What a beautiful day of sunshine we had yesterday and more is in store for today. We reached a high of 20 degrees! It was fabulous.

I had rather a wasted trip to see my doctor yesterday. She looked at my knee, listened to me and then said she "thought" it was just arthritis and that I would just have to learn to live with it. The sharp pain that I get when I kneel on it or put pressure on it, is probably a bone spur and it will eventually calcify and attach itself to something. Okay...then. The swelling is just fluid and probably caused by irritation from the bone spur. Take pain killers if it gets too bad. On the plus side...all the walking that I'm doing is good for it, helping to keep is limber.

This is a busy week at work. Catching up from being off for a week and today I have a workshop that is mandatory to attend as well as one on Thursday. Yesterday's birthday celebrations for Geff were great. We also found out that two other co-workers have the same birthday. How unusual is that! 3 people in the same work place.

My positives:
I am not doing my knee any harm by all the walking that I'm doing.
It was a struggle, but I kept up the level of my steps yesterday to holiday level.
I met yesterday's goal challenge of getting all my stairs in.
Quin and his puppy will be home on Wednesday night. They will be here a couple of weeks before heading off up north.
Blessed with a new day to be all that I've been created to be.

Have a great and wonderful day,

Hope your knee straightens up. We are having a mixed week of weather, some sun and some rain. Waiting for the one load of laundry to get dry. You are doing real good with your steps. Have a terrific Tuesday.

It's still dark this morning!

Monday, May 07, 2012

Arrggg! I thought for sure it would be light in the sky when I got up for work this morning, but alas another few days before that happens I guess. It's still dark out there, but I can see a glimmer of dawn approaching.
It will most likely be light by the time I actually head out the door in about 30 minutes.

Well holiday time is over for awhile. It has bee a great week off work. I will have an extra day on the May long weekend and then in June I will start my reduced work schedule for the summer months. I'm really looking forward to that.

I see the doctor this morning about my knee and hope to get some answers.

The girls came over yesterday afternoon to enjoy the sunshine on the back deck and a bbq. It was great to sit back and enjoy company. Unfortunately, I was no careful enough and have a slight case of sunburn on my nose and legs. I really need to pay more attention to the sun and the fact that sunscreen is invented for a reason!

My Positives:
A gorgeous last day of holidays.
A visit with the girls. Kyle even stopped by and joined us for bbq.
Seeing the doctor this morning about my knee, and as Murphy's Law once again proves itself, it is not bothering me much at all this morning!
Looking forward to seeing my co-workers and catching up on all the office news.
Co-worker Geff's 65th birthday today, I will be there to help celebrate.
Blessed with a new day of life and a heart filled with gratefulness.

Have a great day,

Holiday time is almost at an end.

It's been a great week off work, now it's time to gear up for going back to work. Up early this morning in hopes that it will be easier to head to bed earlier tonight. 4:30 am will come too soon tomorrow. On the plus side...it is no longer dark out when I have to get up.

It has been a great week of getting in steps. It is so much easier to get my exercise in and eat healthier when I don't have be at work. I love to get as much of my exercising done first thing in the morning when I have lots of energy. My long morning walks will have to done in shorter amounts and most likely topped up after my work day is over. It can be done though, because I choose to make it happen.

It looks like it's finally going to be a lovely sunny day again. I'm looking forward to time outdoors. Possibly even working in the garden.

My positives:

I've had a great week off work.
Promise of a sunny day today.
Met and surpassed my daily goal in steps 6 out of 7 days this week.
Blessed with a new day of life.
There are so many daily blessings that occur in my life that I'm sometimes overwhelmed at how blessed my life really is.

Have a wonderful day. Don't forget to say "thank you" for all the blessings in your life.

Sounds like you had a great time off. It is so nice to experience life without the daily grind but it is so hard to go back to work after time off. I'm thankful to have a job and really thankful for the time I can be away from it. Have a great last day of vacation. Way to go on your exercise goals.

Garry and I had a wonderful day together yesterday celebrating 38 years of marriage. We didn't do anything super exciting by most peoples standards just hung out together. It was great.

The girls took us out of dinner to one of our favorite family places ...Boston Pizza. I had my Baja salad (meatless), which I haven't had for awhile. It was so good. I decided at the beginning of the day that I wasn't going to worry about tracking things, other than wearing my Fitbit. At the end of the day, I didn't do too badly. Over my calories slightly, but I figure seeing as I made over 10,000 steps in the day, I still did okay.

We had a phone call from our son in the morning, which was very nice and lots of well wishes from friends and family. So many blessings.

It's back to work on Monday for me and then next month I begin my reduced work schedule for June, July and August. It's an attempt to use up all my overtime hours and holiday time that I still have. I will work a 4 day week and have a 3 day weekend, Woo hoo! I'm looking forward to having the extra time off to do my gardening and other projects we are already planning out. We want to replace a section of fencing, paint all the fencing, clean up the messy bush area at the front of the house, replant, new front door and the list goes on *grin*.

My positives:

38 years of marriage to a great guy!
Doing great with my walking.
Made a start on getting the cold storage room organized.
I've had time for doing some reading.
Enjoyed some sunshine between the rain episodes yesterday, weather looks much the same today.
Time with the girls and a great evening.
Enjoying the tranquility of my new water fountain.
Blessed with a new day to appreciate, learn and grow in.
Friends and family.

Have a great Silly Saturday...make sure that you spend more time laughing than frowning...you spirit will thank you.

Hoping for a sunny day!

Friday, May 04, 2012

It was mostly an overcast yesterday with spots of rain, a good rain shower during the night and looking pretty overcast yet this morning. I might not be getting my outdoor walking in today, siggghhh.

I did get an abbreviated walk in yesterday before it started to rain. It was very cold with the wind though. Garry and I spent the day at several different hardware stores pricing out what it is going to cost to replace a section of our fencing and for paint. I ended up with a great day of steps even without doing my usual walk. It's amazing how your steps add up when you are wandering around in stores.

Today is our 38th Anniversary. No big plans, other than spending the day together and just relaxing. If the weather clears up, we might BBQ for dinner and the girls will come over. Quin is working out of town yet, so won't see him.

We picked up some copies of Outdoor Canada magazine yesterday as there is an article and picture of our son in it. Rather exciting to see and nice keepsake. It's a picture with Quin with one of his clients from last year and the fish the client caught. Quin is chopping at the bit to get back up north again. He leaves at the end of this month for his fishing season. He has another busy season booked. The girls, Garry and I are going up for a few days in August to spend some family time. Garry and I will get to show the girls and Quin where we used to live when we were growing up.

Off to enjoy my day with my hubby. Have a wonderful and blessed day.
