Time is flying!

Monday, November 14, 2011

We are almost at the mid way point of November already. Only 40 days to Christmas! I am making head way with my Christmas gifts, but I also have several birthday gifts to remember in amongst all the Christmas planning.

We hauled the Christmas tree up and out of storage. It is set up, but as yet no lights on it. Sometime this week, Garry will undertake that task and then the rest of the decorating is on my shoulders. He does the outside, I get to do the inside *grin*

It's a balmy minus 2 out this morning. No more snow until Thursday. The roads will be hazardous though with these types of temperatures and the bit of snow that we have. Makes me glad that when I head to work in the mornings, most people are still in bed! (Means they aren't on the highways)

My positives:

All the carpet is off the stairs to the family room now. We can begin getting the maple installed.
I'm getting into a routine with my indoor exercising once again.
A great weekend of being both busy but relaxing.
The many blessings that come my way each and every day.

Have a great day,

The snow has fallen and the temperatures have dropped.

Sunday, November 13, 2011

Although we only got a dusting of snow to add to what fell the day before, the temperatures have dropped to the point that the snow is not leaving any time soon!

Yesterday saw Garry and I heading out to the Costco store as soon as they opened. Yay, I have stocked up now on some Christmas baking supplies and a few other staples.

I am planning on making many of my gifts this year, so having the supplies on hand to get started is great. I also headed out to check on beading/jewellery making classes for Kaeli for a Christmas present. She is branching into making some of her own jewellery and really enjoying it. As she has mentioned wanting to take some classes at the local store...I figured it would make a great Christmas or birthday gift for her.

Shyra came over to spend the evening and ended up spending the night with us last night. She had been at the Canadian Finals rodeo during the day and decided spending time in the evening with Mom and Dad was a great idea too. We had lots of laughs and late night. I just got back from running her home.

My positives:

My awesome children.
Garry has made a start on tearing out the carpet from the stairs. We bought the new maple steps and risers yesterday and are looking forward to having stairs that are really easy to keep clean.
The Christmas lights look great at night, which in our case is basically 4pm to 8am the next day! We noticed that many neighbors took advantage of the warm weather to get their lights up and the neighborhood looks great at night.
It's almost time to bring out all the inside decorations and begin decorating for Christmas. I try to hold off until the end of November, but for some reason it seems hard to do this year...I have the Christmas bug!

Have a wonderful day, remember that you are worth the effort of living healthy.

and the snow it is a falling!

It's a white world outside this morning and it appears that it is going to be even whiter as the day progresses. It's really coming down out there! Winter has officially arrived!

We had such a great day yesterday. A perfect day for Remembrance Services and for putting up the Christmas lights. Garry will be so pleased with himself when he gets up this morning to knowing that he actually beat the cold and snow with getting his lights all in place yesterday.

Today, I am hoping to hit the Costco store and stock up on some supplies for baking and make -ahead meals. I discovered a great little idea on Pinterest the other day that I want to do up for Christmas. I need to purchase some half pint mason jars. You then line them with pastry crust, fill them with pie filling, put a pastry (vented) cover over the pie filling, seal them up and freeze them. Then when you want a little mini pie, you take out of the freezer and pop into the oven to bake for 55/60 minutes frozen, or 45 if thawed. You can cook them right in the jars. Love the idea and have some people on my Christmas list that this would be a great gift for! What a great gift idea.

Seriously...www.pinterest.com is my favorite go to site for all sorts of ideas for DIY projects. So many great and inexpensive ideas for stretching the budget. I highly recommend the site to everyone. ( Shirl...I know you have discovered it's many delights already *grin*).

My Positives:

All the Christmas lights are up and working...and before the snow started falling.
A lovely day yesterday to accomplish some last minute outdoor things.
As much as snow is not my favorite thing...it really does look pretty out there at the moment.
Pinterest.com.....what a blessing this site has been to me for finding creative ideas for gift giving as well as personal use.
It's the perfect day for making potato soup in the crock pot.
Blessed to have a nice warm home to live in, food on the table and comfy bed for sleeping in.

Have a wonderful day. As the cold and snow begins to fall, take some time to think of how you might be able to help those that are less fortunate than yourself.

The snow finally found you, huh, sorry but glad it's you and not me yet, lol. I have not had the time lately to get on printerest lately, there are some marvelous ideas on there, that's for sure, it is a great site. We had a really nice time at our stack'n stamp today. I made 2 batches of potato soup and put in my crock pot to keep warm till we were ready to eat. It's been a busy day and I am tired but a good tired. Good for Garry getting the lights up and being ahead of the snow and cold, that should make him happy. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Yes, all past and present military people need to be remembered and thanked. Our Applebee's is serving free meals to all veteran's and current military people today, I took DH there for lunch today, what a nice way to honor them and all they've done and do. Enjoy your weekend.

Amen to that. We need to honor them, AND their families, for the everyday sacrifices they have and do make. Thank you.

November 10

Seems like the rain/snow that was anticipated last night, bypassed us. Yay, one more day without the stuff.

Tomorrow is Remembrance day in Canada, I believe it's called Veterans Day in the states?

We are blessed as a nation of have dedicated men and women who willing serve our nation to ensure our freedoms. Please take the time to honor those who serve, those who lost their lives serving, those who served who have since passed on. They deserve our respect and caring.

This is one of the reasons I care...my cousin Lee (one of many in our family)

I would have put one of my Dad up here also, but realized that I didn't have the one I wanted loaded on my computer.

My positives:

Freedom to choose how I live my life.
No snow!
Family and friends.
Last work day this week.
Lunch date with my girls tomorrow.
A great "text" chat with Afton last evening (our son's girlfriend)
More renos underway, tearing out some more carpet this weekend. Woo Hoo!

Have a wonderful day,
