It's My Friday!

Thursday, June 14, 2012

Yes, I know it's not the official Friday, but it's my Friday today as it's my last work day for the week. I just might make it through the entire work with without having to work from home. They keep postponing the painting at work. Now it's scheduled for this afternoon!

My computer is still not connecting remotely to the server at work. Not sure why. I will take my laptop back in with me this morning and see if there is anything else that we can try. I am wondering if I might need to leave my computer on at work for the connection to work. I will have to ask the techie guys.

Garry picked up the building materials yesterday for the new veranda...it's really happening! Stu, the guy that is helping us, plans on coming over this morning to begin getting things ready for building. We still have one tree to cut down and then to demolish the cement front steps. Should be an interesting time around our place now.

My positives:
It's my Friday. I am so ready for this work week to be done. It just seems like it has been a very very long week.
My front veranda is happening.
I'm keeping positive about my knee issues.
Almost finished my recipe project, should have it done this weekend.
I'm blessed with so much, including a new day of life.
I managed to drink 10 glasses of water yesterday!

Have a wonderful Thursday, keep finding your positives.

Hugs,
Wanda

Good job on getting in all that water. Hope you can figure out how to connect to work from home if you need to work from home, maybe they won't paint till tomorrow and you'll be home anyway. How exciting about the veranda. Hope your evening is relaxing.

Hugs,
Shirl

I know when I work from home that my computer is definitely not on at work, but it may be different for you. It may have to do with your firewall too :( Hope you have a good "Friday" and they postpone the painting until the real Friday, hee hee.

June 13

Wednesday, June 13, 2012

I ended up working at the office all day yesterday as the painters postponed their painting. They may or may not be in today to begin painting. I will head into the office as usual and see how the day goes. I need to take my laptop in again with to work as I can not connect remotely for some reason to the server at work. I am suspecting that there might be something in my fire wall that is preventing me as everything that I know how to check seems ok. Hopefully I will have a techie at work first thing this morning that can help me figure it out. I need my laptop to connect or I won't be able to work from home.

I had an interesting appointment yesterday with my doctor in regards to my knee issue. She now is in agreement with me that it may not be a problem with the knee cap and arthritis but that it may very well be something in the ligaments. In fact she went so far as to say that it might be a torn medial ligament and that I need an MRI to discover what is causing the problem. Yay Progress! Because it has gone on for so long, she is concerned about scar tissue having built up as it attempted to mend itself. Depending on what the MRI finds, there is also a possibility that surgery may be required to repair any damage. That is not what I wanted to hear, but if necessary then I will deal with that as it comes. In the meantime she has recommended that I consider acupuncture to help with the pain and she has prescribed a topical anti-inflammatory that I can rub on the area to help reduce the swelling. God Bless my doctor who really understands that my body has issues with medicines that are taken internally.

My positives:

I feel like there has been some positive forward motion with finding out what is the problem with my knee.
A doctor that listens and is willing to work towards finding answers.
The added surprise yesterday when I went to pick up my prescription for the cream...I didn't have to pay anything! Because we have two plans...Garry's work plan and my work plan the total cost was covered. It tells you how often I fill prescriptions...I had no idea about that!
Blessed with a spot of sunshine yesterday between all the rain.
Blessed with good health, a new day and the opportunity to be the best I can be.

Have a wonderful Wednesday.
Hugs,
Wanda

Even if surgery is required you will at least know what is going on and can get it fixed. I think the most depressing and frustrating part of anything is the not knowing the cause. Hope you get your computer working from home quickly. My hubby can't connect to his work from home because it is a LAN and only available from work for security reasons. Most frustrating for him at times.

Hope you find out what is wrong with your knee soon before it gets more damage. Hope you get your laptop fixed and have a great day!

The sun can shine anytime now!

Tuesday, June 12, 2012

We saw a bit of sunshine in the afternoon yesterday and that appears to be the only bit that we are supposed to see right through until next Tuesday! My garden is becoming water logged already! On the plus side...the forecasters haven't been right yet with the weather, so no sense thinking they will be right all this week *grin*. Apparently according to environment Canada, we are supposed to be having the driest and hottest summer ever this year! I'm still waiting on that one *grin*.

