Still stepping along...

Thursday, January 12, 2012

I'm so pleased with myself. Even on the couple of days that I really haven't felt the energy to get my steps in, my wiser self has known that I needed to get it done! I'm well into my second week of the virtual walk and still going strong. I had set my goal as a minimum of 6000 steps per day and have been easily surpassing that each day. I thought about raising it, but then thought no, this way I feel REALLY good about how well I am doing. Instead on only going over by a small amount, I'm going over by a big amount. It's all about the mind games *grin*

My positives:

It's Thursday and almost the weekend.
I'm staying steady.
My legs are getting stronger once again.
I have the treat of a massage appointment this Saturday...I haven't had one for a couple of months.
I'm blessed, as is my family, with generally good health.
A warm home and food on the table and transportation back and forth to work...so many blessings.

Have a wonderful day, keep your focus.

Working my way through the week.

Wednesday, January 11, 2012

I looked on the calendar this morning and realized that it is only Wednesday....this has already been a long week! Most of yesterday was taken up with meetings and training. Now comes the work part of all those meetings...getting the stuff done!

I was really proud of myself yesterday. By the time I got home, I was wiped and just wanted to curl up and veg. I guilted myself into getting my exercises and steps in. Knowing that others could see whether I had done something really is a great motivator. Thanks to all who have joined in the virtual walk! You have kept me accountable. Despite being tired, I headed downstairs and got all my steps in and some stretching. I'm really liking my word of the year too, it keeps popping into mind when I feel like sloughing off.

My positives:

I didn't allow tiredness to overtake me and keep me from doing what I know I needed to.
It's a new day, it's half way through the work week, and I'm ready to face what the day holds.
Blessed with a warm place to live and food upon our table.
Renewing my acquaintance with the power of words.

Have an awesome day, keep on focusing on your goals.

A busy day...

Tuesday, January 10, 2012

It is going to be a busy day today at work. My desk won't see much of me as I have back to back meetings and then an evening meeting tonight. On the plus side, I get them all over with in one day!
We are moving into a new process at work for job classifications called Hayes Classification, which will a year long process with implementation beginning next year. This means we all have to re write our job descriptions according to a format, hoping that we are using the correct wording etc. Depending on the wording, our job will be classified on a set scale. This will be an interesting year to say the least.

I had a good day of staying on track yesterday, got my steps all in, but I was so tired from lack of sleep the night before that I was in bed by 7:30 last night. I slept hard for a couple of hours and then drifted in and out the rest of the night. I was ready to get up this morning though, so I must have gotten the rest I needed.

We are heading into a cold snap for a couple of days according to the forecast, lots of wind with it, but no snow. This just might be the first winter we have with no real snow! I'm not complaining, but then I'm not dependent on the snow for my living either!

My positives:
A much better sleep last night. Feeling more rested today.
My word of the year is helping me to stay on track and focused.
Met all yesterday's challenges, except perhaps the water one, I lost count and might have been a glass short when I went to bed.
Blessed with another day of life.

Have a great and wonderful day,

Your day sounds very busy indeed. We are still experiencing above normal temps, 40's today and may see 50 tomorrow, but then Thursday falling temps and snow through the weekend, well that's what they are saying, but we knew that this could not last and winter would arrive sooner or later, it was nice while it lasted. Made one valentine card last night and one birthday card suitable for a guy, had fun. I have to say it's been nice not having icy and snowy roads to deal with so far this winter. Hope you get a much better solid rest tonight. I weigh in on Sunday and it'll be interesting to see what the scale says to me, I know I've been feeling a lot better since eating healthier and getting some exercise in daily, it does make a difference. You'll probably be ready to get in that bed tonight after such a busy day. Can you believe we are almost half way through week 2. We are doing it.

Wanda, your workday sounds like a typical one for me. Hehehe...we had a tiny bit of sn*w during the night - enough to make the roads icy. Lots of accidents and I had no choice but to drive...yikes. Took me 1 1/2 hours to travel a mere 16 miles. Still cloudy but 41*F now.

Hope your meetings are painless...good luck with the revised job descriptions...

A new day, another opportunity to be the best I can be.

I'm rushing this morning as I woke up to the alarm this morning. Normally I am awake before the alarm goes off. I had trouble falling asleep last night and obviously could have still kept sleeping. Now I'm in a bit of a rush mode this morning.

My positives:

A new day before me to be all that I have been created to be.
Some sleep to help me through the day.
Although my Wii informed me that I had gained 1.3 pounds, I don't believe that is something to stress over. I put on almost 30 miles of walking last week, exercised everyday, kept on track with my nutrition. I think it might just be one of those things. I will watch even more closely this week and see if things don't change. Drink more water and continue to be on track with everything else.
The kids were all over for supper last night and a nice visit.
A busy week ahead of me at work.
Family, friends and love in my life.

Have a great day,

Yep, can relate. Sundays are always hard for me to sleep and I dread Monday mornings, but we shall survive, put in our steps and have a great day Wanda! :)

I'm working backwards this morning. Usually I do my blog first and then head to the team page, but decided to reverse the order this morning, for no reason, just because! *grin*

A late night at our house last night. The girls came over for a "party" at Mom and Dads and we got into a mean game of cards. So many laughs. There is a re-matched scheduled for tonight!

I am thrilled with my progress this first week of the virtual walk. A total of 59390 steps or the equivalent of 29.695 miles! Woo Hoo. So now I know my ball park figure and the bar is set.

My positives:

Feeling very happy with how my "determination" has seen me through a successful first week of the new year.
I'm feeling motivated and excited about what lies ahead.
A great evening with the girls last night.
A great time to look forward to day with the girls and Quin coming over for supper and cards.
I have had a nice relaxing weekend so far.
Chat with Garry's Mom this morning, she is doing well.
Healthy eating all this week and did pretty good with keeping up my water intake.
All in all...I'm happy and pleased with myself.

Have a wonderful day. Make a gratitude list and see for yourself how much you have to be grateful for.

... and at the rate I'm going I might just have to hop on a plane from Avignon.

Wanda you're right 'the bar has been set' for our first week. I like that challenge of a 'mean game of cards' ... so we'll see what's in the cards for our walk now that the bar is getting reset for next week! heheh emoticon

Glad your week went well. I am looking forward to week 2 of my challenges, I am sore from yesterdays video, it might have only been 15 min. but it was an intense 15 min., but each day doing a different one is challenging my muscles all over and that is good. Didn't make it to church this morning and not really doing much today, but did get in my video, in fact did two of them, still want to ride the stationary bike for 30 min. We have sun and blue skies here, I don't think it's as warm as yesterday, but still a beautiful day. You are doing super on your walking. Enjoy your card game this evening and time with family. Have a great week.

WOW, that is great miles for sure. I'll have to go look at mine for last week and see what it brought me *grin :) Okay, so I've added it and checked it out and at this rate you will have to wait for me unless you have more miles to than me, so find a nice B&B to wait at :) with an exercise and pool of course, hee hee. Have a great day!
