A successful and busy weekend.

Monday, December 05, 2011

I woke up on Saturday morning filled with motivation and I put it to good use. Stayed away from things that would distract me (the computer) and as a result, I accomplished plenty.
Made good in-roads into the Christmas baking, tackled making fudge and learned that it's best to line the pan first, so much easier to get the fudge out still looking nice, got items for two people on my Christmas list completed, and two birthday presents purchased. Yay! Now I just have to keep the motivation going and keep the distractions to a minimum and I will be done in no time. (I even got snow shoveling worked into my day on Saturday, thankfully none since *grin*)

My Positives:
I can head out to work this morning feeling like I've made headway on my to do list.
Found an excellent bargain on an item I wanted to give for Christmas. Not only was it on sale for less than advertised, when we went to get it, we were handed an invitation to bring with us and come back after hours( family and friends invite) and receive an additional 15% off anything in the store. They even put our item on hold for us! Thank you Universe for supplying.
I'm thinking that shopping online is a great way to shop, not only does it save me time, but I don't overspend cause I'm not seeing other things that I really hadn't planned on purchasing. (And yes, I am careful of the sites I go to)
A busy week ahead at work, the time should go by quickly with everything I have to get done.
It's also payday week! Woo hoo, hope to get all my buying completed.

Have a wonderful Monday. Find your motivation and follow it.

We put our tree up yesterday and began decorating it. Saturday Joan and I helped with a Breakfast With Santa. I was motivated by all the energy those five year old kids had. I agree with you, shopping on line has it benefits, to me it helps me retain my good humor by not having to fight all the crowds.

Wanda, you put me to shame. I had hoped to bake at least one kind of cookie this weekend, but have no place to freeze them. Usually I put them on the closed-in porch, but we are having unusually warm weather so I don't trust them to last until Christmas. Hopefully I will get to make some this Sunday. I sure miss taking the week prior to Christmas as vacation.

My shopping is done! Yea! Only buy 4 gifts - 3 gifts for John's cousins' Christmas celebration and my secret Santa at work. Plan is to wrap them this evening...then that will be done...and maybe begin writing Christmas cards in the evenings - unless I unexpectedly have to work late.

Enjoy your Monday! Hugs and love.

December 4

Sunday, December 04, 2011

I had the motivation bug yesterday for tackling some baking. Decided that the only way I was going to keep the bug active was to stay away from my computer as much as possible. It is so easy to get caught up with emails, chats etc. I allowed myself to retrieve my recipes and make a quick hello to my team.

A very successful day in the kitchen. 4 loaves of cream cheese banana bread, 2 loaves of cinnamon apple sauce bread, 2 loaves of spicy apple sauce bread and 2 pans of creamy peppermint fudge made. As well as a crock pot of chili for dinner.
I did discover that I should have lined my fudge pans with either tin foil or waxy paper. It certainly would have made removing the fudge much easier! oh well, live and learn.

Today, Garry and I are going to head out to Cabella's to pick up a couple of gifts. Then make the rounds so that I can pick up the gift cards I need to get for our Library Christmas party next Saturday. I volunteered to pick them up and seeing as time is running out, I need to get that done. Then it's back home to work on the stairs and other reno and Christmas projects.

My positives:
I nice chunk of my Christams baking complete.
The fudge turned out fantastic. I have some batches to take to others.
Only had to shovel the driveway and sidewalk twice yesterday. It's stopped snowing again. YAY!
The girls stopped over for a quick visit yesterday.
A phone chat with Quin. He is working out of town for the next few days. Hopefully will be home for his birthday so we can celebrate it with him.
I have some holiday time coming up soon. I will be off work from the Dec. 22 to Jan 03. Yay.
Life...it is good, filled with blessings big and small.

Have a wonderful day, keep on finding your blessings.

And the winter, she is a blowin'

Friday, December 02, 2011

Sometime during the night the winds hits. They are blowing pretty fierce out there. We have plus 2 temperatures right now but have been told they will drop during the day. I actually might have to bring my wind chimes indoors, they are blowing so hard that I'm concerned they might actually blow away!

