Ahhhh, holiday time.

Thursday, December 22, 2011

I am officially celebrating some holiday time now. I don't have to go back to work until Jan 04.

Garry will be leaving soon to head to Saskatchewan to pick up his Mom. I have been relieved of that duty. Now I can concentrate on finishing off my to do list. Shy is coming over later this morning to pick me up and we will head into the city to pick up a few things and then for groceries.

Had a nice chat with my son on the phone last evening. I think he is really struggling with not be able to be at home for Christmas too. He is hoping to have some time off starting the 28. I can hardly wait.

Also had a lovely phone call from family in BC. I was able to let them know that their parcel is now on it's way. Now I just need to remember to call my aunt at some point today to see how she is doing.

My positives:

Time to do things on my to do list.
I'm almost ready for Christmas.
Hearing from Quin last night.
Got my e-card done.
The blessing of a mild winter so far.
We are now on the other side of short days...the days are going to start getting longer. Yay...8 seconds longer today *grin*
Having a new day ahead of me to live to the best that I can.
Spending time with Shyra today, always fun and a blessing.

Have a wonderful day,
Hugs,
Wanda

Wanda, I am on holiday next week...CANNOT WAIT! Though it will be trying to dig out my apartment after the crazy RV schedule I've worked.

I love Christmas morning...I make/get calls from family in Italy...and my cousin Rina and I have our coffee "together" by phone. It just gives me a sense of celebrating with them.

Wishing you a blessed Christmas! (Never did get cards written)

It's almost here!

Wednesday, December 21, 2011

It's almost here...holiday time! Just today to get through and then I can concentrate on just home life and family for the next few days. YAY!

Quin's girlfriend, Afton, stopped in for a nice long visit yesterday. She is such a sweetheart, no wonder my son love's her.

Kaeli dropped by for a few minutes also to drop off her gifts that I am including in the box to be shipped. Now I have to find a bit bigger box than I had as it all doesn't fit quite right...good thing I work at a place that gets various sized boxes in on a daily basis! I will get everything packed up and shipped today. God willing it will still arrive in time for Christmas, and if not, it will be in time for Ukrainian Christmas. There is always a positive!

My positives:
Seeing Afton yesterday.
A quick visit with Kaeli.
I will be able to ship off the last of the Christmas gifts today.
Garry is going to be able to take the time off to go and get his Mom...I get to stay home and finish off last minute projects and shopping. What a blessings this was to hear last night.
Last day of work today, and it's payday!
To do list all ready to tomorrow.
Family, friends and love.

Have a wonderful day,
Hugs,
Wanda

Living life one day at a time.

Tuesday, December 20, 2011

December is such a great month for me...the one time of the year that I really live one day at a time. When I find my focus straying off to days in advance, I am able to re-focus and look at only the day that I have to get through. My busy work schedule and home life at this time of the year forces me to do what I should be doing all year long. Living in the moment, because really those are the only moments that I am guaranteed anyway. When I stress out about things that have yet to occur...seriously, I usually stress for nothing, because all of my imaginings don't end up happening anyway! So why do I do it...human nature I guess.

Yesterday was an overtime day at work, but it worked out fine as the company that I was expecting postponed until today. Today is a much better day for all of us anyway. Get me through my work day today and then I only have tomorrow before holiday time begins. Woo Hoo.

My positives:
Gentle reminders through out each day to live in the moment.
Afton coming for a visit today.
Phone call from Quin yesterday.
I'm excited about MIL coming for Christmas (yes, I'm blessed...I like my MIL)
Winter has been very nice so far this year. Even the short daylight hours are more tolerable with the lack of snow and cold!
Blessed that I have internet...so much of my Christmas preparation has been as a result of the ease of access to recipes, ideas, etc through the internet.
Blessed with being able to have communication with friends and family as a result of the internet. (How far we have come even in my generation!)
Being alive...what a blessing.

Have a wonderful day,
Hugs,
Wanda

Your attitude is a wonderful asset and I am sure helps you through your day, one day at a time. How many of us fret over what's going to happen tomorrow when we should just be focusing on today. Your list of positives is wonderful. You had mentioned Christmas stockings on one of my blogs you visited and my kids still talk about the wonderful Christmas stockings I always fixed for them and how they looked forward to their stocking every Christmas and it always amazes me that the things I put in their stockings has stayed with them all these years, but it touches my heart each time I hear them talking about it. DH is going to be glad to hear that the days start getting longer after tomorrow, lol. Have a good day.

