Being mindful...helps!

I stepped up and decided to implement one of my goals this month a bit early. I decided that I was going to be mindful each day and ensure that I do the stairs at work a min. of 2x daily (that both up and down). Off to a good start yesterday. Now let's remember to mindful today about the stairs. This means I need to get up from my desk and deliberately head down stairs and back up again. Great way to remind myself also that I need to take my breaks.

My positives:
A pretty good sleep last night, only woke up twice during the night.
Another busy day at work ahead...makes the day go so much faster.
Although temperatures are at the freezing point during the night...there is as yet no snow!
My counters are now looking much tidier...I'm down to about 3/4 of a container of ripening tomatoes...the ripes ones are now going into the freezer for use down the line.
Connected with a couple more relatives on facebook yesterday. I love that I can make these reconnections.
Thanksgiving is coming up and looking forward to my children all being here to celebrate with us.
A nice 4 day weekend to look forward to.
So many blessings, so grateful.

This month is all ready going by to quick, how can next week be the middle of Oct. holy moly! Tis the holiday season for sure, you start off early with your Thanksgiving and we get it going with Halloween, but oh what fun! Love clean counter tops. Congratulations on stepping it up. It feels good when that just happens and we realize we're on target ahead of time. When it fits into our days seamlessly it's a huge coup - this is a recent discovery for me. I think I used to think it had to be compartmentalized as formally scheduled exercise time not functional daily routine-type changes I could make. I drove my car to the studio the other day after the temperature dropped close to zero thinking I was going to be moving things to a nearby storage unit and really missed my walk for the day - I have found my warm coat, hat & gloves and will be walking today again! phew! That is great Wanda. One challenge I am in is doing 36 stairs on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. I am definitely able to do that this week at work and I've already done the 36 for today :) Now, being on holidays, it may prove harder. Have a great day!!!! Report Inappropriate Comment

Monday's, I really need to get a better perspective on Monday's. Let's see if I can do it.
1. It's a beginning of a new week.
2. It's just a day like any other day, it just happens to be the first day of my work week.
3. It's a new day and filled with possibilities.
4. It's Aunt Agnes's birthday today.
5. Although it's cold outside, there is no snow as yet.
6. Household chores are all done, so I can relax when I get home from work.

Okay...I'm doing better *grin*
Oh yeah...I logged on this morning to see that there is a post from Divegoddess, whom I haven't heard from in a long time.

Birthday celebrations on the weekend were fun. Kaeli made a Red Velvet Cake for Afton's birthday. Had my first piece of of Red Velvet cake...I'm thinking that it will possibly be my last. Although the cake was very nice, I don't think all the red food dye agreed with me. Had a rough night last night with severe heartburn and a headache. I'm cautiously facing the day today.

My positives:
I have a new day ahead of me to be creative in.
Aunt Agnes's birthday (Garry's Dad last remaining sibling). Hope to reach her by phone today and have a chat with her.
By being mindful of what I eat and drink today, I am hopeful that by the end of the day to be feeling better.
I have friends and family that support me and encourage me.
A nice warm bed, a roof over my head and transportation to get me to and from work. Yep...even got food on the table.
So blessed.

Maybe someday someone will invent a red food dye using beet juice - sounds like a viable possibility don't you think! I wonder if it could just be substitute as part of the liquid? Thanks for the blog visit and comments on how the painting is coming along ... it's taking a little longer (day-wise not hour-wise) than I thought it would because I am having to be very careful to now smudge or spill paint or colour outside the lines - which has resulted in procrastination BIG TIME! No diving right in without getting all Zen prior to working. In other words, I'm working less hours in a day ... I'll have to take a page out of your book - so to speak - and give myself the Monday pep talk now ... (make that the October & Monday pep talk). Have a productive and healthy week. You did good with those Monday positives. Hope you do get feeling better by the end of the day, drink lots of water to flush out your system. Jim, the guy who just celebrated his 40th birthday here, he can't have anything with red dye in it, it would send him to the hospital. Yesterday was my oldest brother's birthday, today is Afton and Doug's birthdays and tomorrow is Aunt Agnes's birthday. Okay 4 down, 2 more to go, oops 3 more to go as we have Nancy Jane's birthday this month too!

