Yesterday morning as I was typing out my blog, I noticed that there was a reddish glow in the air and the old adage of "red sky in the morning, sailors take warning" ran through my mind. It was only a few minutes after that, that I began to hear thunder in the background. Decided to head to work a few minutes early as I didn't want to get caught in the rain.
As I was driving to work I was noticing the strangest cloud formation I have ever seen. It was a solid band of cloud, no breaks in it at all that looked like a giant wave rolling in. It stretched from the south to the north across the sky and there was lots of lightning happening behind it. The wind was picking up by the time I parked at work, but I made it in before getting wet. Within minutes the sky was pitch black, you couldn't see out the window at all it was so dark. Then the storm hit. The thunder was so loud that it rattled the windows. Awesome display of Mother Nature. It lasted about an hour and then just as quickly cleared up and left us with a very warm and humid day.
I wonder what today will bring????
I'm having a fresh bowl of Saskatoon berries for breakfast this morning. Kaeli brought them over last night. She had gone to the U-pick farm and picked them the night before. They are so yummy.
I got all my weeding done on Sunday, so didn't have to worry about being out in the mosquito infested back yard yesterday.
A busy day at work, so the day went by quickly.
We have friends arriving for overnight tomorrow.
I've been blessed with a new day of life.
I met my goal of 8 hours of sleep last night.
Have a wonderfully blessed day,

Garry was attempting to cut the grass yesterday as we had a jungle in the front and back yards with all the rain we have been having. The ground is still so wet that cutting the grass was a real chore. The mosquitoes were not so nice either, but it was nice to cut down some of their hiding places. The moment they swarmed up in the air though, it was interesting watching all the birds gathering!
The girls popped over for a nice visit yesterday and we spent some time out on the back deck enjoying our time together and relaxing.
We have new neighbors moving in next door and they seem very nice. They are busy doing repairs and renovations before actually moving in. Once they are in, I'm sure we will have more opportunity to get to know them.
Got my pear tree planted...yay...two apple trees and a pear tree added to the back yard this year.
Restoration on our basement is supposed to start this week. The basement floor is still holding lots of moisture though, so not sure if they are bringing the machines back in to dry it out or not. Hope so, cause I refuse to have the new flooring laid down with a damp cement floor underneath.
Only 11 more days until my holidays!
I spent some time in my garden yesterday and am thrilled to have noticed that I actually have some tomatoes. They are tiny yet, more they are there. As well as I have a couple of cucumbers making their appearance. Woo Hoo.
We have company coming for overnight Wednesday night. I'm looking forward to seeing our friends from BC.
Just being alive.
Have a wonderful day,

Yesterday morning I woke up with a terrible headache. I was thrilled that it appeared we were going to have a nice sunny day. Great opportunity to spend some time outdoors and soak up some sun while I meditated.
Change of plans right off the bat. I got a phone call from my "trucking" brother, he was doing a time layover at the truck stop close by and wanted to know if I would like to meet him for breakfast. I wanted to say no due to the headache, but as I hadn't seen him for some time felt that I really should. At first the negatives tried to take over my day reminding me that I had a headache and really needed to just take time for me. Then I called on my angels for their help in changing my attitude and relieving my headache so that I could enjoy the visit with my brother.
By the time I arrived at the truck stop I was already beginning to look forward to seeing him. Got some toast into me and I was beginning to feel better. Within about 20 minutes of being with him, my outlook had changed and I was feeling much better. Discovered that Layne was going to be spending the day and night at the truck stop due to needing to make sure that his hours of rest between driving were filled by legal requirements.
I sent Garry a text message letting him know and asking him if wanted to call my other brother and see if they wanted to join us for a bbq at supper time and we would have some family time. Yay, they would join us. Texted the girls and they could join us too.
Told Layne to grab a change of clothes and what ever he needed for the day and we would head to our place where he could have a shower and spend some time together relaxing.
What a good day we had. It is the first time in a very long time that there was just the two of us and we had some very heart-to-heart conversations. What a blessing I would have missed out on if I had chosen a different path in the morning.
We had a lovely evening with all of us gathered. We managed to spend much of the evening out on the back deck before the mosquitoes got so bad we had to head indoors.
An affirming of the fact that our choices do make a difference in how our day goes. We can have a good day, a better day or a great day!
Today, I will be blessed with time to get the laundry finished, and time to get out into my garden.
Have a wonderful Serenity Sunday,

After 8 straight days of rain and overcast skies, what a joy to get up this morning and see sunshine!
I have my laundry started and will get the floors washed and then the rest of the day will be spent outdoors as much as possible soaking up the sunshine as I do outdoor chores.Ahhhhhh.
SUNSHINE...you just can't beat the sunshine!
Time today to get out in the garden and start tending to it.
It's the weekend and I have lots of outdoors chores to do.
Garry is home this weekend. He will head back to Saskatchewan again on Thursday.
Just plain and simply being alive...what an opportunity to become all that I have been created to be.
Have a joyful day.,

This week has gone by so quickly on one hand, yet on the other it felt like Friday would never get here!
We started to see a peek of the sun yesterday, then it disappeared again, but at least even though the skies were overcast, we did not receive more rain!
Edmonton, on the other hand is now got the distinction of being Canada's mosquito capital! It is just horrid when you walk out doors. I tried to take a look at my garden yesterday and the swarming of mosquitoes was so bad I had to head back indoors. Attempting to get back in the house without letting hundreds of mosquitoes in with me was crazy! All I can say is "where are the bats???"
It looks like our restoration for our basement is finally going to happen. YAY! I had the guy that is going to do the restoration over last evening to get all his measurements and to figure out what he is going to need. He hopes to start on Monday or Tuesday of next week. I also had a phone call from the carpet store to come in and choose my carpet. I am so thrilled to finally have this happening. Although the carpet may not be able to go down yet for awhile as the restoration guy agreed with me that there is still moisture in the basement cement floor. Not sure what they are going to do about that.
It's Friday! Woo Hoo.
Although it's very overcast outdoors at the moment, we have been promised by the weather forecasters a sunny weekend.
My garden seems to have survived fairly well all of the rain. I think it's going to take some time before it needs watering again though. My watermelons don't seem to have grown much at all in the past few weeks, so not sure if I will get any fruit off of them this year. But I do have one lovely zucchini in my garden!
My cucumbers are all in flower, lots of flowers on the tomato and potato plants too.
Garry hopes to be at home this weekend. He will probably head to Saskatchewan again next week.
I have a new day ahead of me to be all that I have been created to be. I love that each day, I start with a clean slate.
Have a fabulously wonderful Friday,
