Summer camp

Tuesday, June 17, 2008

Summer camp has started at GonnaBFit university, if you are looking for some great activity for the summer come on over and join the fun. Beehive cabin still has some room.

Wasn't sure I was going to be able to get on the computer tonight, we had severe thunderstorms going on all around us with winds up to 120 km an hour. They have since passed by and for that I am happy! Wasn't sure if my plants were still going to be residing on my deck come morning.

A much better day at work today, our department got together and had a basket done up with fruit, coffee, juice and items for the babies that would help out in the interm. We'll delivery it tomorrow to our co-worker along with some cards from all the other departments.

My positives for the day...
Despite very little sleep last night due to some partying going on in the school yard behind us at 1 am this morning, I made it through a busy day at work and am still in an upright position catching up all of your busy days!
Sun shine for most of the afternoon, temperature reached a balmy 25 degrees Celcius today...almost summer!
Even with the evening severe thunderstorms going on, we didn't get the hail that others around us got, we got the rain and winds, but my lawn furniture and plants are still here!
I've completed my challenges for today, some self imposed and some through GonnaBFit University summer camp.
Friends who care...that's my big one. Thank you to all of you who stopped by and left me such encouragement.
Spoke with my sister in law.

Time to go and see who's been up to what today and see if any of you found the time to connect someone you've been putting off talking to.

Walking Wednesday tomorrow...Marla...in your case Wiggle Wednesday...you can sit in a chair and wiggle away to your heart's content...just think of those calories you'll burn...just from laughing!

Hugs,
Wanda

Ohhhh... I'm late reading your blog... I got to tired last night and shut down early...
I'm glad that those storms didn't take you or your plants away to the land of OZ. You sure did have a busy day... What a nice idea to put together a care basket. I'm sure they will appreciate it.

Enjoy your walk today for walking wednesday... I'll walk with you but in the pool... And it looks like Marla will be riding her bike along side of us... Marla, don't get to close... lol

Have a wonderful day Wanda...

You certainly have a lot going on!! But I think that's a good thing. I notice the busier I am, the happier I am, not a lot of time to sit in my own head!
The basket for your co-worker sounds very nice and I'm sure will be greatly appreciated. That was very thoughtful of you all. It doesn't take a lot to show you care and it sure makes you fell better.
You're weather is really crazy there!! I'm so glad you've managed to escape the worst of it each time!! You worry me at times. Although I would have loved some of the cold here yesterday!! But the AC is working beautifully now, so that's over.
You have a great day today. Hugs.

Wanda - Another busy day for you it sounds like. Glad you didn't get the damaging hail.

I did connect with someone I've been putting off..... actually Kevin & I both did. Our BIL from NC..... he's offered us a way to make it to Raleigh that won't cost us a cent. (Kevin's pride almost got in the way... but I had a long talk with him!) Our BIL & Kevin's sister have a bunch of travel points on their Visa.... they've offered to get us the car rental & a gas card at no charge to us.... the only stipulation is we'd have to pick the rental up at the Pittsburgh Airport... which is 45 min. away. That is doable & an answer to our prayers. God is Good! Isn't He Wonderful?

I'm afraid the Summer camp at GonnaBFit Univ. would be too much for me to try at this time.... but I've started my exercise bike...did 15 min. today watching Dr. Phil! It's a start.

Hope your day goes great today at work! Take care & have some fun. Keep those positives coming. You inspire me so much.

Glad your day was better. Very thoughtful to make the basket for the family. I guess your computer got fixed or is at least working better.

You are not the only one who doesn't care for monopoly. It's not counting the money that is my problem but it just seems to take forever. I like most games and I too like trivial pursuit. We watch a lot of game shows the ones where you can answer questions.

Have a good night.

Are you motivated?

Monday, June 16, 2008

Another new week, another new day, another new opportunity to be motivated.
How do you motivate yourself and what motivates you?

It was one of those days that you really just wanted to crawl back into bed, go back to sleep and wake up and pretend the day had just started. That all that occurred hadn't occurred and it was just a bad dream.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not whinning. I just wish that what has taken place did not have to occur.
Today one of my co-workers was dealt a blow with the death of her son in law. He was on his motorcycle on his way to work, ran through a stop sign at a major intersection and was pronounced dead at scene. He was just married in January and leaves behind a very young wife and two wee babies. My heart is heavy for their loss and pain. They will get through this, their faith is strong, but the wound is very raw right now. Then , one of our board members, who himself, had just been released home from hospital after his vehicle was broadsided by a car that was street racing about 6 weeks ago, suffered a stroke and is now back in ICU. Another co-worker while out yesterday on horseback helping to search for an elderly neighbour with alzheimers who had wandered away from his home was injured. While leading her horse across a creek, her horse spooked and jumped on her. She is waiting for the results as to whether or not her leg is broken. She is supposed to be leaving of Friday to go down east as her daughter is getting married.

