I love to lie in bed at night and mentally review my day. It always amazes me the number of blessings that have filled my day. They always outnumber any negatives.
Yesterday was filled with so many little blessings that by the end of the day I could truly say...What a blessed day!
Shyra called me bright and early to see if I was still on for a day of being together and tackling West Edmonton Mall. We had such a great day together. It is so much fun to go shopping with her, as we shop the same way. We wander into a store and if something catches our eye, we stop and look and if nothing jumps out at us we leave. It works great for us and we usually find whatever we are looking for while shopping this way. No wasted time, just allowing what is meant for us to be brought to our attention. *grin*. And Yes, there were things brought to our attention. Shyra did find the items that she had been looking for and looked wonderful in all of them. I found some books and a possible curtain for my DR windows...no dragonflies on it, but the colors were a good possibility. The books are keepers and then will get donated to our Bookmobile for their circulation. The curtain (I only bought one panel, just to see) doesn't work for the area as it blocks out too much light. I can return it and it has confirmed that sheers are definitely what we need for that area. Not a lost cause.
Garry in our absence was able to get the maple wood counter top all finished for the new built in. It looks great, now we are just determining what shade to stain it. We have a couple of samples going on some left over pieces and will decide today the final choice. We will make a final choice today on the back splash also.
Then we need to decide on the hardware for the cupboards. It's almost finished, thanks to all the hard work Garry has put into it.
We have found a great way of recycling the old wine cabinet that sits in the family room. It is a lovely (but very heavy) solid wood cabinet that we use as an end table right now. Garry is going to take it and removed the wine racks and glass holders, build in shelves and also sand it down, paint it and we will use it in the DR in the small alcove between the two windows in the DR area as a buffet. I will now have a place to store all my Christmas dishes and fancy serving dishes. It is the perfect size for area and a much needed useage. I'm excited because we don't have to go out and attempt to buy what we need, and we get to re-purpose something that we already have.
I now have SKYPE installed on my computer and have been able to chat with our son up north much easier. Still trying to figure out all the ins and outs of the program, but it's great so far.
I see more color in my garden...the tomatoes are ripening. I should be able to get them preserved in salsa, tomato sauce and canned tomatoes very soon. My garden has supplied us with wonderfully fresh veggies this summer and will provide us with bounty for this winter also. I'm amazed at myself at how much I have been enjoying the gardening.
Growing potatoes in the pots has been so successful...anyone can do it! It's so nice to walk out to my potato pots and dig out some fresh potatoes for a meal. I'm hoping to plant a couple of varieties next year. I might even attempt to grow one pot in the house this winter to see if it's possible..
It's a beautiful sunny day this morning and the predication is for a very nice warm and sunny week. Yay....I can enjoy my back deck for longer!
Have a blessed and wonderful Sunday.