Hugs,
Shirl

Three more work days and then it's HOLIDAYS!

Monday, December 19, 2011

Only three more work days and then some time off. There is so much to get done at work in the next three days. Throw in two meetings on top of everything else and it's crazy. I need to keep reminding myself...what gets done, gets done; I'm only one person; the world will not end if something gets missed! *grin*

We had a lovely weekend. Company over for a visit Saturday evening, then yesterday celebrating Shyra's birthday. Kaeli made a Peanut Butter Pie for Shyra, as she has decided that she has moved beyond ice cream cakes for her birthday. *Yay, finally *grin* The Peanut Butter Pie was a hit, but you definitely do not want a piece bigger than a sliver...oh my, it is rich. I think that Kaeli and Kyle were the only two that could finish their piece. Shyra was thrilled with it though, her favorite thing outside of mashed potatoes is peanut butter.

My positives:

A lovely weekend.
Garry did a wonderful job of installing a new hand made stair railing. I will have to take some pictures and post them.
Celebrating Shyra's birthday.
How incredibly blessed Garry and I are with our children.
Only three more working days until holiday time.
My house is super cleaned up. Just have to finish getting Garry's Mom's room ready for her.
Garry might be able to go and get his Mom instead of me...I can then get the rest of the Christmas things finished...keeping my fingers crossed.
Having life...what a blessing each day is.

Have a wonderful day, remember that you are worthy.

Hugs,
Wanda

Sunday, time to recharge.

Sunday, December 18, 2011

A late night last night, and then trouble falling asleep and staying asleep. Not sure why I had such a difficult time going to sleep, but there it is.

We had company over last night and really enjoyed our visit with them. We had invited my co-worker and his wife over. Geff and Sandy are a very lovely couple and we have meaning to have them over for far too long. We really enjoyed the opportunity of getting to know them better.

Today is my youngest birthday....Happy Birthday Shyra. It is so hard to believe that she is 24 years old today. She is just a lovely a blessing today as she was the day she was born. Her name was given to me in a dream...Shyra-lin, her middle name was chosen at birth, partly because of the season, partly because of the emotion she created...Joy! I also knew that she would be my last pregnancy through the dream. (we were told by medical doctors that I would not be able to have children...God blessed us with three miracles). There are eight years between our eldest miracle and our second one, four years between our second and last. The story of the dream from God is a too long to tell here, but it was given to me before I became pregnant with Quinton as was the name. When Quin arrived instead of a little girl, we knew there would be one more child. Quin is the fulfillment of the promise, Shy is the fulfillment of the dream.

Quin's name had been chosen at the same time as Kaeli's name, two years before I became pregnant with Kaeli. We believe that each of the children's names were chosen by God. Kaeli's Dawn....We thought we had made up her name by combining Kelly and Kali...turns out her name is actually Hawaiian for Garry, which is her Daddy's name. "Dawn" because she was the beginning of our new family. Quinton's, was the only boys name we could agree on, and it turns out to means "fifth", he was my fifth pregnancy. His middle name James, is his Daddy's middle name. Shyra-lin Joy...the biblical meaning of her name...is Hebrew for "my song". Yes she is the grand finale. Again we did not find out the meaning of any of their names until after they were born and already named. We had known the meaning of Shy's name for awhile, when a doctor we were seeing for the first time actually asked us if we knew what her name meant...turns out he is a Canter in a Jewish synagogue and was actually very excited to hear her name!
Yes, we have been incredibly blessed and every day I give thanks for my three miracles. Yes they have given us the usual headaches that all parents go through as their children grow, but they have also given us unmeasurable joy.

My Positives:
My children, my husband.
Friendships.
How blessed our family is.

Have a wonderful day,
Hugs,
Wanda

It was very interesting to read about your children's names. Both my girls' names have significance that I didn't find out until after they were born. :-)

Sometimes if I do something energyzing before bed, I then have trouble falling asleep and staying asleep. Maybe the good time you had with your company contributed to it. Have a great Sunday Wanda!
