We survived a full house last evening.

Friday, July 01, 2011

Probably better put, would be to say we survived the day yesterday! (and we managed to do it with a positive attitude)
I was at work when I got a call from my co-worker asking me if I realized that my parking pass was not displayed in my vehicle. Yikes! The fine for parking where I have to park at work is hefty if you don't have the parking pass. I had exchanged vehicles with Garry and forgot to transfer my pass...Dilemma, cause if I leave to go home to get it, I will loose my parking spot due to lack of parking for staff. So as much as I hated to do it, I phoned Garry and woke him up to ask him to bring it to me. I hated to phone at that hour of the morning as I knew 1) he would be still asleep 2) getting a call at that hour of the mornng, he would automatically think "his Dad". Bless his heart, he survived the rude awakening and willingly brought down the parking pass and installed in for me. Yay, one disaster averted.
Once I got home from work to several messages. 3 people cancelling out and in their place I was gaining 3 more people that I didn't know! Apparently the visiting relatives decided to invite some other that they knew so they could get a visit in with them also. Such a strange evening. Then my aunt and uncle got lost trying to find our place...so a slight touch of panic there. Thank you angels for helping out.
Because I have limited space inside my house due to renovations happening and all the stuff from my basement flood still upstairs everywhere, we had decided to have everything out in the back yard. No problem...except that it decided to rain just as we were getting ready to start the BBQ stuff! Once again, bless Garry's heart for standing out in the rain cooking. Regardless, by keeping a positive attitude and just going with the flow...the evening was a success. Perhaps even more so as everyone was in such close proximity to each other *grin*
We shared some interesting family stories and had as many had to leave to head back home early this morning, it was not a late night. With having had to be up at 4:30 am for work yesterday morning, I was happy to have my day over fairly early. Once again Thank you Universe for helping out.

My positives:
A successful evening getting to know distant relatives a little bit better.
A confirmation once again, of how working to keep a positive attitude make things flow so much nicer.
Garry....bless his heart...these were all relatives from my side of the family and he pitched right in and helped out.
A nice chat with Garry's Mom last evening. She is an amazing woman.
I don't have to water my garden again today! I'll just do some thinning and weeding.
A long weekend ahead of me.
Garry just offered to go and get Timmies for us . YAYAYAYAYAYAY!

Have a wonderful day, Happy Canada Day to all our Canadian friends.

Woo Hoo, it's my Friday today!

Thursday, June 30, 2011

Yay, with tomorrow being Canada Day, we are closed at work, which means today is my Friday...last work day of the week.

We have 14 people coming over to our place this evening for BBQ. Out of town relatives are visiting, which meant that we needed to invite all the in town relatives too so that everyone had a chance to visit. As long as the weather holds out, we should be good.

Menu: grilled eggplant, grilled portebello mushrooms, roasted yams with onions, roasted baby potatoes, 4 different salads and for the meat eaters in the crowd...Garry is going to grill some chicken kabobs.

We had a massive thunder and rain storm blow through here last evening. I no longer have to wash the deck off, as the rain came down so hard for a couple of hours that everything is nice and clean now. Thank you Lord for the assistance. My garden is all watered once again, one less chore to tackle after work today too!

My house still looks like chaos, what with the renos happening and all the stuff from the basement still in every nook and cranny upstairs, but I've just decided that seeing as I can't do anything about it, I would just change my attitude and stop worrying about it. The company we are having is coming to see us not the house! Insurance company has given the go ahead now for the basement fixings to take place, now we are just waiting for Onsite Restoration to let us know when they are going to show up and beginning restoring.Hopefully it will all be done by August when we have a family reunion supposed to be taking place. We had agreed to host some over night guests!

My Positives:
It's my Friday....a nice 4 day weekend ahead of me as I also have Monday booked off work.
God supplied the heavy rain yesterday so that I don't have to wash the deck off, nor the deck furniture.
My garden is all watered (well), one less task to tackle after work.
Floors are all washed, no sanding dust hiding anywhere now!
Menu all planned for tonight's get-together.
Dessert is made and in the fridge.
Only a couple of small paint touch ups to do and the walls are all finished in the LR/DR. It's amazing how you notice the spots after the paint has dried and you've cleaned up all the painting stuff*grin*. Oh well, it's only two little spots, I could probably leave them, but the perfectionist in me knows they are there and they will drive me crazy until I fix them.
A new day before me to create a great day in.

Have a wonderful day,

Your menu sounds delish, what time did you say you were serving up the food, lol. Enjoy all your visiting, and you are right your visitors are there to see you, not to do an inspection on your house, so relax and enjoy.