My boss phoned me just as I got home from work yesterday to let me know that the painters are supposed to start painting the newly built office in our department today. She didn't know what time they would be starting, but wanted to let me know that I could be prepared to work from home for a couple of days. I will go in this morning and then leave when they start painting. Doubt that they will start before 9 am, so that gives me almost half my day in the office before I would have to pack up for home. Depending on the paint smell, I might just stay home on Wednesday and work from home too. I need to take my laptop to work with me this morning so that our Techie can get everything set up for me. It will be a much slower process of working as I won't have my two monitors and my vendors connections, but at least I can still input my orders.

My positives:
I work for an employer that understands my chemical sensitivities and is willing to work around those things.
I get to see the doctor this afternoon about my knee. Just praying that she will be responsive to referring me to a specialist.
No wind, therefore all the dandelion fluffy in our backyard is staying in our backyard as opposed to blowing into our neighbors!!
Looking forward to our permits being ready so we can start construction on the new veranda.
Blessed with life.

Have a great and wonderful day. Each day is a new day to be the best you can be.

Hugs,
Wanda

Glad you have the option to work from home and that you have an understanding boss. We only got a very slight sprinkle last night, not even enough to make anything look wet. Hope you soon see some sun so your garden can dry out a little.

Hugs,
Shirl

Sounds like a plan and better than getting sick from the fumes. Hope you see the sun soon. We are getting a lot of sun here :)

A great "me" weekend.

Monday, June 11, 2012

I had a great "me" weekend. Made some great progress on my recipe project and started another project that actually has a time-line on it. Our teen group at the library needs some knitted strips done and staff was asked if anyone could help out. I have lots of bits and pieces that I can now have a use for, so knitting strips has begun. Saturday, Shy and I headed to the city to have some "us" time and then the rest of the weekend was spent reading, doing laundry and just not having to cook!

Garry will be home today, which will be nice. He and his brother are leaving from Red Deer this morning, right about this time. Brian will drop him off to pick up our truck from my work and he will head straight to work and Brian will head straight to where he is working this week.

My positives:
Skies are cloudy this morning, but the birds are beginning to chirp, so hopefully that is an indication that we might have some sunny breaks.
Garry will be home today.
I have a busy day ahead of me at work.
I am blessed with a new day of life, another opportunity to be the best that I can be.
So many blessings in my life, I am truly grateful for all of them.

Have a wonderful day, be excited about yourself and the changes you are making.

Hugs,
Wanda

Wanda, sounds like a weekend of accomplishments! I was pretty happy that I actually made time to pay bills...and then just relaxed with the girls, watching two movies.

Happy Monday! Hugs.

Thunder and rain...

Sunday, June 10, 2012

Last night lived up to the weather prediction of thunder storms! Some sheet lightening, not a lot, but we sure got lots of thunder and rain, which was odd when there didn't seem to be much lightening visible. Some real boomers though. The cat was not happy with all of it. I had to go and open the basement door so she could hide downstairs.

Still very overcast this morning and it looks like the rain might not be done. We had a bit of hail mixed in with the rain that fell late in the afternoon yesterday, but not enough to do any damage to the garden.

Shy and I headed into the city in the morning and by the time we got home I had put on over 6000 of my daily quota steps. I was able to pick up the rest of my curtain rods and then we hit IKEA, where I got a super deal on the small spice jars with screw on lids. Regular 9.99 on sale for 3.99. Yay. Shyra picked up some great bargains on 4 tops at Smart Set. One of the tops was on sale for 10.00 with another 25% off that! Great bargain hunting day.

My last load of hand done laundry is in the dryer now. My fingers are sore from all the wringing out of clothes...but at least there are some clean clothes once again. Sure hope the part for my washer comes in this week.

My positives:

Getting my laundry done.
Shopping with Shy yesterday and the bargains we found.
Won't have to water the garden today.
Text message from Garry, he will be heading back to Red Deer today with his brother and then come home tomorrow morning in time for his work.
Blessed with a new day of life.

Have a great and wonderful day. Honor yourself with healthy eating.

Hugs,
Wanda

It's headed for the 90's here, may have a chance of rain tomorrow, we could use some more. Love it when you go shopping and find good deals. I went to Goodwill today and found two nice sleeveless tops. We enjoyed having A.J. here this weekend. The movie War Horse is good. Have a good evening.

Shirl
