Back on track with my steps

Tuesday, June 19, 2012

I'm back on track with my steps after a lazy weekend. Met my goal yesterday and some.

The steps are now all secured and in place for the new veranda and if the weather holds, the rails should be going up today or at least some of them. YAY.
I will take some pictures when it's all done so that I can share them with you. We won't be able to stain the veranda until next spring, as apparently you are not supposed to stain treated wood right away. I'm not sure if that is just the guys way of getting out of doing it now or if that is really true *grin*.

Crazy day at work yesterday for me. The first 3 hours of my day were spent being unable to get onto my computer. It apparently the domain did not recognize my computer. I found other things to do, but it wasn't anything that decreased the pile of work on my desk! I had to wait until a techie arrived at work and then get him to work on the issue. Finally up and running by half way through my work day, so I was able to tackle some of the priority stuff. This will be a busy week that's for sure.

My positives:
The veranda is almost done.
My recipe project is at the point that it is now just an updating project and adding of any new recipes. YAY!
Making progress with knitting strips for the teen club at the library.
Next project that I believe I will begin tackling is the "picture" project...this one is overwhelming but I will see if I can rope Kaeli into helping me with it *grin*.
My milk kefir grains are doing fantastic.
Blessed with a new day to be creative in.
Friends, family and life...what more could a body want.

Have a wonderful day,
Hugs,
Wanda

Yep, suppose to wait to stain the wood, but not sure if it is a whole winter though, LOL. Have a great day!

Time to step things up a bit again.

Monday, June 18, 2012

Well my weekend is over, the sitting around and visiting is behind me, now it's time to get back in the swing of things and get my body moving.

The girls were over on Saturday evening and then popped over for Dad Breakfast/Brunch on Sunday and to spend some time with Dad (and Mom). The day ended up being free of rain although not free of the wind. It was nice to at least be able to spend some time out on the back deck enjoying brunch and visiting.

A busy work week ahead of me. It is interesting how working a short week each week at the moment increases the amount of work that I need to fit into 4 days instead of 5. I'm okay with that though, no moments of trying to look busy, I am busy!

My positives:
A great weekend, more sunshine that rain...is this a new trend starting (she says tongue in cheek)
Family time.
My washing machine is working great once again.
Blessed with a great family and a new day of life.

Have a great and successful Monday, keep on moving that body.

Hugs,
Wanda

Glad the sunshine decided to shine for you. We did get some rain this morning, but need a lot more to help the farmers. I tracked nothing this weekend so am getting back on track today, made it to the gym and back home before the rain started, I'd have been soaked as it came pretty fast and hard at first. Enjoy your Monday.

Hugs,
Shirl

Happy Father's Day to all the Father's out there

Sunday, June 17, 2012

Happy Father's Day to all the Dads.

The morning is starting off with lots of sunshine, let's hope it stays that way. We also have some wind happening so who knows. We dd end up with a very nice late afternoon and evening yesterday. The girls came over for the evening and we lit the firepit in the back yard about 9pm and sat around until just after midnight enjoying the fact that it was nice enough to sit outside!

The front veranda is coming along nicely. We have some temporary steps attached now so that access to the front door is established. Once the railing is all on it will meet safety standards. I was hoping that we could stain the deck before the railing went up, but have been informed that you are not supposed to stain treated wood right away. It should be allowed to sit for awhile. Okay, I will believe them! Deck will most likely not get stained now until next spring.

The girls are coming over again for brunch this morning. They wanted to make Dad breakfast, but Dad insisted that he hasn't had the opportunity to make "Dad" breakfast for the girls for too long, so he wants to do it. Ok...it's Father's Day, it's his day, his choice of what he wants to do.

I didn't get much done in the way of steps yesterday with all the sitting around we did once the girls arrived and due to taking advantage of the opportunity to sit outdoors and enjoy some nice weather. Today might be the same **grin**.

My positives:
I am married to a great DAD.
Sunshine this morning.
Great neighbors that have been stopping by to see what we are doing and making positive comments on the veranda.
Blessed with a loving family.
Blessed with a new day of life.

Have a wonderful Sunday, celebrate the Dads in your life.

Hugs,
Wanda

Yay, we are supposed to get sunshine today!

Saturday, June 16, 2012

Today is supposed to be a sunshine day! Yay. I will take the day. We had periods of sun and down pours yesterday. My garden is looking pretty water logged. My potatoes are loving all the moisture though.

My celery has not ever popped it's head above ground as yet, thinking that I might just have to clean up that area of the garden and replant it with something else. Maybe radishes as they grow very quickly. Even my peppers are not showing much sign, nor my peanuts. Sigghhh. Oh well, some years it's like that. I will just have to reconfigure my garden plans. On the plus side though the onions, potatoes, kale and some of my tomato plants are doing pretty good. Tomatoes are struggling a bit with the lack of sunshine, but I do have some tomatoes on one of the plants already.

The front veranda is coming along real nice. It's definitely bigger than it looked on paper! It seems higher than I though it was gong to be, but once the steps are on and the lattice work all done on the bottom, it probably won't seem so high. I'm looking forward to being able to use it.

My positives:
Sunshine has been promised for today.
Front veranda is coming along nicely.
Recipe project should be finished up this weekend.
The girls are coming over tomorrow to help celebrate Father's Day.
Reading another great book that I will be adding to my personal collection: Kitchen Cures by Reader's Digest.(1,001 ways to ease what ails you). Well laid out book and great information on normal kitchen supplies.
Blessed with a loving family and a new day of life.

Hugs,
Wanda

Sigghhhh, another rainy day!

Friday, June 15, 2012

I am so looking forward to some sunny days. Having an hour or so through out the day is not enough *grin* The nice thing about the rain though is that I don't have to water my garden, it helps the moisture content of the ground, makes forest fires less likely, keeps everything nice and green looking and generally keeps it nice for sleeping at night. Why am I complaining???

Work started on our veranda yesterday, well the cutting down of the last tree and breaking up the cement steps to the house and preparing the ground anyway. Now that everything is blocked out, it will actually be a nice large deck for the front of the house. About 160 sq feet. We should be able to even put a table with umbrella out there if we choose.

My positives:
Had a pretty good sleep last night.
I have today off work and time to work on more of my "to do" list.
My washing machine finally got fixed ( it really was the water pump) and now I can get the laundry all done. Time to wash the bedding.
I'm amazed at how one little leave from my Stevia plant sweetens up my Kefir smoothie! Kaeli had given me a Stevia plant awhile back and I've been watching it grow like crazy and been unsure about how to use it. Yesterday I plucked a leaf and tossed it into the blender with the smoothie ingredients and was amazed at the results. Very yummy!
Another great book to read through that I intend on getting for myself...Kitchen Cures. How simply things that you have in you kitchen can be used for medicinal purposes. I love when these kinds of books come into the library and I get to read through them first before considering them for my personal library.
Blessed with health, life and love....what more could you ask for.

Have a wonderful Friday,
Hugs,
Wanda

That heavenly water is so much better for your plants, but they are going to need some sun too so they don't get water logged. Things are really dry here. Hmmm where would you buy a stevia plant? I went out to the girls garage sale for a little while this morning, we have our ice cream social here at 2 today and then around 4:30 will meet the kids out to Applebee's. Our son is coming by tomorrow afternoon sometime. Hope you get some sun this weekend.

Hugs,
Shirl
