Thursday...yay only 2 more work days!

Thursday, October 13, 2011

What a nice short week this has been, it's already Thursday. Yesterday was a long day. I had to attend a meeting that really ran me into overtime. I am part of the committee that is planning for our library's 35th anniversary in Feb 2012. It appears that we will be meeting every couple of weeks from now until then. At least the next meeting is scheduled during my actual working hours, so that makes me happy. A productive meeting yesterday though, so it was worth the overtime hours. We have a department monthly meeting this morning. Our department meetings are usually short and quick.

It rained hard during the night and is supposed to be rainy today. On the plus side...it is good for the ground to get a nice soaking rain before winter. It is rain rather than snow, and due to the overcast skies...the weather stayed on the plus side of zero! Yay.

Not much happening other than the usual day to day living in my life. Pretty ho-hum at the moment...but I've learned to appreciate these moments in time as they never seem to last for long *grin* This weekend, my goal is to get the computer room all organized again, and then make a start on some of my crafts. The new flooring is being installed this Saturday in the basement, which means that all the stuff that is stored in my computer room will find it's way back down to it's home in the basement. It's been a long while waiting for this moment. Yay, the floor is finally all dry and no more musty smell down there.

My positives:
A lovely soaking rain to give things a good drink before winter makes it's appearance.
New flooring finally being installed this Saturday in the basement.
I will have time to get my computer room all organized once again.
I am healthy as is my family.
Sharing a vehicle has been working out pretty well. It has been saving us money...which is the lovely bonus side of those inconvenient times.
Short work week and its almost over.
So blessed and so grateful for all the blessings.

Have a wonderful day. Remember that you are a blessing to those around you and that your attitude can cause a ripple effect far beyond what you know.

Hugs,
Wanda

Sleep...must have needed it last night!

Wednesday, October 12, 2011

Boy, I must have needed my sleep last night. I slept in about 20 minutes longer than usual, which means I am running this morning.

Just a quick hello this morning. I have a busy day ahead of me. A longer day at work due to a meeting that I must attend and that is being held after my usual head home hours. Oh well, more banked time.

Our temperatures have now hit the below zero mark at night. Snow is not that far off. We are supposed to get rain for the next couple of days, but it won't surprise me to see that it turns to snow over the nighttime.

My positives:

Sleep...it didn't want to have to get up yet even...such a good sleep, I wanted to savor it *grin*
A short work week...and it's payday today.
Two problems sorted out at work yesterday; satisfaction has been achieved.
Got my stairs in a work yesterday and working towards more again today.
Quin got his truck yesterday, yay for him. Now he heads out to work today. I'm always happy when things come together for my kids.
We are so blessed.

Have a wonderful and successful day.

Hugs,
Wanda

Thanksgiving is over and now it's on to Remembrance Day...

Tuesday, October 11, 2011

Thanksgiving is over for another year, not that it means we shouldn't still incorporate "thanks giving" into each of our days, but the celebration weekend is past. Now we are heading towards Remembrance Day on November 11 and then on to American Thanksgiving and the Big one ...Christmas. Such a busy time of year for many of us.
In our family we have the added bonus of multiple birthdays over the next few weeks. Today being my next brother's birthday...Happy Birthday Layne.

It's back to work after a busy weekend of family time and getting some tasks accomplished off the "to do" list. It's full speed ahead now at work attempting to get all our budgets spent before year end. Not as easy as it might appear, as many of the materials that our selectors are now choosing are publication dates for 2012, which means they won't arrive this year, which equates to the money isn't spent from this year's budget! The juggling that happens between now and year end is very challenging...but to be honest rather fun too!

My positives:

A wonderful four day weekend that allowed me/us to get many "to do's" accomplished. The deck is all cleared and the furniture stored for the winter.
Great family time.
My next oldest brother's birthday today.
A lovely crockpot of soup will be waiting for me when I get home from work today.
Payday tomorrow...yay!
Goal from last week has been successfully met.
One more Christmas gift has been purchased.
So blessed and so grateful for all the blessings.

Have a great and wonderful day,
Hugs,
Wanda

The big dinner is over for another few weeks...

Monday, October 10, 2011

We celebrated Thanksgiving dinner yesterday and had a wonderful time. Lots of veggies and low-cal items on the table. The girls brought over some "Twice cooked" baked potatoes that were very yummy. That was my big indulgence, the rest was very low in calories. Fresh baked carrots and onions, salads and no dressing!

Shyra's boyfriend came to join us also, which was very nice. We all headed outdoors to sit around the new firepit that we still hadn't christened. Garry and Quin kept the fire going and we eventually had to bundle up as the temperatures dropped, but stayed out there until about 11pm. It was so nice to sit around the fire. Quin brought out his guitar and did a bit of strumming. A very blessed and wonderful family time.

My positives:
The girls are coming over again today to help eat up the left-overs.
A wonderful evening of family time last night, and a great Thanksgiving.
It's a holiday Monday today, so that means a short work week.
So blessed with family and friends.

Have a wonderful Monday,
Hugs,
Wanda

Wow - sitting around the fire outdoors - life is good!

And leftovers are as good - if not sometimes even better than the original meal (after having slaved and stressed) ... what a wonderful weekend of anticipating the gathering , then actually enjoying your meal, tonight's meal again with family and then a short workweek!

I can almost see your smile!