Kaeli stopped over yesterday to borrow a cake pan from me as she wanted to make a Red Velvet cake for Afton for her birthday. We ended up having a great long visit.
I got some tomato sauce processed and am down to only one container of ripening tomatoes on my counter top now. I did put a large bag of ripe ones into the freezer for later use. I will put the ones that I'm waiting to ripen into the freezer also when they are ready. Got all my canning stuff cleaned and stored now in the cold storage room, ready for the next round of canning. My kitchen looks like a new place with all the stuff put away! YAY!
I have greatly enjoyed the canning from this year and am now looking forward to finding the next great bargain of fresh fruit or veggies at the store and processing some more, perhaps even freezing it for pies or whatever. Knowing that I have all the means of preserving bulk purchases now is such a freeing feeling.

Garry called his sister last night to issue her an invitation to spend Christmas with us. We are hoping that she will come. We have told Garry's Mom that we will come and get her and bring her to our place for Christmas also. We are hoping that she will come. She is still processing being a widow and committing to anything at the moment is still an ongoing process for her.

My Positives:
This season's canning is completely and my shelves are looking very nice!
I've put the need for an upright freezer out into the Universe and now I will see what results.
Short work week, I have this coming Friday off as my overtime day, then I realized yesterday that it means I will have a 4 day weekend as I forgot that the 10th is Thanksgiving and a holiday! WOOOT,WOOOT.
The kids will all be coming over for Thanksgiving dinner.
Family, friends and spiritual guidance...how incredibly blessed we all are.

We'll have to get you drying foods next! I just made a whole lot of dried zucchini chips ... cut them on the mandolin quite thick and placed them in the dehydrator and voila ... healthy chips for dipping in yogourt tzatziki! Tomatoes sliced and lightly salted and dried then stored in olive oil (which is later used on salads) is a wonderful way to have garden tomatoes at Christmas ... over goats cheese with basil leaves on bread too. Have I sold you yet? I think you can dry foods in your oven as well though I haven't done that. I have roasted tomatoes with herbs and garlic and then frozen them in baggies for quick pasta dishes. Beginning a new month...oh the possibilities!

I love the first day of a new month. The possibilities that lie ahead are limitless.
My goal for today...get my new weekly goals down in writing so that I have constant reminders of what I am working towards.

Today is my eldest brother, Del's birthday, tomorrow is Q's girlfriends Afton's birthday, October 3rd is Aunt Agnes's birthday, Oct. 9 is my cousin Paige's birthday and then October 11 is my other brother Layne's birthday. Lots of birthdays and lots of reasons to be grateful.

I need to haul all the tomatoes out of the freezer today and let them thaw so that I can make some sauce...but then again, they are in the freezer and not going anywhere...hmmmmm! *grin*.

My positives:
A new month and a new set of goals.
Birthday reminders of why I am grateful for these individuals in my life.
It's a weekend.
Bills are all paid...at least any that we have received to date. Love that feeling of knowing that you do not owe anyone.
Friends, family and spiritual guidance in my life. So blessed.

Have a wonderful weekend. Take the time to smile, laugh and enjoy being alive.

Wrapping up September

September 30th...fall is in the air and so are all the blustery winds! This is definitely no "good hair-do" weather! Step out the door and you are libel to be blown away! When I'm not going to work and need to look presentable...I love this weather. Nothing like a good strong wind to clear the cobwebs.

One more big batch of tomatoes are ready for the freezer today. Tomorrow, I will haul all of them out again and begin making tomato sauce. I need to finish off moving things around in my LR/DR and accomplishing my goal for this week also.

My positives:
Although the winds are blowing strongly, I don't mind them, they blow all the leaves out of my yard *grin*
Canning season is almost complete, a bit behind schedule, but that is okay as I look as all the results of canning and gardening.
A new month tomorrow.
Countdown starts tomorrow (for me) for Christmas. I have projects that need to be started and completed.
Blessed to have my children so close. Not only are they close in their relationships with each other, they think "the parents" are worth spending time with also.
It's Fabulous Friday, end of the work week and beginning of a couple of "my schedule" days.

Have a wonderful day, enjoy and be open to all the opportunities that present themselves to you today.
