Friday, Friday...how I love this day of the week. It is the end of a work week and the beginning of a weekend. Not many days that can be both ending and beginning. Even Sunday doesn't quite have the same feeling. Technically Sunday is the ending (of the weekend) and the beginning (a new week) on the calendar, but most people consider Monday the first day of the week now...so Sunday has lost it's place! Yep, it's Friday all the way! *grin*

I'm off to take care of the shaggy dog look after work today. I was pleasantly surprised when I phoned for an appointment a couple of days ago, to actually get one so soon. Usually I need to book a couple of weeks in advance. Hair cut day today...a great way to begin the weekend...looking less shaggy!

No major plans for this weekend. I do want to spend some time surfing through "pinterest" to see what more I can gather in ideas for Christmas. I love that there are so many DIY projects pinned to the site that I can repin to my own boards. So many great ideas. Then I need to go through all the ideas and decide what I am going to make for gifts and make a list of supplies I will need. Christmas project time is at hand.

My positives:
No snow!
The opportunity to take a great workshop through work next week. I love the name of the workshop "Juggling elephants". It is a workshop on juggling all the stresses in ones life.
It's Friday and the weekend looms ahead.
Finding some great and inexpensive Christmas ideas.
Getting a haircut today.
A nice visit with Kaeli after work yesterday.
Staying mindful.

Winter is approaching...

Winter is approaching faster than I would like. The furnace is running more frequently, the temperatures at night are dropping to below zero and daytime temperatures are only single digit now. BRRRRR.

Listening to the news last night and hearing about the guy in Ohio that released all his wild animals and then killed himself, really makes you wonder about this crazy world we live in. So sad that all those animals are being killed...I understand why, just not what was going through the guys mind as he released them! What drives a person to act in such an irrational manner. It is so sad when someone feels so completely helpless that they feel they are better off dead. Was there no one this person could turn to for help?
This is a good lesson for all of us. How mindful are we of those around us? Are we doing all we can to listen, to be a helping hand, to reaching out to those around us? Or, are we playing ostrich and hiding our heads in the sand, hoping someone else will deal with things because we are "just" too busy. I'm not saying that people didn't try to help, just that we get so caught up in our own lives that we forget the need to reach out to others and lend a helping hand.

My positives:

Learning to be more mindful each day.
I have friends and family around me that care.
The knowledge that I have the opportunity to learn from all events, to become a better person.
My missing parcel was finally located and I now have it in my possession. YAY.
Another work week is almost done.
No snow as yet.
Guidance in my life that nudges me and prods me to learn and grow.

I can not imagine what goes through one's head in situations like this. I just wish those in charge could have had more daylight time and tranquilized those beautiful animals instead of issuing a shoot to kill. According to our newspaper this morning they were afraid that after shooting them with a tranquilizer, they would still be moving and since it was getting dark they couldn't follow them. Then the effects of the medication would wear off and they would be on the move again. Such a shame when those Bengal tigers are endangered with only about 1400 left in the world and they shot and killed 18 of them. What a waste!! We just never know what's going on in someone's mind, and there arent' always signs that someone is in trouble. Glad you found your missing parcel. You make me shiver when I read your temps, brrrrr! I'm just plugging along and at the end of each day I am evaluating what has worked for me, what I need to change, how my day was emotionally and physically and what I need to continue to work on the next day. This works for me. It helps me to keep mindful of how I am living my life.
I have come to the conclusion that when I ask spirit for guidance and assistance in making healthy choices...they provide it. Because I have not been listening to them in one particular area as well as I should be...they have now created a situation where I "must" listen to the guidance if I want to see the results I am shooting for. The bonus...the same issue has now presented itself in my hubby's life as I have allowed him to be my saboteur in this area. Now both of us are finding that we get severe heart burn from drinking coffee...so ...we have both made the decision that we need to limit strictly Timmies coffee to only an occasional occurrence. I have never been a coffee drinker, but slowly my consumption of this beverage has crept up and up. The bad thing about this...I still really don't enjoy it as much as I have tried to convince myself I do!!! It's addictive and that is my problem. Whether coffee is the problem or whether dairy products are the problem is still up in the air...but we do recognize that it really occurs with the consumption of a Timmies. The other problem...my water consumption has decreased as the coffee consumption increased. That has to change.
Garry and I have made the decision that we will continue to allow Timmies, but only as a treat once a month, and we will adjust it down further if need be. It is not the "having" of a Timmies that is bad...it is the amount we are having.
I'm happy to say that this past weekend...I turned down the offer and I have not indulged. See...I need to take responsibility for my actions ...I allowed my hubby to be my saboteur. Now I take back the responsibility for deciding what I have or don't have. So far this week...my water consumption is back up. YAY.

