Who would have thought...

Tuesday, July 26, 2011

Who would have thought that finding a ministerial person to conduct a service would be so hard. Seems like they have all gone on holidays at the same time and they don't do funerals on a Sunday when there is someone there!
Apparently, the fill in pastor for the church that Garry's folks attend isn't available except for Sundays and their regular pastor is away on holidays. They have even resorted to approaching other towns to see if there is an available pastor. Not something that a person really even thought about before. Hopefully we will know sometime this morning if someone will be available.

My positives:

It's raining again....I won't have to worry about my garden getting watered while away!
We found someone who is willing to come in and check on the cat while gone. Usually family does, but family will all be at the funeral.
Quin's girlfriend...bless her heart.
Having bereavement paid time off from work.
Family and friends. Thank you to all of you who have left me messages of support and comfort. Our family appreciates you all.

Have a blessed day,
Hugs,
Wanda

This will be a tough week.

Monday, July 25, 2011

Please excuse the very short blog and possible disappearance of blogs for the next few days.

Garry's Dad made his final journey last night. Thankfully, he is now at rest. For the rest of us, it will be a time of gathering together and becoming each others strength.

Garry just got home on Saturday night from SK and will be heading back again this morning. The girls and I will be heading there on Thursday. So much to do between now and then, as this will be a traditional Ukrainian funeral. Much to prepare in the way of food.
I'm going in to work today as there are many deadline things I need to do. I will most likely be taking the rest of this week off and then I am on holiday time after that.
I'll keep in touch as best as I can over the next couple of days, but I will be away from Thursday until possibly Monday.

My positives:

God's grace, peace and comfort.
Jack has made his final journey and is no longer struggling.

Hugs,
Wanda

July 24

Sunday, July 24, 2011

The girls came over for a nice long visit last night and I even had a phone call from Quin. Having the chance to talk with all our kids in one evening was such a blessing.

Lovely sunshine in the morning and it lasted until about mid afternoon before it clouded in again and began to rain. Sunshine this morning though, so hopefully we will have a sunny day.

Spent some time out in the garden doing some weeding and even harvested some of the celery. Its small but oh so tasty.

My positives:
Garry had safe travels home last evening. Although he will head back again on Wednesday if not before.
Visits with the girls.
Phone call from Quin.
Only 3 days left of work before my holidays begin.
Blessed in so many ways.

Have a wonderful Sunday,
Hugs,
Wanda

There's something yellow in the sky!

Saturday, July 23, 2011

I'm almost afraid to say "sun" for fear it will disappear again!*grin* It rained all day again yesterday. The poor sump pump was working it's little heart out. But it was solidly backed by the second sump pump we have installed, so figured all this rain wasn't going to put more water into my basement.

Reno guy was here again yesterday. He has all the drywall and new insulation into the room that we are converting to a cold storage room. He's got one coat of mud on the wall in there and now will back on Monday.

Got a text message from Garry yesterday while at work that the pastor was called in for his Dad. They were able to have family prayer together and his Dad is at peace and ready for his transition. Garry was going to head home yesterday, but I told him to stay for his Mom. I really hope he stays for the whole weekend as I hate the thought of his Mom being on her own when Jack passes.

My positives:

What appears to be a possible sunny day!
Basement restoration is coming along.
Lots of little tomatoes on my plants now, as well as some cucumbers forming.
Bills are paid, groceries in the house and a roof over my head. What more can you ask for.
Being blessed with another of life.

Have a wonderful Silly Saturday,
Hugs,Wanda

Restoration of basement finally underway!

Friday, July 22, 2011

Yay, the restoration of our basement is finally underway. Now if it would only stop raining, I would be ecstatic! We did have a beautiful sunny day during the day yesterday, which was wonderful. It started raining about 7pm last night and hasn't quit yet!

There has been so much moisture in the air that the basement floor is still not completely dried, so we won't be putting down the new flooring until this is completely dry. We do have our new flooring chosen though, so it's ready to go as soon as the floor is ready.

Yay...it's Friday. I woke up this morning and thought it was only Thursday! What a bonus.

My positives:

Restoration finally underway in the basement.
A great sleep last night.
My books that I ordered arrived, as well as a lovely stack that I had on hold at the library....it's going to be a great weekend!
If Garry gets home this weekend, we are going to make an attempt to finally get the ceiling painted in the LR/DR so that we can move furniture back in there. Time has been not on our side in getting this project finished, but oh well.
Friends, family and God in my life.

Have a wonderfully blessed day.
Hugs,
Wanda

Everything will eventually get done. Praying you get some dry weather soon so your basement floor will be able to get dryer. We finally got rain today and lower temps and humidity I was even able to turn off our AC. GS comimg to visit this weekend, so we'll be watching movies. Enjoy your weekend.

Hugs,
Shirl
