Moving right along...

Wednesday, August 24, 2011

Yay, it's mid way through the work week and day 3 of my second week of eating plan. It's funny how much I miss my fruit on the days that I can't have it.

Got my sweet pickles made yesterday, pulled some carrots and cucumbers from the garden to take to work with me for a snack today. Nothing like fresh carrots right from the garden.

Had a better sleep last night as it was cooler, still feel like I would love to crawl back in under the covers, but alas...work calls my name.

My positives:
A better sleep last night.
More canning accomplished. My shelves are looking so nice filled with all that preserving.
One nice red ripe tomato made it's appearance yesterday in the garden...means there are more to come...bring on the sunshine.
Food on my table and love in my home.
The strength and determination to honor my body.

Have a wonderful day, thanks for stopping by.
Hugs,
Wanda

Determination

Tuesday, August 23, 2011

Determination and choice, two excellent words that when you apply them in your life will get you to where you want to go.

I'm now through Day 1 of the second week of my eating plan. Has it been easy? Not always, but by determining that I will and can do it, I am making it through each day. By setting my goal of "one day at a time", the end result is not so unachievable. Today, it's onward into Day 2 of the second week.

I did not get my pickles made yesterday as I decided to make a different sweet mixed pickle recipes which called for doing things a bit differently than I had already planned....no problem, I can now do them when I get home today after work. I might even get some of my carrots pulled from the garden and get them pickled also. While out checking on my garden yesterday, I noticed that a couple of my tomatoes are now starting to show some red color. YAY. I'm thinking that by the end of this week, I will be busy canning some of tomato recipes.

My positives:

Friends, who keep me encouraged and offer support, what a blessing and God's timing is always perfect.
Heat and sunshine this week to help my garden flourish.
Having the ability to preserve the harvest from my garden.
Blessed with the ability to read and enjoy the books available to me through my library.
Knowing love.
A new day to be creative in and to make wise choices, to learn from the challenges that might come my way.
A husband who is a blessing.

Have a wonderful day, keep on choosing to be a success and determining your own path.

Hugs,
Wanda

Keep up the good work. I'm back from my travels. This morning I have my sub refresher course and then the school year gets underway for me. James started back to classes yesterday. It won't be long until we get into that school time rhythm once again. I too, am making the choice to focus my determination in the weight elimination area. Time for a big push for me.
Have a successful Tuesday.
Love,
Nancy

A new day and a new week.

Monday, August 22, 2011

I had a successful week last week with regards to eating and eliminating some weight. Let's see if this week will be the same!

It's the beginning of harvest time from my garden (and from Farmer's Market). I got the first batch of pickles done yesterday and another batch needs to be done after work today. All dills/garlic yesterday, and today will be a mix of dill/garlic and sweet mixed.

The girls came over yesterday afternoon to enjoy some sun shine on our back deck. They ended up staying for supper and Dad did the BBQing. We had fresh potatoes from the garden as well as fresh carrots. My carrots are just the right size for pickling, so will need to get some of those done also.

I had a very successful week last week with the new eating plan, that I've decided to give it another go this week, but with a few tweeks that I hope won't change the outcome. I'm not a meat eater by choice, and eating that much at one time doesn't sit well with me, so I'm going to try and modify it a bit to include the protein, but in a form I can digest. Even using veggie "meat" products is too much meat for me.

My positives:
More canning accomplished...yay, I'm getting there and my shelves are looking good with all the stuff prepared for this winter.
A gorgeous sun shining day yesterday and a great time of visiting with the girls.
More sun shine predicted for this week.
All the blessings that have been flowing my way, big and small. It's the small ones that we tend to overlook, but they are usually the ones that when you take the time to appreciate them are filled with the most blessing.
My children, my hubby and my friends.

Have a wonderful Monday, keep on moving forward.

Hugs,
Wanda

You had a great week, eliminating weight and getting all that canning done. Today is my day 1, so you and I are in sync with our plans, how neat. I've got two bowls of the soup in today, just have one more at supper time. As long as you get enough protein on the 2 meat days you should be fine. I need to get my 3 bananas in the freezer so I'll be ready for my smoothies on day 4, will also have to pick up some skim milk. That was nice your girls could come over and sit and visit and have supper with you and dad. Have a great evening.

Hugs,
Shirl

Canning time again

Sunday, August 21, 2011

Yesterday the girls picked me up and we headed for the Farmers Market in the city. Yay, I got all my pickling cucumbers.
I had planned on pickling them yesterday, but we ended up going to Whyte Ave. having a lovely lunch (I had a salad, so stuck as close as possible to my eating plan) and then we walked around for a couple of hours. The Fringe festival was on, so the girls took in one of the performances, while I sat in the shade and enjoyed people watching.
Once we headed home, it was laziness that set in and I decided to wait until today to start my canning. Now the temperature is supposed to be very hot today, so will probably wait until this evening when things cool down a bit...I'll see how the day progresses.

My positives:

Got 14 pounds of pickling cucumbers, a good start for my pickles. I just might end up going back next week for more, as I have a couple of different recipes I would like to try.
A great day spent with my girls.
I've broken through my plateau...even so some of it might be water weight, I'll happily take the 6 pounds weight elimination. YAY.
It looks like a gorgeous day is in store for us weather wise.
Had a good chat with hubby last even, we are on the same page now on a couple of issues. I love when both of us are willing to compromise and we can reach a mutually please result.
We are going to try to get the rest of the cupboards installed today in the new built in area. It will be so nice to get things organized in them and have my room almost completed. We just have the baseboards and blinds to install once the nook is done. Garry needs a bearing for his chop saw though. That's needed to finish cutting the baseboards.
Life...how incredibly blessed we all are as we wake up each morning and get to celebrate a new day and turn it into a great one!

Have a wonderful Sunday.

Hugs,
Wanda

Wanda I am so very, happy for you and the 6 lbs. gone, woo hoo, and so what if some is water it's still weight. I gained some back this week but am still down 3 lbs. Will start back on the plan tomorrow, have to make the soup in the morning. I know where I went wrong this week so the next time I go off the plan will try a different stratige. It was a lovely day here, very breezy and comfortable. Have a fabulous week.

Hugs,
Shirl

It's the weekend!

Saturday, August 20, 2011

Yay, it's the weekend. My girls are picking me up this morning and we are heading into the city to the Farmer's Market.
I'm hoping the I can pick up some pickling cucumbers so that I can get my pickles done this weekend.
I went to the store last evening to see if they had any, only one store had some, but they must have put them in a cooler that was too cold or they were really old as they were already wrinkled and soft on the edges. Not good for canning.

Pulled some more beets from the garden last evening also. I will freeze these ones for winter use.

Rather overcast out this morning, not sure if it's going to rain or not. Hopefully we will get the sun that has been promised.

My positives:

Made it through Day 5 of my eating plan. I did have some blueberries and a nectarine though, which weren't on the list. But I wasn't really feeling up to anything else for breakfast, and at least they were healthy.
Time with my girls today.
A lovely email from my cousin.
How wonderfully God blesses this family with love and caring.

Have an awesome day, it's Silly Saturday, so remember to smile and be silly.

Hugs,
Wanda
