January 21...a special day!

Saturday, January 21, 2012

Today is a day of celebration. It's our eldest birthday today. What a blessing she is in our lives. So many wonderful memories and I'm sure so many more yet to come. Happy Birthday baby girl...may your day be as special as you are.

Tonight we are heading out for Greek food in the city to enjoy spending time together and celebrating Kaeli's birthday. What a great blessing to have all three children together. We will head back to our place after dinner and spend more family time. YAY!

Garry got started on tearing out the carpet in the family room yesterday. It's all ready for the new flooring to be installed. Quin is coming over today to lend a hand. I'm so thrilled to see the last of that awful carpet. Now the only place that we will have carpet is in the bedrooms. It's been an interesting reveal to Garry realizing just how much the carpets have contributed to his allergies. Once all the reno stuff is complete we will get all the furnace ducts cleaned out and I'm sure he will see even more positives.

My positives:
Kaeli...one of our greatest blessings.
Although it is just beginning to snow, it's a Saturday, so I will be able to keep up with the shoveling. It is only supposed to snow today and then not again until next Thursday.
Carpet is gone from the family room and new flooring is being installed today.
I've had a great week of getting my steps in...met my new determined goal of not less than 8000 steps a day. I think I will continue to keep that number as my benchmark now.
Family time today and this evening.
Amazing blessings in my life. So grateful.

Have a wonderful day,

Happy birthday, Kaeli! Enjoy your Greek food!

Wanda, I enjoy your reno achievements! I, on the other hand, e-filed my federal & state taxes today so hoping refunds come before I leave for Sedona - where I'll be training in Reiki Level 1...and getting to see the Grand Canyon!

Enjoy your day...We are having sn*w today as well...and the meeting got cancelled so I can just enjoy my girls, getting tasks done. Miss John, though, since he isn't coming down to stay home & tend to his condo/car/front yard. :(

Yay It's Friday!

Friday, January 20, 2012

How can a week go by so slow and so fast at the same time??? Each day seemed to drag, but now it's already Friday!

Our meeting with the lady that is doing the actual Memory book for our Library's 35th Anniversary went very well last night. It did end up being a longer meeting than we had counted on, but at least we have made great head way. We have now flushed out the areas that we need to do a bit more picture gathering work and the layout is generally done. It will be nice to see the project completed, but it has been interesting working on it.

Tomorrow is Kaeli's birthday and we are going out to dinner as a family. Kaeli has chosen a Greek place to head to, should be a great evening.
Other than Kaeli's celebration, I have no other plans for the weekend outside of the usual house cleaning chores.

My Positives:
It's Friday.
The snow that is predicted isn't supposed to start until tomorrow, which means I won't have to worry about it getting all packed down on the sidewalks while I am at work. I'll be able to shovel as it piles up.
Not sure where the warmer temperature went last night as it is minus 31 right now, but suppose to warm up over the next few days to minus 5.
Got my steps in yesterday, woo Hoo!
Had to remind myself of my word often yesterday to get those steps in, but it worked!
Being alive.

Have a great and fabulous Friday,

Happy Birthday wishes to Kaeli and enjoy your evening out and the Greek food. Joyce came home briefly today, I did not get to see her, her son told the office they think she had a mild stroke, but are not for sure whats going on with her, she went back home with him and she has another doctor's appointment next Thursday. Our snow hasn't gotten here yet either, but is suppose to late this afternoon or early evening. Just hope it's not so bad that we can't all get together at Applebee's tomorow.

Oh, Wanda, that sn*w that didn't arrive came to RI! I shouldn't complain knowing what other parts of the world are getting but the 4 in. overnight raises my anxiety level to a major level, especially since my town didn't plow it. I'm nervous enough driving when they HAVE plowed. Tonight we are getting another 4 to 6 in. and tomorrow is our strategic planning meeting at 8 AM. Think I will talk with the boss about maybe skype-ing in if they don't postpone it.

Will the memory book be published online at your website? Does the library HAVE a website?

Be safe...ooooo...Greek....spanokopita
! Love it! John & I actually have Thanksgiving at a Greek restaurant in Providence every year. We love it! Every time we go I tell John I'm ordering something different...but just can't give up that spanokopita - especially since spinach is my FAVE veggie.

Enjoy! Hugs and love.

Temps are warming up...only minus 25 this morning!

Thursday, January 19, 2012

Our temperatures are warming up. Not bad, only a week of massive cold weather. We are supposed to get some snow on Saturday as the temperatures continue to warm. By Tuesday of next week we should be back up to a lovely minus 5 temperature according to last night's forecast. YAY!

Our Memory book that we are working on for the 35th Anniversary at the library seems to be coming together nicely. We have a meeting tonight to go over some changes and additions and hopefully will be able to send it off to the printers by the end of next week. It has been a lot of work, some frustration, but over all a great project to work on. We celebrate our library's 35th Anniversary of existence on February 14th.

