Life is good!

Sunday, April 29, 2012

A wonderfully sunny day yesterday. Time for being outdoors and starting some gardening things. Time for sitting on the deck and enjoying the sunshine. Time to spend with my hubby wandering around Costco and the one of the greenhouses. Time with family, our girls came over for a visit and we persuaded them to stay for a bbq supper.

I didn't get my quota of steps in due to so much sitting around, but still managed to make it over 8000 steps anyway. Not stellar, but I'm satisfied as I got to spend time with some of my favorite people.

It's raining again this morning. If it warms up some, I'll stick my plants back outdoors for a bit. Slowly getting them used to being outdoors. If the sun starts shining, I'll do some transplanting of some of my seedlings into larger pots. It's Sunday, I'm going to enjoy the day.

My positives:
A lovely day yesterday with family.
I'm on holiday time.
Things are looking much greener outdoors. This rain has been greening things up nicely.
Puppy free for the next week, I can get my floors washed and they will stay clean longer than a few minutes *grin*
Life.

Have a great day, keep on moving forward towards your goals.

Hugs,
Wanda

I did it!

Saturday, April 28, 2012

Woo Hoo, I did it! I tracked 12123 steps yesterday with my FitBit. I broke the 12000 steps. When I started out on my virtual walk challenge, I had a goal of a minimum of 6000 steps a day, increased to 8000, then 10,000. When I found that I was making just over the 10,000 steps a day, I reset my goal to 12,000 steps a day. I did it! The great part...it really wasn't that hard. Being at home and not at work, probably had a lot to do with it, as I wasn't sitting at a desk working all day. I will have to see how easy it is to reach that goal daily once I'm back at work. In the meantime...I'm going to keep this body moving.

My positives:

Being able to obtain a FitBit...so much easier than manually counting my steps and a great motivator.
Having virtual walking partners. Thank you for joining with me and helping to keep me motivated.
The promise of a sunny day today.
Garry has today off work and we can spend some time together.
Some great sales at the grocery store yesterday enabled me to stock up on some items at a great price.
The snow is pretty much all gone.
Enjoyed a walk outdoors yesterday. It was pretty cold, so not a long walk, but a walk outdoors anyway.
Blessed with friends, family, love and life.

Have a great and fun filled day.
Hugs,
Wanda

Woo hoo on all those steps. GD is in the hospital went in some time this morning, around 2 or 3 this afternoon Cecilia still had not made an appearance, I am waiting to here from one of my DD's as to what's going on as they went up to the hospital, I was walking with Margaret and my cell phone was in my purse in a locker so I didn't get the message that they wanted me to go with them to the hospital, I sure hope she's been born by now. Youngest DD is on her way to Florida. Enjoy your time off.

Hugs,
Shirl

First day of my holidays!

Friday, April 27, 2012

First day of my holidays and I'm looking out the window at SNOW! Not impressed. The rain that we were getting yesterday turned to snow over night. It's still snowing, but it's very wet snow.

I'm enjoying the freedom of having a FitBit. I still catch myself starting to mentally count steps, but it's going to take awhile before I don't automatically do that. I am not sure just how accurate the FitBit is, it seems to count more steps than I sometimes think it should, and sometimes less than what I had manually counted. Oh well, I guess it all averages out. I like the fact that it tracks how many stairs I've climbed, converts my steps to miles(or kms), tells me how many calories I've burned and acts as a stopwatch for activities. I'm sure there is more that it will do which I will find out over time.
I don't agree with it's accuracy of monitoring my sleep, but that's because it always tells me that I've fallen asleep within 5 to 7 minutes after laying down....perhaps it's because I am usually so still. I do like the fact that it tells me how many times I've woken up during the night and whether or not I've been active at those times. Interesting little gadget.
I love the website that you download your info from the FitBit to. It's well laid out and as I can track my food etc on it, it makes it convenient. (No, I'm not leaving Spark...it has it's huge benefits too)

My positives:

I got to sleep in to 7 am this morning.
I don't have to go out into the miserable weather we are having.
I'm on holidays!
I got in some great steps yesterday and hope to do the same again today, even if at home.
I will have time to catch up on paying bills and such that I didn't do on Wednesday.
I'm blessed in so many ways, right from waking up this morning to having time for me.

Have a great day,
Hugs,
Wanda

Yay, my FitBit arrived!

Thursday, April 26, 2012

My FitBit arrived in the mail yesterday and all that remains is to figure out how to work it and understand what all it can do. I spent some time yesterday reading the online manual, so hope that I have it all figured out.
I wore it to bed last night and in a bit will check to see how my sleep really was. I will continue to manually count my steps today as I want to see how my counting matches up to the FitBit. It says that it has a 95 to 97% accuracy rate, so figure I should be fairly close.

Last day of work today and then it's holiday time. Yay!

My positives:
My FitBit came and I'm anxious to see how it compares to manually counting my steps.
The rain we are having has certainly greened up the world...love it!
Got my bread made yesterday, now the guys have bread once again.
So many blessings in my life, I am living grateful.

Have a wonderful day, remember that you are so worth having a healthy life.

Hugs,
Wanda

I can smell that fresh baked bread clear over here, lol. I did make some banana bread the other day, going to give my friend, Margaret, a small loaf when she comes over tomorrow for coffee. Glad your holiday time is almost here, woo hoo! Have a good evening.

April 25

Wednesday, April 25, 2012

Only today and tomorrow to get through and then it's time for some relaxation and non-scheduled days. Yay!

A nice day of raining yesterday, more to come today. Once the sun comes out again, things will green up pretty fast. It's a nice gentle soaking in kind of rain. Exactly what is needed.

I'm on day four of drinking my kefir milk. I have a small glass in the morning and then one again in the evening. Is it doing anything...possibly...I've noticed that the swelling in my right knee is going down. As well, a wart that I've had for almost 2years on the top of my foot seems to be getting smaller. I've had everything possible done to try and get rid of it and it's stubborn. It's been burnt, it's been scraped and had ointment applied. I've tried several natural methods and it's not budged. Now it appears to be getting smaller. Is it my imagination...not sure. All I know is that kefir is filled with probiotics,

My positives:
Almost holiday time.
A nice gentle rain that is soaking into the earth and my garden areas.
Almost caught up completely with my workload at work...makes going away for a few days much nicer.
Blessed with so many things, life, health, love, family and friends....the important things in life.

Have a great and wonderful day.
Hugs,
Wanda

It'll be interesting as time goes on to see how your body is affected by drinking that milk, this is something I may just have to look into, keep us posted. I am so glad you are getting some away from work time, you have been very busy at work lately and I am sure a break would be nice. I really liked the quote this morning. Have a wonderful Wednesday.

Shirl