On the plus side...all this wind should make it easier to lob my snowballs. Look out Estelle and Shirl.

It' our First Fabulous Friday in December. This has been a busy week at work and next week promises to be even crazier. Looking so forward to the end of the work day today. Not that I'm rushing time, but I have so many Christmas projects on the go and I want to get at them. I'm thinking that I might start some family baking this weekend and stick it all in the freezer.

My positives:
It's Fabulous Friday.
I'm looking forward to this month's challenge...a great way to get the Christmas spirit working overtime in my life.
Accomplished my November challenge. Yay Me!
A good night's sleep last night.
Books to read, always a bonus in my life. *grin*
Tentative "girl" time this weekend.
Life...it is so filled with opportunities.

Have a wonderful day,

Hope you get all your plans accomplished this weekend! I am thinking about baking the first batch of cookies on Sunday since I can no longer take the week before Christmas as vacation...

Happy December 2011

Thursday, December 01, 2011

One more month to the year 2011 and then we are looking at a new year. So much of the past couple of months have been spent already working with the date of 2012 that I have to keep reminding myself that we aren't there yet! My job revolves around publication dates and most things that I am acquiring are now working with 2012 or my budgets are moving into 2012 budgets. No wonder my days seem to fly by!
It's a great way though to remind myself that I need to live in the moment, as so much of my focus is on the future. The blessing...I have learned that the past is the past and although certain things are worth remembering...letting go of the past is vital also.

We didn't get the anticipated snowfall during the day yesterday, it moved south of us. YAY for us, not so yay for them. On the other hand, our temperatures are supposed to take a major nosedive by next Tuesday. We will be back down into the minus 26 range. I can deal with that as long as there isn't all that snow to accompany it!

My positives:
A brand new month ahead of me.
This month holds Christmas, my all time favorite time of the year.
December challenge will be posted shortly.
I've managed to hold off on baking, saving me the temptation of wanting to nibble.
Goals are set for December.
Having great role models in my life.

Have a wonderful day, be the blessing you want to be.

Hi Ho Hi Ho, it's off to shovel snow , I go!

Wednesday, November 30, 2011

The predicted snow made it's appearance over night. It appears to have stopped falling this morning, but forecast is calling for more. Exercise time is at hand!

On the plus side...our son is home with is vehicle and with both vehicles (ours and his) parked in the driveway, there is not as much snow to shovel. Of course it will be much easier to shovel when the driveway is empty, but who's complaining. *grin*

This morning and tomorrow morning, I have meetings in the morning at work. I am on the 35th Anniversary committee. We are celebrating 35 years in existance this coming Feb. 14, 2012. We have decided that one of the projects we will be working on is a Memory book. At the moment, Louise and I are going through all the old pictures and sorting them into categories, which we will then go through again and either keep for the book or eliminate. We have a patron who does Creative Memories and has offered to help us make up the book at a very reasonable cost. It's rather interesting to go through the history and learn things I didn't know before joining the staff 10 years ago.

My positives:
Snow to shovel...but really only the sidewalk for now. The vehicles have kept most of it off the driveway.
An interesting project to work on through work.
Mild weather conditions for shoveling snow.
I am blessed with health...as are my family members.
Waking up this morning with a new day ahead of me. Nothing better than knowing you have another day of life!

Have a wonderful and happy day,

Our rain turned to snow last evening, we got about 10", but there is ice under it, so walked very carefully over to the gym this morning, but it was so pretty out, like walking in a winter wonderland. Schools are closed today, so DD got a snow day. Yay for the vehicles keeping the snow off the driveway and less shoveling for you. I wanted to go out to Wal-Mart after the gym but they lost their power so will have to wait till they open to get my baking supplies. Well as soon as Estelle gets snow we can begin our snowball fight, this was a very wet snow so will be great for packing snowballs. Wow, 35 yrs. of being in business that is great, good luck with putting the book together, that'll probably be very interesting to see. Have a great hump day!
