Minus three this morning!

Tuesday, October 25, 2011

It's on the frosty side this morning...a lovely minus three this morning. It is time to haul the winter jackets out of the closet!

Yesterday's workshop was really good. The workshop was called "Juggling Elephants". It was all about being the ringmaster of our own lives and how we handle stresses in all areas. Very good, very informative. Much of the information was known, just a great reminder.

I'm running behind schedule this morning. I woke up at 3am and turned over to go back to sleep as I don't have to be up until 4:30. Next time I looked at the clock it was 4:43am. I rarely use the alarm on my clock as I hate waking up to a jarring sound. My body usually wakes up naturally...this morning it decided to hit the snooze button!

My positives:

Although we are now experiencing the lovely minus temperatures, we still have no snow. There has been snow around us, but none here yet.
Great workshop yesterday,
One more workshop today along the same theme as yesterdays.
Payday tomorrow.
I remembered to take things out of the freezer that I need to cook for supper tonight!
It is a new day and I plan on being my own ringmaster!

Have a wonderful day....want to join me at the circus of life. We can be ringmasters together.

Hugs,
Wanda

Sounds like the workshop was good. Hope today's was just as informative. We might have thunderstorms tonight. Didn't get any carpet cleaning done today, but did go through a lot of my recipes, so some of my stacks have gotten littler. Hey, tomorrow is hump day and Friday is getting closer.

Hugs,
Shirl

I have a lovely mental image of you standing there, juggling elephants! :-)
Quite a feat! LOL
These workshops can be good fun as well as food for thought, and this one sounded like a lot of fun. :-)
Enjo your day.

Heading into the last week of October and going to make it a good one.

Monday, October 24, 2011

This is going to be a good week. A good week of being accountable, of keeping to a healthy pattern, of keeping a positive attitude. (My affirmations for this week)

This will be a different week as I have a three hour workshop this morning at work. I have another workshop tomorrow afternoon, meetings and a flu shot to round out my week. Tis the season for flu shots. We are blessed that our employers provide the flu shots for anyone that wants to have one. I started getting them about ten years ago now, when my Mom was still alive. I didn't want to take the chance of carrying the flu into a care facility and I've just continued to get them every year since her passing. Do they make a difference, I don't know, but on the other hand I've not been sick!

My positives:

Baseboards are all done in the LR/DR and Garry has started on the stairwell to the family room and the family room now. New molding around the main door and it looks great too.
No snow here yet, although Q was in Ft. McMurray this weekend and said there was snow there as well as part way on the drive home. It's coming!
Ordered a couple of Christmas gifts online yesterday. I'm excited about them and looking forward to the smiles on Christmas morning. I love finding unique things on line and especially when they are inexpensive to boot.
Blessed with a hubby who spends his time off from his work, working at home on projects.
Friends, family and people that go out of their way to be positive.

Have a great Monday, state your positive affirmations and watch your world meet those expectations.

Hugs,
Wanda

Serenity Sunday

Sunday, October 23, 2011

On the cool side in the house again this morning. The furnace wasn't kicking in during the night, which meant frosty getting up this morning. We at least finally figured out why it was happening. There is a panel on the front of the furnace that also acts as a connection point for the heat to kick in. When the temp drops the furnace senses that and kicks in, but for some reason it kicks in so hard that it pushes the connection (the panel) out of place and then it quits because the connection is lost. Not sure why it is doing that, but thank you Lord for the invention of duct tape! Now we can duct tape the panel in place and this shouldn't happen anymore. Yay for a warm house.

Had a lovely phone chat with my brother last night. They are in the middle of having their new modular home put in place on their acreage and are very excited about finally having a home that is liveable and before winter sets in with all the snow. I'm so happy for them, can't wait to make a trip to see them and their new home.

I'm reading a very thought provoking book called "My life, Deleted: a memoir" by Scott Bolzan. It's about Scott, who takes a fall, hits his head and suffers from severe amnesia, and how he puts his life back together with meaning. Makes you think about how you would cope if suddenly everything you knew was wiped out and you had to start over with a blank slate. Words with no meaning or relationship to you, people, earning a living , what things are...how would you help to explain concepts to someone that had no understanding. Very good book, very thought provoking. A book I would recommend. I must go in and add it to my Goodreads account.

