Heigh ho, heigh ho, it's gardening time you know!

Sunday, May 20, 2012

Yesterday was not a very warm day at all, we barely made it up to plus 8 with overcast skies. Today is supposed to be nicer. I did get out in the garden though and got the rest of my potato seedling's planted. Today will be spent, hopefully, in planting the rest of my garden. I have more carrots and onions to plant. I have radishes, squash, dill, tomatoes and kale to plant today also.
I need to reseed some of my flowers and oh yea...I still have my peanuts to plant!

Should be a good day. Yesterday we did spend some time, Or rather Garry spent some time, cutting down and making a start on digging out the spreading juniper bush in the front of the house that I absolutely disliked. It was all dead in the center and was taking over the entire garden bed area. I'm not fond of juniper bushes anyway as they are prickly and smell gross. Once we get that bed all cleaned out we can decide if we are going to add a deck on the front of plant something nicer. The yard work here is never done, we also manage to find more things to do!

My positives:
The girls are coming over today to help with the garden and to spend some family time.
The garden will be complete by the end of this weekend.
The Juniper bush is gone! YAY!
Although I didn't get all my steps in yesterday, I was not being idle. Prepping the garden beds may not require a lot of stepping, but the arm work out is great.
Blessed with another day of life and untold opportunities waiting for me to embrace.
I had a good nights sleep last night, woke up this morning feeling rested.
Blessed with so much and grateful for it all.

Have a wonderful Sunday, give thanks for all that you have and for all that you don't have.

Long weekend and sunshine.

Yesterday we had on and off showers, today looks like it is gearing up for a lovely sunny day.

I managed to get some more of my onions transplanted as well as some of my carrot seeds. Today I will work on getting the rest of my garden in seed.

Shy and I headed out for a good part of the day to West Edmonton Mall. We did lots of window shopping, walking and a bit of buying for both of us *grin*. We had a nice salad for lunch at the Old Spagehetti Factory and then back home. Garry called later and suggested that we all go out for dinner to Chilies. The girls were on board with that suggestion, so off we went back to the city for an evening dinner. Unfortunately, the meal did not live up to our expectations, the service was great though and they did take the cost of my meal off the bill seeing as it was not cooked properly and reheating it wasn't an option. I think it will be awhile before we go back there to eat. Shyra's meal was not as good as she had had in the past either. She just had an appetizer for her meal (spinach and artichoke dip). But despite the not so great food, we had a great time as usual together. We headed back to our house for more visiting before Garry drove the girls home.

My positives:
Girl Time with Shyra and then later some great Family Time.
Getting some more of my seedlings into the garden and then a nice rain to give them a drink.
Sunshine today and hopefully the rest of the garden will be planted.
A nice long weekend to get things done around the yard.
Blessed with another day of life and unknown opportunities to be the best that I can be.

Have a wonderful Saturday. Smile, laugh and be happy.

Yay, it a long week!

It the May long weekend here in Canada and Shyra and I both were able to get today off work also, making it a 4 day weekend. Woo Hoo.

We are going to head out to West Edmonton mall later this morning for a girls day and lots of walking. She is most likely going for the shoppng, but I'm going for the exercise *grin*
It's a great day for it as it's raining making doing any walking outdoors not so nice.

Tomorrow is supposed to be back to being sunny, so out in the garden I will go. I need to get the rest of my seedling transplanted and reseed the flowers seeds that Sage dug up. The soil should be nice to work in as we have had gentle rain for the past couple of days on and off.

My positives:
A nice 4 day weekend.
A day to spend with my youngest.
Opportunity to get lots of steps in while enjoying some window shopping.
I get to keep my knee moving.
Blessed with another day of life.
Blessed with friends, family and lots of love.

Have a great and wonderful day.

Ahhhh rain!

Thursday, May 17, 2012

Nothing like the sound of a gentle rain to lull a person to sleep. It cooled things off nicely for a good sleep. Although my FitBit tells me that I woke up 9 times during the night, I at least feel like I had a sleep last night. Sure beats the 20 times that I woke up a couple of nights ago during the night.

We are supposed to get some rain on and off for the next couple of days. That is actually a good thing. As much as I love sunshine, we need this rain. The ground is very dry. I hope to get the rest of my garden planted this weekend and some of my flowers seeds replanted after a certain puppy decided that digging where I had just planted some seeds was great fun!

My positives:
I'm keeping on track and outside of Mothers Day last Sunday, I have been meeting my goal for steps each day.
I'm making head way with the work load on my desk at work.
My Hayes Job Classification is complete (finally). It goes to the Hayes board this week and over the next couple of weeks they will go through them and decide if there are any clarifications or changes that need to be made. This is a long process and we have been told that it could take up to a year for everything to be complete. At steps 1 and 2 on my part are done.
I have a huge armload of books to read. Why is it that all my holds at the library arrive at the same time *grin*.
Blessed with love, life and laughter in my life.

Have a great and wonderful day. Take the time to appreciate all the little things in life.

I haven't worn my Fitbit to sleep for a couple of nights as I forgot it in the RV. Will do it again this weekend. Even though I don't have the charger with me, when I come home it inputs all my stats from when I am gone :) Have a wonderful day!

Plugging along

Wednesday, May 16, 2012

I need to do something to shake things up a bit. I'm eating within my range, getting my water intake back up there and walking lots, but I don't feel like things are moving along like they should. As much as I don't enjoy strength training, I'm thinking that is what I am going to have to incorporate more of into my routine. Muscle burns calories...sooooo.

It was a warm day yesterday and a warm night for attempting to sleep. It was a no covers night last night! The skies are very dark looking this morning though. Rain storms are building. We can sure use the rain, just hope there is no lightening along with it. We have enough fires burning in the provinces as it is.

My positives:
Only two more work days this week and then a nice long weekend. Shyra was able to get Friday off also, so we are hanging out together...yay!
My reduced work schedule begins technically next week for the summer months, but in reality it actually starts this week. I finally get to use up some of my overtime hours.
Blessed with a new day to embrace.
Blessed with friends, family and unconditional love from Quin's dog. She is such a delight.

Have a wonderful day, remember that you are the one making the choices.

Hope you get the rain and it's lighting free. We had showers during the night but have lovely sun today, but it's going to be cooler today. Will be making different breads today and probably cookies or bar type things tomorrow. Have a good day.

Yep, your body gets use to doing the same thing and if you only walk, you will definitely have to shake things up :) I walked 7 miles yesterday, WOOHOO. First time for that one, hee hee. I wish now I would have counted steps though like you because I would have been further along. I've lost some mileage by rounding things up, hee hee. Have a great day!
