Working on increasing my steps this week.

Wednesday, February 22, 2012

Well, I'm working on another increase. I figure if I can make it over 10,000 steps a couple of times now, that I might as well shoot for that goal as an everyday thing! It takes some creative moving on my part, but it's nice to know that it is not impossible.
Just think 2 months ago, I had set my daily goal as a minimum of 6500 steps! In hind sight, probably too low, but it was a goal none the less.

I am so blessed to have the support and encouragement of my teammates. Thank you to all of you.

My positives:

We didn't get the overnight rain/snow that was predicted. Which means the roads are not bad this morning.
I've got a new goal for steps this week.
It's a short work week and already it's hump day!
Learning to let God handle the big stuff and not stress about the small stuff.
Blessed with family and friends.

Have a great and wonderful day. Remember that you are worthy of having a healthy life.

Hugs,
Wanda

Woo Hoo for you on your steps. I found dancing around helps increase my steps while having fun at the same time. Way to go!

WOW, at this rate you will definitely be there way before me. At this point in time, I am not getting much steps in because of this darn cold, grrrr.

The long weekend is over and it's back to work.

Tuesday, February 21, 2012

How come the time off seems to always go by so quickly? It's back to work this morning and a busy week ahead of me. Department meeting this morning and Vendor meeting on Thursday, plus all that goes in between those meetings *grin*. I would rather be busy than not.

I met my motivation challenge from yesterday. I set my goal at 10,000 steps and I made 10,664 steps. Go ME! Because I wasn't able to get outdoors and do those steps, I broke it down into mini challenges. 1000 per hour. I think that I now know very well every corner of my house *grin*

Our temperatures are heading on a downward spiral this week, with chances of snow thrown in. Today, it might be rain, but as the temps are dropping, tomorrow's roads will not be nice to drive on and the temps will keep on dropping into the minus 20's. On the plus side....there are really only about 2 months of winter left! I can handle this.

My positives:
I met my motivation challenge from yesterday.
I have a start on purchasing my garden seeds. I'm excited about attempting to grown my own peanuts this year. I like planting new things and giving them a go.
Did some computer maintenance on my laptop yesterday and it seems to be working a bit faster. Maybe it's my imagination, but I'll go with that.
Life...how blessed I am.

Have a wonderful Tuesday,
Hugs,
Wanda

Good going with those steps. Spring is not that far away, glory be, we'll soon be able to see those sunny daffodils waving their pretty little heads and saying hello! Hope your Tuesday is a terrific one.

Hugs,
Shirl

Family Day in Alberta

Monday, February 20, 2012

It is a Provincial holiday today, at least for me! Not all businesses close for the day. Mine does, but my hubby's doesn't. Family day is not so much a "family" time as it is just a day off with pay for some of us! I'm not complaining though as it makes for a shorter work week *grin*.

We got some snow yesterday after all. Not a lot, but enough that shoveling is required. Judging by the predicted temperatures for the rest of the week, it will most likely be gone soon. The wind was the big culprit yesterday. Garry has gone out to do the shoveling this morning as any attempt yesterday was met with it blowing right back in the driveway!

My positives:
I have today off work.
Even though I was stuck indoors yesterday, I managed to get a decent amount of steps in.
Time to spend catching up on some reading today.
A visit with Shyra and Kyle yesterday afternoon. We haven't seen Kyle for a bit, so was nice to catch up with him.
Blessed with another day of life.

Have a great and wonderful day. Choose wisely.

Hugs,
Wanda

Wanda: We do not have the day off here being federal government employees. I guess they figure we have enough days off as it is, hee hee. It is a family day in Ontario though. I hear you are sending me some snow tomorrow, grrrr. Have a great day off!

Moving right along.

Sunday, February 19, 2012

I'm moving right along and getting those steps in. I think one of the best things that I did this year was join in the virtual walk. It is what is keeping me motivated and moving. I'm actually looking forward to doing more of my walking outside and seeing how much further I can increase my daily steps.

Yesterday saw Garry and I heading out to the plumbing store to get some ideas for renovating the ensuite bathroom...sadly disappointed in the displays as it was so cluttered and appeared that they were doing renovations themselves . We then headed out to Lee Valley tools, a place that we have been trying to get to for a long time. I picked up some garden seeds and now I'm anxious to start getting my seedlings on the go. I even found a package of "peanuts" to try planting. Apparently they do well here, so will give them a go also.

The girls are going to plant a small garden in our yard too this year. Basically to grow some carrots, lettuce, kale and herbs. We have the room, and they don't so why not help each other out.

My positives:
Two days left of my long weekend.
It's almost time to start my seedlings!
I had a good week of steps, even with one day of lower ones.
We are blessed with all that we need and many little extra blessings too!

Have a wonderful Sunday,
Hugs,
Wanda

Spring has got to be in the air when you start talking about getting your seedlings going, lol. The way things are going here I wouldn't be surprised to see people getting their gardens going earlier than usual. Enjoy this day.

Shirl

Sounds like your girls are now bitten by the gardening bug - WahOOoo! I am feeling so out of it this year because I'm not planting ... gardening friends here are reassuring me they will have plants for me once I return on 1 June when I'll just have to go straight into the garden and start planting. A friend in the garden allotments is going to till my garden for me ... what a great community I've fallen into! Don't you just love Lee Valley - they have so many 'things' to help with gardening don't they.

Enjoy those little seedlings!

Plugging along

Saturday, February 18, 2012

I'm plugging along. Didn't get as many steps as I had hoped for, but still a respectable amount. We had a very enjoyable afternoon and evening with our kids and Quin's new puppy. Sage is a real delight and we are in love with her. She is eight weeks old and will be a big girl when she is full grown. She is a cross between a Golden Retriever and a Bernese. She has the coloring of the "golden", but the look of the "Bernese". Sage and our cat, Kismet behaved very well together. Kismet was totally unsure of what had entered her territory, but was curious, although she kept her distance. Sage didn't know what Kismet was either so stayed very close to her master when ever she spotted the cat. Hopefully they will be okay together as they both get used to each other over the next while.

Garry BBQ'd last night as the kids and him enjoyed their steaks. I had made corn on the cob and mashed potatoes, no one wanted a salad. A very simply supper. Veggies for me and meat for everyone else. We had a great evening together.

My positives:
Still three days left in my weekend.
Family time.
Meeting Sage.
Doing well on staying on track and getting my steps in.
Being alive to enjoy another day.

Have a great and wonderful day,
Hugs,
Wanda