So back to my opening statement/question...what motivates you?
Well my motivation today has been more the need to center myself and let go of all the negative energy that surrounded me today. To renew my spirit and not allow myself to be sucked under with all the tragedy that occurred today. So how did I do that?
Well, as each occurence was relayed to us at work...I took a few minutes to mentally ask God's presence to be with us and those affected. I surrounded myself with the Holy Spirit and asked that I not become a sponge to the news and that the negative energy would be reflected back on itself. I mentally attempted to keep my focus on God as opposed to the events. The events I could not change, but I could and was for the most part successfully in changing how they affected me.
Then once I was done work, I knew that the quickest way to feel re-charged was to go for a walk and release any lingering tension and stress.
I walked for an hour all the while mentally seeking God. Yes the sorrow is still there for the families, but the negativeness is gone.
To me be motivated isn't just about exercising, it's about being motivated to make and keep healthy the whole body. It's about changing the things that are within your control to change and letting go of the things that you can't control.
Now, I'm just tired and heading off to bed. Tomorrow is a new day...Talking Tuesday...so take the time and talk to those you may have been putting off talking to. You never know if you will have the opportunity later.

Hugs,
Wanda

Wanda, You are handling everything the way that it is meant to be taken.. We have no control over the things that are taking place in our lives.. It's just so overwhelming.. You have the right attitude.. A prayer & silently meditating for some comfort to the families.. Time is what everyone needs right now.. time does find it's way to heal things that we have taking over in our lives.. Time is one of the most precious gifts that we have.. The hurt & pain will still be there
but after awhile we are able to set it aside & the grieving becomes less to have to tolerate..So many changes occur daily.. Some Happy as well.. I try to look to the brighter side ,most of the time & focus on this.. In time God will heal all of the pains & sorrows.. He will show us through it.. Love & Hugs Always Polly

(((((((Wanda))))))) Let go & Let God. I'm so glad your faith & prayers pulled you through this & helped reflect that negative energy away from you. Life sure is tough sometimes. So sad the news you shared today. My heart goes out to those people & my prayers are with them all. There is a reason for everything & even though we don't understand the why's & if's of things, we must believe The Lord has a plan for each & every one of us.

You are such an example of true faith to all of us. God is using you to reach others. You've surely reached me. I thank you & I thank God for you. Keep spreading your faith, motivation, & your strength around Wanda. We need you. Your co-workers surely need you at this time.

wandah, so much tradgedy happens around us and in the world. Good for you for letting it all go and giving it back to God. I think you feel the sadness and heaviness of the pain of others because you are a very sensitive and compassionate person. Compassion is a beauiful thing, but sometimes the pain of the world hurts us too, and you did the right thing by giving it all back to God. I would like to believe that when we share the grief of others it takes a bit of the pain away from them, so I believe that you took a bit of pain away from these people and by giving it back to God you facilitated the healing. It's hard to get motivated when there is pain around us but you have shown that it's possible to release it and let it go and still be motivated . Thank you for being you.

Wanda, I'm so sorry to hear about so much tragedy in one day. Tragedy at any time is awful of course, but this was a little much to handle. I'm glad that you have your faith and strength to get you through. And as you said, tomorrow is another day and hopefully a better day. I hope you're able tomorrow to keep your faith wrapped around you and let it comfort and guide you through this. Take care.
Hugs.

  Wanda

Such sad news. My prayers are with those suffering at this time. I love the way you ask for the Holy Spirit to surround you. Since you had shared that with us I too now ask the for the Holy Spirit to wrap himself around us and keep us close. No matter what happens good or bad we know he is with us. You are right motivation comes in all aspects of our lives. Days like the one you had are so draining. Sleep well.

Fabulous Friday!

Friday, June 13, 2008

I love fabulous Fridays...they really make you stop and think about how blessed you are.
(Besides...it's Friday...what more can this working girl say!)

