Plugging along

Tuesday, March 13, 2012

I had a long work day yesterday due to a meeting that was longer than expected. Got home in time to grab a few groceries (fruit) from the store, watch the news and head to bed. I grabbed a very light supper for myself as I was not hungry, but very tired. I don't like going to bed on a full stomach. Ahhhh sleep.

Definitely more energy this morning. Tomorrow will be another late day home from work as I have an ERG meeting. Everyone has to serve on a committee each year and I have been put on the ERG committee. Unfortunately they have always met late in the afternoons, but are at least willing to look at possibly changing their meetings times to mornings to accommodate my work schedule. YAY.

Enjoying the spring like weather. We are supposed to be getting a snow storm on the weekend. I doubt the snow will last long though. The temperatures are above zero most days into next week. Lots of wind blowing last night though.

My positives:

A great nights sleep last night. I'm feeling much better today.
Time to stop and get some fruit yesterday.
Managed to just get in my minimum goal of steps yesterday, it was nip and tuck, but I did it!
Blessed with a new day to be creative in.
Family, friends and spiritual guidance, I would hate to think of where I would be without them all.

Have a great and wonderful day,
hugs,
Wanda

Why are Sunday nights not condusive to sleep???

Monday, March 12, 2012

I set my alarm on Sunday nights, so I know that I won't sleep in on Monday mornings. I get up early on Sunday mornings, so that I can go to bed at my usual work night time that night. I am usually tired when I hit the bed. I don't drink or eat anything that would rev me up...and yet sleeping Sunday nights seems to always be so sporadic! I feel like I doze more than I actually sleep. I'm always awake well before the alarm goes off, in fact I rarely even let the alarm go off as I am already awake. Crazy! On the other hand, I will sleep tonight.

We had a beautiful weather weekend. I got several seeds started in their little starter trays. Garry set up my little mini green house and my window sills are lined with trays too. I have my onions started, some watermelon and some tomatoes. As well, I started some geraniums for Garry. He loves to have them growing in front of the house. Some nice red apple colored ones.
We got in a visit with Kaeli, Shy wasn't home. We went out for breakfast yesterday morning, a nice treat. Garry bbq'd last night for supper. Yep...a good weekend.

My positives:
Accomplished some baking this weekend. Household chores all done.
The snow is all melted off the back deck...the cat is thrilled, she can sit out there now in the sunshine.
A great weekend of getting things done and relaxing to boot.

Life is good. My steps are where I want them to be and I'm making great progress in my virtual walk.

Have a wonderful day...remember it's your choice!

Hugs,
Wanda

A sleep mystery, maybe you are subconsciously worried the alarm won't go off so you don't go into a deeper sleep, or that you won't hear the alarm or you'll hear it shut it off and go back to sleep(this would be me, lol), once you get Monday out of the way you don't worry about it the rest of the week. Those are my ramblings on the subject. Sounds like your weekend was nice. It was pouring down rain when we left for Battle Creek this morning and dark, it was hard for me to see driving over, but we made it just fine, he had a good exam and things are all good with his eyes. Enjoy a good sleep tonight.

Hugs,
Shirl

WOW, and I thought I was alone with this ritual. I have the exact same sleep as you Wanda. Don't know why either it is like it is. I do have a nap in the afternoon, but that usually doesn't do anything as I also nap while on vacation and I sleep well at night. Hmmmm, must have something to do with work, LOL. Have a great day!

Time Change!

Sunday, March 11, 2012

I had to force myself to get out of bed this morning. The time change in the spring really messes with my sleep schedule. This time change takes me longer to adjust to than the fall one. I wish they would just leave it alone. Tomorrow now, although the clock will say it is 4:30 am, my body will still be saying 3:30 am!

It promises to be another beautiful day out today. The sidewalks are clearing off nicely, which means walking outdoors will no longer be a hazard with ice. YAY.

I have done great this week with my steps. A total of 74175 steps =37.0875 miles this week. This gives me a total of 320 miles (rounded off) miles walked to date. I have arrived in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on my virtual walk and think I will stop and visit friends there today *grin*

I baked 4 loaves of applesauce/cranberry bread yesterday and today just might get my Amish white bread done. I popped 3 loaves into the freezer so that Garry didn't eat them all in one sitting! He informed me that he didn't think I would like them, so he would man-up and take care of disposing them for me *grin* Good try!

My positives:
All the banking stuff is done now for the girls...now it's wait until Monday to see if all the conditions have been removed and they can go to the lawyers and sign papers.
Massage yesterday was so good!
I reached my goal each day this week of a minimum 10,000 steps. Even got one day of 11,000+ steps in.
Garry is going to get my little mini greenhouse all set up for me today. I can then have a spot to put all my little seedling trays. Yay, gardening time is beginning.
Women's conference to look forward to this coming weekend on St. Patty's day no less.
I have been given the gift of another day of life...can't get better than that.

