Continuing to work on busting through my plateau.

Thursday, August 18, 2011

I started a new eating plan three days ago and am now entering day four. I'm doing good and feeling good. I will weigh myself at the end of the week and see if I've managed at last to break through this plateau that I've been stuck on for ever. I feel like I have at least shifted things around, if not eliminated some as my clothes are fitting a little differently. Perhaps that wishful thinking, but even wishes come true in their time. *grin*

I pulled some pickling onions and gathered the few cucumbers that managed to be produced in my garden and bought some cauliflower yesterday. Canning sweet mixed pickles on the agenda for this week. I noticed that more of my beets are ready to be pulled from the garden too. I think I will freeze this batch.

My positives:

Doing well on my new eating plan. Last night is the first time that I cheated on it. We purchased a lovely large box of blueberries and although I was allowed the fruit, I'm thinking that the milk that I had with them was extra. Blueberries just need milk to go with them. I did keep the milk to a minimum, so hopefully didn't mess things up badly.
I'm excited to see the produce from my garden finally at the stage where I am able to harvest some of it. Yummm....fresh carrots.
Had a better sleep last night, woke up with a bit of a crink in my neck...so must have been sleeping hard in a crazy position.
Rain through the night, no need to water the garden manually today.
A hubby, who still willingly, gets up to drive me to work. I have noticed that he is going to bed as early as I do now too!
Being alive...what a blessing.

Have an awesome day. Life is too short to let the little things control you, enjoy being alive.

Hugs,
Wanda

Wanda I am proud of you for sticking with the plan and that little bit of milk won't make a difference, there were a couple times I had to eat some bran bud cereal with skim milk to get things moving and it did not make any difference. Sunday I am going to have to make a batch of the soup as Monday I'll start back on the plan for another 2 wks., I am curious to see what my scale says on Sunday morning after being off the plan for a week, I've been pretty careful with my food choices. Tomorrow I am taking DH out to eat for lunch for his birthday, but will be careful. Well lunch dishes are calling to me so guess I'd better go get them done. Have a wonderful evening.

Hugs,
Shirl

Personally when I have reached a plateau I find that it helps to change something up. I either change a routine food or a routine exercise. Think of it as rebooting your computer when it slows down.

Entering into day 3

Wednesday, August 17, 2011

Yay, I'm entering into Day 3 of my new eating plan. I'm not hungry, but boy did I miss my fruit yesterday, today though...fruit is back on the menu and I am much happier *grin*

Temperatures are cool in the mornings now as I leave for work. The windows on the vehicle are all covered in dew and a jacket is necessary once again. Although, this year, a jacket seems to have been necessary everyday!

Dug some fresh potatoes for dinner last night...they tasted so good baked in the oven with salsa sauce on them. I'm hoping to set up a bin to store potatoes. I plan on planting even more next year and will likely need storage for them. I will have to google information. I sure love the internet...when I have a question, it helps me to find the answers. Gotta love that!

My positives:
Pay day today...yay.
Garry and I have a date tonight to go grocery shopping together. Now that we are down to one vehicle again, I've roped him into coming with me.
Chatted with my SIL yesterday and wished her a happy birthday.
We have the upper cabinets purchased now for the new built in area in the LR/DR. Garry just needs to put them together and then we can get those in place.
Love how you first dream the idea and then express it and then watch it unfold. The Law of Attraction at work in our lives on a daily basis is an amazing thing.

Have a wonderful and awesome Wednesday. Keep your dreams alive and don't be afraid to reach for them.

Hugs,
Wanda

Wow...how refreshing is your positive attitude. I love it. You are absolutely right about the law of attraction. If you can see it--you can be it.

Stay sparked...the best is yet to come. emoticon

Holiday time is done until December now...

Tuesday, August 16, 2011

It's back to work and the next few weeks will be busy with keeping on top of having this years budgets spent.

I made it through Day 1 yesterday of my new eating plan. Some aspects were a struggle, but all in all it went well. I met the daily challenge from the team "just do it" and feel good about my healthy day.

Today is Day 2 and will likely be much easier as I will be at work and not at home where temptation would be greater. I'm so used to having fruit and veggies everyday that is my struggle to have only one or the other. Today is an all veggie day.

My positives:

I made it through Day 1 with no cheating what so ever.
Made it through the "Monday Challenge" on the team by reminding myself that I could "just do it".
Claiming success for today.
I have a goal and I'm going for it.
Being alive to enjoy the blessings of the day.