My positives:
I am choosing healthy choices.
I am working my way back into eating breakfast. Although I have made the decision to take it to work with me as opposed to eating at 4:30 am. I am working on having my breakfast by 6:30 am. Eating at 4:30 am just was not sitting well on my system. Being up for awhile and then eating seems to work much better.
The knowledge that spirit is guiding and assisting me daily.
No snow yet and above average temperatures still prevail for this week.
Life is good and very blessed.

Just in case anyone is wondering...there are 67 days until Christmas and 73 days until the end of 2011!

I find at work that much of my work now involves using the 2012 as part of my date. At times it feels surreal and at other times I have to remind myself that this is still 2011.

This past year has zipped by and I know that my progress in many areas has taken a back seat to all the busyness of getting through each day. This has been a year of many changes and adaptations, both in work and at home. I need to reset my priorities and take the steps necessary for reaching my goals.

My Positives:
I have survived the busy schedule of the last few months, not necessarily intact, but I have survived.
I have friends and family that support and encourage me.
God has blessed and continues to bless this family in multiply ways, for that, I am extremely grateful.
My choices lean far more to the good side than the negative.
I am growing ever more mindful in all aspects of my life.

My affirmations:

I am blessed.
I am a spiritual being having a human experience.
I am mindful of my actions and words.
I am mindful of my health and taking the steps necessary to obtain optimum health.
I choose to be positive.

Monday Monday....

I missed getting on yesterday. I made a start and then got interrupted and busy and never got back! On the other hand, we did get a lot done yesterday.
The new flooring is installed in the basement, but somehow when they were doing the installation, they put out the furnace. We discovered that yesterday morning as we got up to very cold temperatures in the house! Just glad that it wasn't colder outside!
With the flooring all done, the moving of things back to the basement began. Still some things to move, but most is done now. Even got a great start on the baseboards for the LR/DR. We had to go an get more, which meant more painting and watching paint dry...but it's almost done and looking great. Now to get the pictures hung back on the walls and curtains and we are done those rooms.

My Positives:
A great Saturday spent with Kaeli. We checked out the Crate and Barrel store (she hadn't been there yet) and then a couple of other houseware stores. Finally found a marble rolling pin. I used to have one years ago, but it got broken. We found two at a great price and snapped up both of them.
Found some great DIY projects on my new favorite website www.pinterest.com
I have some great new inexpensive ideas for Christmas gifts to work on now. Woot, Woot!
Busy day ahead of me at work...I like busy.
A hubby who spends his days off doing handyman things around the house. So blessed.
Friends, family....we may not see each often, but we always are in touch.

I do like that site, but just haven't had a lot of time to explore much yet, but I will, just the little I was on I saw a couple really neat things to make that I'd like to try, I need to explore more and try and figure out what I am doing or need to do about the pinning and the boards. Sounds like you had a busy but very productive weekend, good job on finding those rolling pins, my mom use to call them husband tamers, I have her big wooden one, once in a while I'll wave at Clenton and say remember what mom called this and he just laughs, I am blessed with a good hubby along with you, how'd we get so lucky.