My positives:

Finally figured out why the furnace keeps shutting down. Yay for duct tape as a solution.
Thought provoking books to read that make me re-evaluate things.
Wonderful chat with my brother. So happy for them as they get their new home.
No snow!
Found a new pair of pants on sale 50% off yesterday...woo hoo! also a great 3/4 length sleeve sweater(on sale). I need sweaters for work, but hate long sleeves as unless the cuffs are tight, they get in the way while I'm working on the computer all day.
An interesting week ahead at work...I have two workshops to attend, a meeting and also my (company supplied) seasonal flu shot. Somewhere in the mix I also have my usual work to get done.
How blessed our family is.

Have a wonderful day, saying thank you has the biggest impact on your day...try it!

Hugs,
Wanda

Good job of figuring what was going on with the furnace so things stay nice and comfy in your home. Congrats to your brother and family on the new home and being able to get settled in before the bad weather begins. It's been a lovely weekend and I am feeling good and ready to face this new week. I sort of think I am getting the jest of things on printerest, there are so many things to look at and so many great ideas. It sounds like you are going to have a pretty busy week. Hey, new pants and a sweater and good deals too, those are good things. Well enjoy your Sunday evening.

Hugs,
Shirl

Did your phone come with a mini usb to usb cable? In theory, somewhere on your phone there is a mini usb slot, and the cable will allow you to connect the phone to your computer via a normal sized usb slot. I so hope I'm making sense to you. I'm not the most technologically adept person in the world. :-)

Glad you have found a solution to the furnace issue. :-) Duct tape, I suspect, is the singular most useful invention ever created. LOL

A lazy start to my Saturday

Saturday, October 22, 2011

I slept in until 8am this morning, something I rarely do. We had a late night last night with the girls coming over for a visit and then Quin coming home even later. It was nice to sit around and chat and make plans for Christmas together.

Nothing much on my agenda today other than the usual household chores and tackling some of my "to do" list.

Got my hair cut nice and short yesterday and then added a couple narrow stripes of hot pink to the front. Looks very nice even if I do say so myself. Something fun. I even was on the ball and made my next appointment for mid December!

My positives:
A great relationship with our children.
Family time.
A hair cut finally and adding a bit of fun to the mix.
Its the weekend.
A nice long sleep in this morning.
The day to myself as Garry has to work.
Stopped at Costco yesterday and picked up some lovely "Honey Crisp" apples. Yum fresh apples, even picked up a flat of nice big pears.

So many blessings, so much gratefulness.

Have a fun filled Saturday.
Hugs,
Wanda

I haven't figured out yet how to upload pictures from my phone! My camera needs recharging and I'm still attempting to locate the charger. Things got shuffled around and shoved together during the flood. Now it's time to relocate things.

Hugs,
Wanda

Woo Hoo it's Friday!

Friday, October 21, 2011

Friday, Friday...how I love this day of the week. It is the end of a work week and the beginning of a weekend. Not many days that can be both ending and beginning. Even Sunday doesn't quite have the same feeling. Technically Sunday is the ending (of the weekend) and the beginning (a new week) on the calendar, but most people consider Monday the first day of the week now...so Sunday has lost it's place! Yep, it's Friday all the way! *grin*

I'm off to take care of the shaggy dog look after work today. I was pleasantly surprised when I phoned for an appointment a couple of days ago, to actually get one so soon. Usually I need to book a couple of weeks in advance. Hair cut day today...a great way to begin the weekend...looking less shaggy!

No major plans for this weekend. I do want to spend some time surfing through "pinterest" to see what more I can gather in ideas for Christmas. I love that there are so many DIY projects pinned to the site that I can repin to my own boards. So many great ideas. Then I need to go through all the ideas and decide what I am going to make for gifts and make a list of supplies I will need. Christmas project time is at hand.

My positives:
No snow!
The opportunity to take a great workshop through work next week. I love the name of the workshop "Juggling elephants". It is a workshop on juggling all the stresses in ones life.
It's Friday and the weekend looms ahead.
Finding some great and inexpensive Christmas ideas.
Getting a haircut today.
A nice visit with Kaeli after work yesterday.
Staying mindful.

Have a fantastic day today...keep on moving towards your goals.

Hugs,
Wanda