Friday the 13th today...now if I was superstitious, I just might be thinking that it's not the best day....but instead, I look at the blessings.
Woke up this morning with a major headache...as much as I hate taking medicine...I knew I had a very busy day ahead of me at work, so I took and Advil...Yea! the pill worked quickly and I wasn't sick from it or dragged out.
As I was walking into work and passing behind the only vehicle I had to pass to get in the door, the person in the vehicle started it and immediately backed up without looking...God's hand was on me and got me out of the way before the vehicle hit me. Sure scared me, but also a great reminder of why I surround myself with the white light of the Holy Spirit each and every morning before heading out my door.
I needed to print out my routing sheets first thing this morning, the printer had been relocated and during the relocation, it hadn't been tested....I couldn't print! The blessing...these just happened to be non-vital routing slips so they could wait until our Techie came in at 9 am.
I had a 10 am Safety meeting...I got busy and when I looked up it was 10:15 and the person I was to meet with was just walking into our department looking for me....she had gotten busy also and was worried she had held me up!
As it is now 3:30 pm, I'm done my work day, I've logged onto the computer....which let me without a problem...I've been recharged with reading all the great blogs and postings...I just know the rest of the day will be just fine too.
Who says my life is boring???LOL.

Wishing all the Fathers out there a wonderful and blessed Fathers Day.
And to all the great women behind those Dads, have a wonderful weekend. (wives, mothers, sisters, daughters etc.)
Count your blessings.

Glad you were ok! I forgot that it was friday the 13th. I heard that the origin of Friday the 13th started in medival times when women would get together to celebate life and nature. on this day. The patriarchial church called them witches and made it to something negative. So I want to think of it as a day to celebrate connections to other women, not a day of bad luck!

Wish your hubby a Happy Father's Day for me and I know you have something extra nice planned for him.
Have go wonderful evening and continue on enjoying your "Fabulous Friday!!" LOL Hugs.

It's wonderful to know God has his spirit wrapped around us. He has had his hand on you with the weather and then the car almost running over you. There usually are positives even in the negatives we experience and you did an excellent job.

Yeah for Fridays!!!!!

Have a good evening.

Wow Wanda... I'm glad you're alright. That is scary having a car almost back into you. You could've been run over. God sure is watching out for you. I've had a headache too today. I blamed it on the heat. Glad you got over yours. Wanted to thank you again for the lovely card. Such a kind, caring Lady you are.

Thirsty Thursday!

Thursday, June 12, 2008

Well it's thirsty Thursday already! Don't forget to drink that water.

Our weather is a real mixed bag right not, raining, sunshine,
"gusty" winds, hail, you name it! It turn out to be a lovely sunny afternoon. Very gusty though, but still managed to get a 40 minute walk in right after work. Felt good to get outside and walk after being indoors all day working.

Very busy at work, but I like it that way...the day just zips by. Not much for news on my end. A great day, nothing other than work going on, but still a great day.

My positives

Sun came out!
Got to go for a walk right after work.
Went for groceries after Shy was off work.
Kaeli made supper....a different supper as we were all craving egg salad. She made a great low calorie egg salad and I used Weight Watchers 100% whole wheat bread(no butter) and had a garden salad to go with it. Well with in my calorie range.
Being able to log on to the internet...we have been having problems lately.
My face is finally healing. I no longer look like I have been mauled by a tiger! It's itchy though, so have to remember not to scratch!

Hope you all have a great evening.

The weather has been a concern all over. So glad you were safe the other night. I like the wind but my hair always looks a little disheveled. LOL Staying busy at work always makes time fly.

Keep drinking that water but you get a lot more down than I've been able to manage.

Wanda - Thirsty Thursday is RIGHT! I can't get enough to drink today which is not a good thing in my situation. Plus I ate watermelon. I feel like Sponge Bob Square Pants! All water logged. Not gonna be good for my weigh in tomorrow.

MMMMM.... Egg salad... I haven't had that for years. Sounds good! Save some for me!

Busy at work is a good thing... And I can relate to not much going on ...That's why my blog is about my babies tonight... lol

Your egg salad sounds good... I think I need to have an egg... Maybe tomorrow... I was thinking that this morning but decided on blueberry pancakes... yum... Andy's favorite...

Have a great evening...

I'm glad you didn't make that trip to Oz Wanda!! lol I know you're much happier at home! Our weather has been a bit crazy too. It was in the hundreds all last week and at the beginning of this one, but yesterday it started cooling down a bit. Today I believe was 89 or something like that, which was nice with no humidity.
I'm glad your face is getting better also. Maybe you better tape some oven mits to your hands so you won't scratch!! LOL.
Well, have a wonderful evening and enjoy your family. Hugs.

Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts.
We are still in the land of Alberta, the weather system that was threatening has disapated somewhat and looks like we are in for only rain today!
I'll touch base later today, I'm out the door for work now.