Have a great and wonderful day.
Hugs,
Wanda

I am with you with the time change, it doesn't bother me much in the fall when we go back an hour, but usually in the spring I am out of sorts for about a week, but I surprised myself this time I got up fine, don't feel grumpy but is only the first day of the change, but I'd be ok if I felt this way all week. Didn't lose, but didn't gain so was happy about that, it really wasn't a bad week except for that one day. Good luck with all your little seedlings. I just bet Garry would help dispose of the wonderful breads you made, lol. Mine is always hanging around when I bake cookies and I usually give him one warm one and that's it. It's almost 60 out and I plan on getting out there and taking a walk this afternoon and get some of that wonderful vitamin D naturally. For St. Patrick's Day from my secret sister I got a pair of green sparkly clover leaf earrings, some Easter embellishments and a spool of ribbon with carrots on it. That is nice you have that women's conference to look forward to at the end of this week. Enjoy your Sunday.

Hugs,
Shirl

Enjoy your visit with your friends :) I'm only a 100 miles behind you, so will have to amp it up soon, LOL. Hope your body gets use to the time change soon. It doesn't affect me at all. Enjoy your day!

and the weekend begins!

Saturday, March 10, 2012

This morning I am off to my monthly massage and hopefully relief from a knot between my shoulders blades. After Wendy works her magic on my jaw, I should also feels some relaxing of the muscle along my jaw line. I yawned the other day and my jaw popped and has left me with a very sore and tense jaw muscle on the left side.

We had a glorious day yesterday with sunshine and warm temps. Supposed to be more of the same today. YAY.
I plan on getting more of my seedlings started today. Garry is going to haul my little mini greenhouse up from the basement and I will place it in the front window of my living room. I want to start my watermelon, banana squash and the rest of my onion seeds today if I can. I want to grow celery again this year. I have used up most of my packages of celery that I cut up and vacuum sealed last fall. Will need to plant a bit more this year, as I would like to try dehydrating some to see if I can save on storage room.
Bre...you definitely got me hooked on gardening. I'm even looking at some further expansion of my garden beds again this year *grin* I promised Garry that he would still have some grass to cut *grin*

My positives:

Sunshine and warmer weather. Snow (what we have) is melting.
The garden bug is being slowly let loose.
Massage treatment this morning.
It is nice to be able to leave some windows open for brief periods of time once again. I love the fresh smell that flows through the house after a winter of being closed up.
Things are moving along nicely for the girls to obtain their mortgage. Lots of loops for them to jump through, but it looks like a go-ahead finally.
Being alive.

Have a great and wonderful Saturday. Take the time to appreciate the gift of life you have been given.

Hugs,
Wanda

Yay It's Friday!

Friday, March 09, 2012

I am so looking forward to it being the start of a weekend. This week has been jammed packed with busy stuff.

Our brain storming meeting yesterday was a good one. It lasted a couple of hours, but we came away from it with a good start on the re-classification of our job descriptions. We will each work on our own over the next week and meet again as a group next week and then as a department the following week. Hopefully we be much further ahead in our endeavors to re-write things.

Made it to the bank yesterday, only to find out that I was going to need to talk to a financial officer, who wouldn't be available until today. No problem. I will stop in on my way home from work and finish things off.

Got my shaggy dog look turned into a very short summer look! I love how it only takes me a few minutes in the morning now to look reasonably assembled! *grin*

Weekend plans....planting more seedlings. I want to finish getting all my onion seedlings started and then start on my watermelon and squash seeds. Catch up on household chores and then find a good spot in the sunlight and do some reading! Those are the plans...will they remain the same in actual fact...hard to say *grin*

My positives:
I have been maintaining a steady reaching of my steps goal each day this week.
I'm finally getting more water into me.
Chat with my son on the phone last night.
Detected a scam that a scam artist was attempting to pull on my hubby in regards to buying our truck. Garry really had "red flags" appear to him when this person said that they wanted to buy the truck, would send someone to pick it up as they were shipping it to Malaysia for their son (sight unseen). That they worked off shore and the only way they could be contacted was by text! They would not be able to go to a bank and transfer the money, as once again they worked off shore, but they could use paypal. Very interesting that they didn't have access to their banking via computer, but they did have access to paypal. A little bit of googling "someone wants to buy my truck using paypal" and voila...you get confirmation that it is a scam. They apparently target ads on Kiijji and Craigs list the most.
Blessed with inner guidance and the ability to search for things on the internet!

Have a wonderful day/weekend. Be excited about being alive.

Hugs,
Wanda

Glad Garry's radar was working and he realized something wasn't right. It's to bad there are those kind of people out there just waiting for a chance to take somebody for a ride. After such a busy week unwind and enjoy your weekend.

Hugs,
Shirl
