Oh Mother Nature, your sense of humor leaves much to be desired!

Thursday, April 05, 2012

Well the winter snow warning that was announced yesterday came to fruitation! We got it during the night and high winds to boot. Woke up to a foot of snow this morning that is very heavy and wet. The branches on the trees are snapping from the weight. Can't see the road or the sidewalks, had to dig out the truck so Garry could get to work. (Yay, I have today off work...maybe not so YAY, as now I have to shovel *grin*). So much for having the day to run some errands...not sure I want to be driving in all this. It's still snowing, although lightly now.

The newest member of the family made his appearance at 3am this morning. Garry's niece and her hubby welcomed their first baby into the world. A nice 7lb 14oz. He was due March 26 but preferred April 5th as his birthday! Can't wait to meet him.

My positives:
I didn't have to get up and drive to work this morning in all this snow.
A new member of the family.
Bread making day today...love the smell of fresh baking bread.
I'm back on track with my steps. This cold is lingering, but no longer keeping me down.
Blessed in so many ways and living grateful.

Hugs,
Wanda

April 4

Wednesday, April 04, 2012

A very busy day at work yesterday trying. I'm trying to catch up on the week's worth of work that I missed with being sick. I'm making headway, but think that today just might be a long day as it's my last work day this week and I don't want to carry a lot over to next week. We will see how the day progresses.

A beautiful day in the weather department yesterday, then tonight we are told to expect up to 25 cm of snow! On the plus side...I don't have to work tomorrow, so won't need to be out there at 4:30 in the morning shoveling and the temps are supposed to warm up quickly, so much of it will melt off anyway. You just have to love Mother Nature's sense of haha.

My positives:
It's spring time and the days are starting to get longer. It's now beginning to get light out around 7 am.
I was able to get for some groceries yesterday, now I'm stocked up on some fresh veggies and fruit. YAY.
I have a nice salad and apple to take to work today.
Today is my last work day this week, then a nice 4 day weekend. Once Easter is over, I have a couple of very busy weeks and then some holiday time starting April 27th to May 7.
Blessed with life and love.

Have a great and wonderful day,
Hugs,
Wanda

April showers bring May Flowers???

Tuesday, April 03, 2012

I love all those old rhymes that we learned as children and all the old adages. I guess because you know that at some point they originated with a grain of truth in them.
For me "April Showers bring May flowers" was always a sure sign that Spring was here. In reality...it all depends on where I lived as to whether or not that rhyme had truth in it. When we lived up north...April saw the ground still covered in feet of snow...and if there was any precipitation...it was more snow! Where I lived in BC...flowers were already poking up thru the ground and you were enjoying all the signs of April flowers. Where I live now, it's always a toss up as to whether or not the precipitation will be snow or rain. This year...even though the snow is pretty much all gone...there is still always that bit of a threat that we just might get more. There are signs of spring. The trees are beginning to awaken, and you know that a good rain would see all that brown grass come alive with green. So where am I going with all this...no where, just rambling *grin*

My positives:

A full day back at work yesterday and feeling good.
Although I have a week's worth of work to catch up on, I'm not stressing. It will get done as it gets done.
A good night's sleep last night. I love when I actually sleep right thru a night. Always a treat.
Spent some time out side on the deck after work yesterday keeping Quin's puppy company as she played in the yard. So nice to be out in the sunshine.
Blessed with life.

Have a great and wonderful day,
Hugs,
Wanda

Back to work.

Monday, April 02, 2012

I am on the end side of this head cold and heading back to work today. Last week was a write off at making my goals, but a plus on the side of allowing my body to heal and do it's magic at restoring itself. Sleep, lots of liquids and allowing my bodys natural healing processes works much better for me than attempting to take any kind of cold meds. I am well on the road to recovery YAY!

It's a very short work week for me, only the first three days of this week. Thursday is my "floater" day due to the Easter weekend. I will go in on Monday of next week, others will have Monday off. I can handle another 4 day weekend *grin*

The kids are all coming over for Easter dinner this coming weekend. We have a big turkey that was given to Garry that I will cook up for everyone. The girls are taking care of the veggie dishes and we will have a great meal I'm sure.

My positives:
The healing that the body can do when we allow our body to do what it does best.
Inner guidance.
Friends and family and their wonderful support and encouragement.
Work that allows me to take the time to heal.
So many blessings in my life, a new day, health, love and the list goes on.
Have a wonderful day, count your blessings, surprise yourself with how many you really have!

Hugs,
Wanda

Enjoy your short week and long weekend. You are sounding like you are feeling much better. We have sun today. Pearl and I are heading over to the gym this morning. Our building's water is going to be shut off at 9:30 this morning so they can repair a leak that happened over the weekend. Have a good Monday.

Hugs,
Shirl

Canadians...with excess milk kefir grains???

Sunday, April 01, 2012

I'm exploring all avenues in an attempt to find some milk kefir grains. Purchasing them from the states is not the quickest way to get my grains due to customs, but it's not a closed option. If there is anyone in Canada that has grains they are willing to ship, I'm willing to pay the costs. I know there are several people in Canada using kefir but many prefer "pick up only", which for me limits the possibilities unless it's someone in the Edmonton, Alberta area. The local health food store only carries the dry packaged culture, which is not the same. If you are able to help me out, please send an email.

Weather is not sure if it's wanting to rain or snow. We have a trace of white stuff on the ground and dark clouds overhead that look like they are filled with rain. The moisture will be great. I prefer the water type, but Mother Nature may not agree with me. I'm so anxious to get out in my gardens. My pear and apple trees show signs of budding already. I'm hoping that the cooler temps won't cause a problem for them. It's so early this year, but with the warm and lack of snow winter we had, it would be wonderful to have an extra month of growing season.

My positives:
I'm winning the battle with this very stubborn cold.
The kids were all over last evening, spend some time sitting around the firepit in the backyard before it got too cool.
Although this has been a write off week for getting my steps in, I'm not stressing about it. My body obviously needed the time to recover.
Today is a new day, a great day to be alive.

Have a wonderful Sunday,
Hugs,
Wanda
