Sunshine has been promised for the weekend!

Thursday, July 14, 2011

YAy, sunshine has been promised for the weekend. I'm so excited about that. We have had rain for the past seven days straight! It is supposed to start clearing up today with possible thunder showers late this afternoon, but sunshine by Saturday. YAY.

My Positives:

A lovely long chat on the phone last evening with number one daughter Kaeli.
A lunch treat with number two daughter, Shyra, yesterday.
Dreams that included my Mom for the past couple of nights...interesting and comforting.
The promise of sunshine for the weekend...which means outdoors as much as possible.
Being blessed with another day of life.

Have a wonderful day,

Think I'm going to plant rice!

Wednesday, July 13, 2011

I've switched countries and I'm going to plant rice! We have had so much rain that the ground is having trouble absorbing any more. No sunshine in sight until, we've been told, the weekend! The town of Eckville, just south of where we are has received flooding. So sad to see on the news all the water that is in the homes. Thigh high in some of the homes. At least I can't complain about that where we are, so far our new sump pumps have been able to keep up.

On to more pleasant things....I had a lovely glass full of nectarine/peach/kiwi juice this morning for breakfast. So tasty! I'm having fun with my new juicer. It's nice to be able to use up all the fruit so that it doesn't spoil on me. The pulp goes into packages in the fridge and I will use it in baking at a later date. I have a great spinach salad with strawberries/blueberries and cranberries tossed in for lunch. My day is off to a great start. I will probably make a nice pot of homemade soup for supper tonight for me and add a sandwich to the meal for hubby. This kind of weather calls for warm stuff!

My positives:

My sump pumps are keeping up with all the rain and no more flooding in my basement.
Good sleep last night.
The promise of sunshine on the weekend has me excited!
I have a nice warm vehicle to get me back and forth to work. The mosquitoes can't get me inside my vehicle. *they try, but so far the vehicle is holding up *grin*
Friends, family and a life filled with fun, love and laughter.

Have a wonderful day,

I wish we could take some of the rain that you have too much of, and bring it here. We are dry, but not that many mosquitoes, that is the good thing.

Tried optimism yesterday...it didn't work!

Tuesday, July 12, 2011

Grin*...I tried optimism yesterday about the weather and it didn't work. I was very hopeful that we would have sunshine and perhaps no rain...sadly we did not. According to the weather forecast last evening, we will not see sunshine yet until perhaps the weekend. After a summer last year that was non existent, a very long and dark winter and so far this summer has been scarce to say the least, I am struggling with SADS. I need sunshine!
I scared myself this morning as I looked out my front window and saw what appeared to be "yellow" leaves on the bushes in our front yard and across the street in the neighbors. I was thinking OMG...even the trees think it's fall time! I got up and walked to the window to have a closer look....thankfully those yellow leaves were actually small yellow flowers that have bloomed with all this rain! *grin* Talk about relief!

My positives:
I had a nice busy day at work yesterday, made the day go by fast.
Managed to get rid of the headache that has been plaguing me the past couple of days.
Ready to face the day with a positive attitude.
Grateful for all the blessings in my life and open to receiving guidance from my higher source.
Blessed with another day of life and plan on making it a great day.

Have a wonderful Tuesday,

Our summer is missing presumed over as well. I'm sat here in a jumper and shivering in mid July, and we have had a lot of rain too, though we have seen the sun in between, unlike you! Crackers, the weather is. Crackers!! I don't like too much heat to be honest, but this is ridiculous!
Hope the weekend forecast for you turns out to be accurate!

The weather has been crazy this year, some places have way too much water and other places are so dry and fires going on, it's just been crazy. Sunday and Monday we are suppose to be in the 90's and high humidity, pretty sure our AC will be on if it does. Have a wonderful Wednesday.

I am being very optimistic this morning...we didn't have any rain overnight and although it is still overcast, there appears to be some small breaks in the clouds. Perhaps we will finally have some sunshine today!
I am anxious to get out into the garden to see how things are growing. With any luck the weeds that have managed to make an appearance will be easy to pull. The ground is so saturated that they might have even drown *grin*.

We had friends over to share a lunch with us yesterday. What a lovely visit. It was so nice to catch up on all our family news. Complete change of menu from what we had hoped to have. Due to the cold and rain, BBQing was not an option, so instead, soup and sandwiches became the order of the day.

We didn't get the ceiling finished as planned, so it will carry over until possibly this weekend. Garry is heading out today for Saskatchewan and hopes to be back by the weekend. If I get brave enough, I might try to tackle the ladder and painting the ceiling myself. I'm looking so forward to getting my house back in order.

My positives:
A great night's sleep last night. No storms to keep me awake.
Feeling optimistic about possible sunshine today *grin*
Only a couple more weeks until my holidays.
Trusting that all the flowers I see on my cucumbers, potatoes and tomatoes will translate into a bountiful harvest.
Having fun with my new juicer.
Email from Quin...he is safe and sound and busy. Says the fishing is awesome.
Blesses that flow into my life each and every day. Guidance from above.

Have a wonderful day,

and the rain continues!

We actually had to turn the furnace back on yesterday! I'm thinking that environment Canada did not get it right at all with their prediction that this summer would be very dry and extremely hot! So far all we have seen is very low and cool temperatures and lots and lots of rain! Our temperatures dropped down to 9 last night...and this is JULY!

Still rain forecasted for today...and it does appear that will be the case with the overcast skies that I see out the window. I am so glad that we have two sump pumps going in the basement or we would be dealing with yet more water there. What a crazy summer this has been. All I can say is....there had better be sunshine and beautiful days when my holiday time rolls around at the end of this month! *grin*

We have friends joining us for lunch today. We haven't seen them since we went to Las Vegas this spring. Looking forward to having a nice visit with them.

Garry is heading out tomorrow morning for Saskatchewan. He hopes to be back home here again mid week, but will decide once he is there.

We got all the taping and cutting in done for the ceiling yesterday. Garry is going to try and get it completed today. Neither one of us likes ladders and it required me being on the very top of the ladder in order to get the taping done yesterday. Garry, being taller, didn't have to go up the ladder quite so far in order to do the cutting in. We have an extension for the roller so hope to avoid the ladder as much as possible today.

I tried a beet/apple/celery combination in the juicer yesterday that was very tasty. I'm thinking this is going to be fun.(and healthy)

My positives:

Kaeli dropped in for a visit yesterday afternoon and Shyra dropped in last evening.
John and Donna coming to share lunch with us today.
Hope to have the ceiling all painted by the end of the day today.
Free watering of my garden!
I see lots of flowers on my cucumber plants, Yay! My potato plants have lots of flowers also, and I'm hoping that the tomato plants are the same.
Holidays coming up at the end of this month. I'm looking forward to the time to be at home and enjoy relaxing.

Have a wonderful Serenity Sunday,

I love your list of positives -- friends, home projects, and gardening. Sounds just like me! Gardening is new for me. Having just recently retired, I'm trying new things! I planted a flower garden and I'm seeing just how much work it takes to keep it beautiful!
Enjoy your day!