Yesterday was payday, today I need to try to get out to pick up Kaeli's birthday present for Saturday. Still have to figure out what to get Garry for his birthday the following week!

My Positives:

This work week is almost over.
Yesterday was payday...yay!
All the bills are paid, there won't be anymore that come until the beginning of Feb. now.
A birthday celebration to look forward to on Saturday.
I'm finding it easier and easier to get my steps in each day.
Our family is blessed with good health.
Waking up this morning and knowing that I have a whole day to work at being all that I have been created to be.

Have a wonderful day,
PS...thanks for stopping by.

John laughs when I say I love when my bills are paid. It's having something off my mind and my plate. He tells me I'm crazy because no one feels that way...but now I have you & Snuglbunny to quote! :)

Enjoy your warmer weather! It's colder here today and the dreaded 4 letter word is in the forecast for tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday - at least. Yuck.

Arctic air mass likes us!

Wednesday, January 18, 2012

The Arctic air mass that is stalled over top of most of western Canada doesn't seem to be in any hurry to relocate. We had wind chill warnings through out most of the province last night. Wind chill warnings occur when the temperatures produced by the wind reach minus 40 and colder. Actual temperature this morning is minus 33, haven't seen the wind chill temperature, and really don't want to know. *grin*

I got some great steps in yesterday. I almost made it to the 10,000 step mark...9769 steps in. I'm thinking that by this summer when I can get outdoors and do some walking, I should be able to make that the norm.

My positives:
My meeting for last night got cancelled due to the cold weather. It has been postponed to Thursday.
Excited about the number of steps I got in yesterday.
Woke up this morning blessed with another day of life.
Staying on track, love my word of the year ... Determination.
I'm excited to think that if I can get this many steps in when they are all indoor steps, that when I can get outdoors and enjoy walking, how many more I will be able to do! Cass Lake, here I come!

Have a great and wonderful day,

I saw it reported that somewhere near you (forget the name now) had an actual temp of -45 degrees! I can't even imagine that level of cold. *shivers*

Wanda, is that cold weather got you moving so much? emoticon on getting those steps in. Love your DETERMINATION!

It was 51*F when I got up this morning and in the 3 hours until I left for work, it dropped to 30*F. After reading your temps, I'm not feeling so badly...though the prediction is the cold mass from Canada is dropping down to engulf us.

BTW, I put a sticky on the challenge of the day. Just thought it might help new members to notice them. Hope that's okay with you and Wanda.

Hugs and love.

Wanda don't feel bad about the blogs, I don't get notices of any blogs unless I check the subscribe to this blog box, and then I usually only get a couple notices and they stop so I usually just go to the friend feed and go to friend's blogs from there or I go to my spark page to my spark friends and visit their spark page and check out their blogs from there, but I don't work and have much more time to do these things. We were 19 this morning here, that would probably seem like a heat wave to you, lol. Joyce went back to ER early this morning, haven't heard yet what's going on, her helper went with her this time. Tomorrow I am going with DD to her cardiologist appointment in East Lansing. Saturday we will be meeting the kids at Applebee's for lunch to celebrate our anniversary # 46, which is this Sunday. Had lots of fun with the ladies last night, that was a nice and needed break. Well try and keep warm and keep on stepping those steps.

You are doing great on your steps Wanda. You will definitely be waiting for me as I only average 3 and 4 miles per day. We have the same wind and cold here. Well, not as low as -33 and you can keep that one, LOL. Have a great day and stay warm.

The temperature keeps on dropping (minus 32)

Tuesday, January 17, 2012

Yep, it's cold out there! Minus 32 this morning with a wind chill of minus 40! It's one of those mornings that you wish you didn't have to leave the house.

I forgot to report yesterday that on my weigh in on Sunday morning, I eliminated the weight that I had gained the previous Sunday. Nothing extra, but I'm okay with that, it means all this exercise is starting to show some positive results. Over all since the beginning of the year, I have eliminated 1.67 pounds.

I have a busy day at work today and another evening meeting tonight. At least it will be a short meeting tonight.

My Positives:
Kaeli's birthday this Saturday. We are all going out for dinner to celebrate. She has chosen a Greek experience. Bless her heart, she checked out the menu online and they serve lots of vegetarian things.
I'm staying on track, haven't missed a day of exercising since the last week of December.
I'm blessed with a warm home to live in, and a warm office to work in.
I'm blessed with family and friends who offer encouragement and support.
I'm blessed with life.

Have a great day,

Brrrrrr...but I would rather the cold than sn*w...as you can imagine. It's warming here today...but we did have that dreaded white stuff - not much - then to sleet and now rain. Heading out a bit later to allow the roads to melt since John called & said it's slippery north of here - he works in the same part of the state as I.

Enjoy your day! Hugs.
