Hoping for a sunny day!

Friday, May 04, 2012

It was mostly an overcast yesterday with spots of rain, a good rain shower during the night and looking pretty overcast yet this morning. I might not be getting my outdoor walking in today, siggghhh.

I did get an abbreviated walk in yesterday before it started to rain. It was very cold with the wind though. Garry and I spent the day at several different hardware stores pricing out what it is going to cost to replace a section of our fencing and for paint. I ended up with a great day of steps even without doing my usual walk. It's amazing how your steps add up when you are wandering around in stores.

Today is our 38th Anniversary. No big plans, other than spending the day together and just relaxing. If the weather clears up, we might BBQ for dinner and the girls will come over. Quin is working out of town yet, so won't see him.

We picked up some copies of Outdoor Canada magazine yesterday as there is an article and picture of our son in it. Rather exciting to see and nice keepsake. It's a picture with Quin with one of his clients from last year and the fish the client caught. Quin is chopping at the bit to get back up north again. He leaves at the end of this month for his fishing season. He has another busy season booked. The girls, Garry and I are going up for a few days in August to spend some family time. Garry and I will get to show the girls and Quin where we used to live when we were growing up.

Off to enjoy my day with my hubby. Have a wonderful and blessed day.

May 3rd and going strong.

Thursday, May 03, 2012

The day is overcast, so won't stay on the computer long today. I want to get outdoors and get my walk in this morning before the rain comes.

I had a nice long walk again yesterday. Ended the day with a total of 13,068 steps, Yay!

Garry worked like crazy to clear his desk and appointments yesterday so that he could enjoy today and tomorrow with me on holiday time. Tomorrow is our anniversary, so we are thinking we might take the day and just head out on a day trip somewhere. No big decisions as yet.

I'm reading another very interesting book by Peggy Layton : Emergency Food Storage & Survival Handbook. I figured it would be a good book to read so that I know what I should have on hand in the event of an emergency of 72 hours or longer. Because we live in an area that has the potential for a disaster (industrial and tornadoes), I thought being prepared would be a great idea.

My positives:
Having a great week off work.
Using my time wisely to get some extra walking in while on holidays.
Staying on track with my nutrition.
Slowly I have been increasing my water intake. Almost back up to what I normally would drink in a day. Not sure why it dropped off the way it did.
Going to enjoy the next two days of having Garry join me in holiday time.
My plants are doing well outdoors, I just have to keep an eye on the night time temperatures, so far they haven't dropped so low that the plants need to be brought in.
Blessed with a new day.

Have a great and wonderful day,

Oh Wanda, we are in the 80's this afternoon and humid, could do without that humidity, it doesn't agree with me. My internet might be down for a bit, so if you don't see me around that's why. Happy Anniversary to you and Garry, 38 yrs. is quite an accomplishment. Enjoy the last few days of your time off. WTG with those steps!

Walking, walking, walking

Wednesday, May 02, 2012

My goal while I am off work this week has been to walk outdoors everyday. So far, so good. I'm having some issues with my knee but as long as I keep it moving it seems to work fine. It's when I rest it and keep it stationary that I have the problems. The first few steps are difficult and a bit painful. I've finally broke down and made an appointment to see the doctor. The earliest that I can get in is on Monday, my first day back to work. I have no option though, but to take it. Just hope that my boss is okay with it as it is at 9:15 in the morning.

Got some great steps in yesterday. I will be heading out shortly for a walk this morning too (before the rain clouds start dumping).

My positives:
Garry took me out for lunch yesterday.
Shyra picked up all my holds at the library and dropped them off for me after she was done work. Yay...books to read!
Ended up with no rain yesterday, so a great day to be outdoors.
Love how things are turning green and the trees are all starting to send out buds.
Fresh fruit to make my kefir milk smoothies.
Being alive, healthy and able to whip this body into a healthier weight.
Blessed with so much.

Have a wonderful Wednesday,

Walking is so good for us. Margaret and I ended up walking inside this morning, the weather was to iffy and that air was still damp, it has warmed up nicely though. Pearl and I will be going to the gym at 2 today, so will definitely be getting in my exercise for the day. I think we may hit 70 today and we may get storms later today. Enjoy the rest of your day and evening.