Have an awesome day all, thanks for stopping by. Be the change you desire to see.

Hugs,
Wanda

Yay, you made day 1 and are now tackling day 2, there are days were you have both the fruit and veggies and the soup will help you feel filled up. I haven't got my walk in yet today, but plan on going for one after super tonight. Tomorrow going to visit youngest DD, my other DD and GS are also going with me, will be a fun day. Have a great evening.

Hugs,
Shirl

It's a cool one today!

Monday, August 15, 2011

The temperature really dropped overnight. Things are looking a bit frosty out there! The temp is 12 degrees, overcast and windy. A real "Winnie the Pooh" sort of day.

I still need some hot weather and sun to ripen all the tomatoes on the vines. I'm looking forward to having some ripe tomatoes this year, not all green like last year!

Garry and I found a new Farmer's Market in the city yesterday. They are open all day Saturday and Sunday from 10 to 4pm. When talking to one of the venders, they mentioned that the plans are to eventually become year-round. They are working in partnership with Servus Credit Union and looking at getting a facility that will allow them to be indoors during the winter months. Yay...the plus side to their location...lots of parking!
We bought some kolorabi, some sweet onions and some dill. I'm hoping that our local market will have pickling cucumbers ready this week as I would like to get my pickles done. My cucumbers didn't do so well with all the rain that we have had this year. I am going to try a different brand for next year and hope for better results.

My positives:
An extra day off work.

Me time today.

Found two more floor vent covers to match the ones that we have in the LR/DR. We were short two and now they are all the same and looking nice.

I'm all ready for the little "goblins and witches" that will be coming to our door on Halloween. We were in Costco yesterday and they have treat sized containers of play dough. Yay...I hate giving out so much candy and so decided that I would be the one that gives out something different. They will get a treat size chocolate bar and a treat size play dough container. It's crazy how we teach our kids not to talk to strangers or take candy from strangers and then October 31, we send them out to knock on strangers doors and ask for candy! It bothers me when I see so many children running here and there with no adults accompanying them.

Having a new day to be excited about.

Enjoy your day, make the most of all the opportunities that come your way. Be aware of how great being alive is.

Hugs,
Wanda

August 14

Sunday, August 14, 2011

I managed to mostly do Day 1 yesterday of following the plan...that is until we got invited out for supper! So today, I will start again. I did feel good though knowing that I followed the plan as closely as possible for the best part of the day and I felt good. Learning to go with the flow and not letting the circumstances mess with my attitude is all part of feeling healthy. Today is a new day.

Garry and I accomplished lots from the "to do" list yesterday also. We got the lower cabinets all built and they are now in place. The toe kick still needs to be installed and the counter top, but it's looking great. We got the patio blocks moved and the fire pit set up on the blocks...so fire regulations are met. Now we can sit around a lovely fire outside this fall as the weather gets cooler. It is a fire pit that we can actually cook on also, so I'm set if the need ever arises *grin*.

Did some baking yesterday also. I used up the fruit pulp that was left over from juicing and made some fruit loaves, which I now have vacuum sealed and in the freezer. Popped one of the loaves off to the girls for them to enjoy. I'm thinking that I might even make batches of cookie dough, roll the dough into log shapes, and put them into vacuum sealed bags and into the freezer too. Then closer to Christmas, all I will have to do is pull whatever roll of dough I want out, thaw, cut the log and bake. Voila! cookies . Can you tell that I am having fun with my new Food Saver machine????

My positives:

Many things accomplished on the "to do" list .
A nice long chat with my brother. He and his wife are attending the Uranium City reunion that we had wanted to attend. It was fun to catch up on news of people that we haven't seen for many years.
I think that Fall is becoming one of my favorite times of the year...doing all this preserving and filling my freezer with things for the coming winter is rather an exciting thing. It's such a feeling of satisfaction, knowing that my family will have healthy things to eat during the winter.
A new day to be alive and open to blessings and opportunities that the Universe brings my way.

Have a wonderful day, be excited about your day.

Hugs,
Wanda

You handled that good, if you get messed up just start again on day 1, I hope you have good results too. I am taking this week off and will resume the plan on Augst 22, for 2 weeks and then will go off for another week. I needed this to get my ticker moving on down again, and I am pleased that at the end of 2 weeks I had eliminated 7 lbs. I am amazed at all the good things you have been making and how all that will taste so good to your family this winter. Have a wonderful week.

Hugs,
Shirl
