanda

Wanda, I love that you have a kitty. Try some liquid from a can of tuna or with a bit of tuna fish. The flavor of tuna is strong so it may mask the pill. :)

Hugs.

Good luck with getting the medicine in the kitty, it can be a challenge. Glad there was no loss of life from the storm. Enjoy time with Garry's family this weekend.

Hugs,
Shirl