I'm thinking that I am going to need to be very diligent and mindful of my attitude today. I read my daily personal guide and this is what it says about today:
Sensitive. Self conscious. A little out of tune. Bad day for stress, deadlines. Take time off. Romance highly favorable. Okay then! *grin*...usually my daily guide is more upbeat, so I will take this "forewarning" and be very mindful throughout my day. I wonder if I should just go back to bed *grin*.

Garry's Dad was moved from Hospice into palliative care yesterday. I really pray that it won't be much longer for him. He is so ready to go. Garry will be heading back to Saskatchewan this weekend for sure, possibly even sooner.

We have some relatives arriving for a visit tomorrow, but they all know the situation and know that plans could change last minute. We'll have about 14 people here for a BBQ tomorrow evening. I'm heading out to Costco after work today to pick up all the fixings. Grilled veggies and some shishkabobs for the meat eaters. I need to make the dessert this evening also as it needs to sit overnight. So between life situation, my house still in renovation chaos, my basement still not returned to normal, and a threat of cooler temperatures and rain....yep, no stress, just life as normal in our household *grin*

My positives:

Family gathering tomorrow. It will be nice to see everyone.
It's a lovely long weekend coming up with an extra day off for me on Monday.
A good night's sleep last night. Only woke up once.
My garden is a lovely place to just rejuvenate in. Thank You Lord for giving me such a place.
School is now out, so traffic is not so crazy around our street.
It a new day, with opportunities yet to be revealed.

Have a wonderful day,

Let's try this again...lost the first attempt!

Tuesday, June 28, 2011

Not sure how I managed to lose the first attempt at this this morning, but I did!

I'm throwing this out to the Universe and trusting that I will get some input. My intention is to find a way of earning a living from home that does not involve "selling". I need to change my work environment as it is not so good for my health. I also need to have an income. Working from home is something that I would love to be able to do. Any suggestions? Links to honest jobs? All input would be appreciated.
I know the are all kinds of ideas on the internet, trouble is, finding which ones are legitimate and honest.
Now that I have made the decision that this is the course I need to follow, I have much more peace...so have to believe that I will be provided with the opportunity(ies) that I need.

My positives:
I should be able to apply the final coat of paint on the one wall that requires it today. Then all but the ceiling is done.
We have distant relatives coming for a visit on Thursday. We have invited my aunt and uncle and their daughter as well as my Brother and his wife to come over also. A full house, but it should be interesting figuring out all the family connections.
A lovely sunny afternoon yesterday with a rain shower during the night.
Found a couple of great veggie grilling recipes to try out.
By shifting my focus on my work situation, I've managed to gain some peace. Instead of focusing on "retiring" in order to be in a healthier environment, I've shifted my focus to finding "work" that I can do from home.
Believing that God wants the best for me and being willing to being open to what He supplies.

I just love it when I have completed a blog and go to post it and it won't post or a post on one of our threads, arrrrr! The way you let yourself be guided if there is a way to work from home and it's meant to be, I am sure you'll be shown the way, I love the way you approach things in your life. I am glad to be back home today, it was nice to wake up in my own bed and knowing my kids are back home safe and sound. Enjoy this day.

June 27

Monday, June 27, 2011

Another short work week is about to begin. July 1 (Canada Day) falls on a Friday this year, which means we are closed. I am also taking Monday of next week off work as part of my overtime hours, so will have a very lovely long weekend.

Garry made it home early evening last night. It has been an exhausting time for him physically as well as mentally. Each time he heads to Saskatchewan, he wonders if this will be last time he sees his Dad alive. It's so good that all of the siblings have been able to be there as much as they have been.

The girls came over for supper last night and were still here when Garry got home. He was so pleased to see them.

We were able to eat dinner out on the back deck, a little on the cool side with the wind blowing, but just so nice to be outdoors and not be in the rain. Still overcast this morning, but hopefully we will have sunshine at some point today.

One more coat of paint in the newly created area in my LR/DR and the walls will be all done. We can then make a decision on cabinets and hopefully have them installed soon. We are going to rent some scaffolding to enable us to get the ceiling painted. The baseboards need to be put back in place, painting the window frames and sills and possibly getting a new front door installed this year and that will give us one more area of the house that is completely reno'd.

We are still waiting for our insurance to get the ball rolling on fixing our basement from the flood this spring. I'm hoping that it happens soon. I would really like to get the stuff that belongs in the basement back down there and out of the rest of the rooms in my house. This living in chaos is really not my thing!

My positives:

Garry arrived home safe and sound. He is hoping to be at home this week.
Girls came over for supper last night and we had some good laughs.
Progress is being made on the renos in the LR/DR.
Supposed to get some sunshine today.
A short work week.
I enjoyed my alone time this past weekend. Lots of meditation time.
Having a higher source of guidance in my life.

Have a wonderful Monday,