May 1...bring on the flowers!

Tuesday, May 01, 2012

May 1 already. Today is also the birthday of the triplets in our family. Steven, Stephanie and Suzette turn 40. Time has sure flown by. Three more days and it's Garry's and my anniversary, 38 years and counting.
May is a month filled with celebrations in our family. Next month even more!

Yesterday was an undecided day weather wise. We had a little bit of everything, except for the snow thank goodness. I was able to get outside and do some garden prepping. I did plant my hollyhock seeds right into the garden. The package said it was safe to plant the seeds as soon as the ground could be worked. I've planted them against the house, so here's hoping the package is right. I think they will look beautiful growing up against the blank bit of wall. Add some lovely color. I did forget to bring in a tray of my seedlings last evening, so hoping that they will survive. Silly me!

I got a lovely long walk in the morning and hope to do that again today. I'm having a bit of trouble with my right knee again. It seems like I have some fluid build up just under the knee cap. Only bothers me though if I move my knee in a sideways motion or bump it. Otherwise I can walk fine. I can't kneel on it either. Broke down and made an appointment to see the doctor about it as this is the second time in the last 6 months it's done this. I get to go next Monday morning. I'll have to take time off work, on my first day back no less!

My positives:
Being able to be outside.
Tried growing some of my kefir grains in coconut milk and it turned out wonderful. I think I will continue to do both regular milk and coconut. I have to grown some more grains as I passed the ones that I grew in coconut milk along to Kaeli. She liked the taste of them much better. If she likes the taste, that means she will drink the kefir milk *grin*
Garry doesn't need the truck at work today, so I will be able to do some errands later this afternoon.
Blessed with a new day of life and all the opportunities it will bring.

Have a great day, choose to enjoy being alive.

Hollyhocks are a wonderful old fashion flower, we had them when I was a kid and we also had them when we lived in our last house, when I was a kid use to make dolls out of them. Hope your knee gets to doing better. My blog has pictures of the baby on it today, I just loved holding her, she's a good baby. Have a good evening.

Last day of April

Monday, April 30, 2012

April has been a good month of sticking to my goals. I have had the odd day where I didn't make my self assigned quota of steps, but then I've also had days where I surpassed my self assigned quota of steps. All in all a great month of walking.

It looks like it will be a nice sunny day today, although we are expect brief showers through out the day. I hope to get in a walk between those shower times. Yesterday was spent doing some gardening things and will try to get those items finished up today. I need to get some added seeds started in pots. I would love to actually get somethings into the garden already, but Mother Nature has a way of surprising us with snow, so will try to hold off until the May long weekend, which is usually the weekend that we can begin planting gardens around here.
I started some "Sweetie" tomato seeds yesterday and today want to get my squash seeds started.
Kaeli and I took some time yesterday and headed to the greenhouse and wandered around admiring all the lovely plants. I bought a nice big pot of assorted lettuces. Now I don't have to worry about planting my own. I've never been overly successful at growing my own from seed. Bought some marigolds to plant among my veggies, as they ward off certain insects. Got a couple new varieties of potatoes . Plan on planting them today in pots. Yep gardening time is here.

My positives:
I'm on holidays.
Got two of my floors washed yesterday and will get to the kitchen and LR and DR today.
Doing some gardening, always makes me happy.
My milk kefir grains are doing great. I started a batch in coconut milk yesterday and looking forward to seeing how they do. Making smoothies with the kefir milk is a great breakfast!
I'm ready to start looking for some water kefir grains.
Time for baking bread today.
I love being at home and doing things around my home. Not sure that Garry loves me being at home as I have too much time to come up with new projects *grin*
Blessed with a new day of life.

Have a great and wonderful day.

Hope you get some sun today, it's almost 2:30 here and it frowned up and started raining again, I am waiting for a break and will walk on over to the gym. Pearl and I went this morning, but I only did my strength training will go back for the cardio this afternoon. We had to run some things out to DD's work for their up coming 3 day sale and then did some grocery shopping. Have you ever had an Ugli fruit? I bought one last week, it's different, sort of has a grapefruit, lemon citrusy taste, it's not something I'd buy very often, but at least I tried something new. Have fun with your gardening and bread baking.
