This has been a long week, but it's finally Friday!

Lots of meetings this week at work and from the schedule that was set up at one of the meetings yesterday, it looks like there will be lots of meetings from now until Feb. 14, 2012 when we celebrate our 35 years as a library in Sherwood Park. I'll give it to librarians....they love meetings!

I'm really enjoying the "bubble" that we seem to be living under this winter. The snow that keeps getting predicted, misses us. The temperatures don't stay down low for very long, our snow that we had is almost all gone. This is a very strange weather year. More wind than we have ever had, but warmer temperatures. After all the snow we got last year, this is wonderful. If this was what winter was like all the time, I wouldn't have a problem with it!

My positives:
It's Friday!
I have my "ugly" sweater all ready to wear to tomorrow evening's Ugly sweater staff Christmas party.
Quin and Shy's birthday presents are all ready.
Just waiting for Shavon's Christmas present to arrive so I can get it wrapped and sent next week.The Christmas "to do" list is getting shorter.
Getting through each day one at a time.

My new favorite hot drink

I discovered my new favorite hot drink by trial and error. I am not a big coffee drinker, just my occasional French Vanilla from Tim Hortons. I don't mind the occasional hot chocolate, but as I'm not a big chocolate fan, this is not a drink I would choose first. Hot water and lemon gets boring after awhile, most tea, even the decaffinated ones don't sit well with me. I experimented and came up with a drink that actually gets better the longer it sits. First thing in the morning I boil my water, put a couple ounces of light coffee cream in the bottom of my travel mug, then throw in two cinnamon sticks, fill with water and I've got a drink that tastes great hot as well as cold. If I need a refill at work...just add more hot water and only a touch more cream. It is pretty good on calories too...less than 100. (In fact to be precise...only 65 calories per mug full)

My positives:
A good night's sleep last night. Appreciation of a nice warm home and bed especially as the temps have dropped to minus 14 this morning!
My new stairs to the family room are looking great. I'll take some pictures and post them.
A great visit with Kaeli last evening. She stopped in after work and shared supper with me. I had made a nice pot of soup for supper.
Meeting my goal of exercising each day.
Blessed with a great family and wonderful friends.
Taking one day at a time.

This has been a long week already! Thankfully last nights meeting was only an hour, which meant that I was home by my bedtime! It's a double bonus today...not only is it mid way through the work week, it's also payday. Yippee.

Now the next thing on my agenda is to get through the rest of this week, prepare for our Staff Christmas get together on Saturday evening, then Quin's birthday on Sunday. December is always a month where I'm very aware of the need to just take one day at a time. Get through one and then move on to the next one *grin*.

I need to get my out of town parcels wrapped and sent, but I'm waiting on one parcel to arrive that I've ordered. I will likely end up sending the parcel via the Greyhound as snail mail will likely not get it there in time for Christmas. Oh well...this is December, nothing new.

My positives:
A nice short evening meeting last night.
Progress and direction on the Memory book Louise and I are working on for the Library's 35th Anniversary.
I've had the added bonus of minimal snow shoveling so far this winter. Supposed to get some on Saturday, but it's the weekend so that's okay.
Above normal temperatures the past while, which makes dealing with winter so much easier.
It's payday...in my world, that is always a great bonus.
A new day, a new opportunity to be all that I have been created to be.

Plugging along

A busy day at work yesterday and it will be a long day today. Not only do I have my regular work day, but I have a meeting this evening for work related things. On the plus side, they have arranged the meeting early in the evening 6pm to help accommodate me. I have a feeling this will be a way of life for the next couple of months as we work towards our 35 Anniversary celebration in February. The past few days have been spent sorting through the 1000's of pictures from over the years and compiling ones that we think might work in a Memory book. This will be an interesting project to say the least.

My positives:

The fudge was a great hit at work. (plus side...it's not sitting in my house)
A good night's sleep.
Christmas "to do" list is getting shorter.
Staff get together this weekend, once that is over, I can concentrate on family things.
I have so many things that are positives in my life, that it is hard this morning to think of any one thing! That in itself is a blessing. My life is good and I am blessed.

A successful and busy weekend.

I woke up on Saturday morning filled with motivation and I put it to good use. Stayed away from things that would distract me (the computer) and as a result, I accomplished plenty.
Made good in-roads into the Christmas baking, tackled making fudge and learned that it's best to line the pan first, so much easier to get the fudge out still looking nice, got items for two people on my Christmas list completed, and two birthday presents purchased. Yay! Now I just have to keep the motivation going and keep the distractions to a minimum and I will be done in no time. (I even got snow shoveling worked into my day on Saturday, thankfully none since *grin*)

My Positives:
I can head out to work this morning feeling like I've made headway on my to do list.
Found an excellent bargain on an item I wanted to give for Christmas. Not only was it on sale for less than advertised, when we went to get it, we were handed an invitation to bring with us and come back after hours( family and friends invite) and receive an additional 15% off anything in the store. They even put our item on hold for us! Thank you Universe for supplying.
I'm thinking that shopping online is a great way to shop, not only does it save me time, but I don't overspend cause I'm not seeing other things that I really hadn't planned on purchasing. (And yes, I am careful of the sites I go to)
A busy week ahead at work, the time should go by quickly with everything I have to get done.
It's also payday week! Woo hoo, hope to get all my buying completed.

We put our tree up yesterday and began decorating it. Saturday Joan and I helped with a Breakfast With Santa. I was motivated by all the energy those five year old kids had. I agree with you, shopping on line has it benefits, to me it helps me retain my good humor by not having to fight all the crowds. Report Inappropriate Comment

Wanda, you put me to shame. I had hoped to bake at least one kind of cookie this weekend, but have no place to freeze them. Usually I put them on the closed-in porch, but we are having unusually warm weather so I don't trust them to last until Christmas. Hopefully I will get to make some this Sunday. I sure miss taking the week prior to Christmas as vacation. My shopping is done! Yea! Only buy 4 gifts - 3 gifts for John's cousins' Christmas celebration and my secret Santa at work. Plan is to wrap them this evening...then that will be done...and maybe begin writing Christmas cards in the evenings - unless I unexpectedly have to work late. Enjoy your Monday! Hugs and love.
