Sunshine, where art thou?

Sunday, June 26, 2011

I'm thinking that Environment Canada was not anywhere close in their prediction of the weather for this summer...they predicted a hot, dry summer for this region. Well, they got the hot, dry right but they have the wrong region! The north is hot and dry and very prone to forest fires, but our area has seen very little sunshine, lower than normal temperatures and lots and lots of rain! After the winter we had, I am so in need of some warm and sunshine. I just might have to go and invest in a lamp to aid in SADS.

Had a call from Garry yesterday evening. Their garage sale was a huge success. They almost cleaned out, which is awesome. That will help their Mom a lot. His Dad had a rough day yesterday. He shared with them a dream that he had, which just goes to show how God and the angels are preparing him for his transition to the other side. He dreamt about begin free from pain and lying on a soft and comfortable bed. He said he felt so light. Then he saw himself as he lay in his coffin and realized that he was no longer bound to his body and that he was free.
Thank you Lord for granting him peace about his dying. Please be with Garry and his family and grant them peace and comfort as they prepare to say "until later" to their loved one. Continue to be with Jack as he makes his transition. Fold him in Your arms and ease his journey.

Barring anything happening last night, Garry will probably head home today for a couple of days before heading back again.

We have relatives coming to visit next week. But they also understand that we might or might not be here depending on the situation. We are hosting them on Thursday although they will be in town as of Tuesday.

My positives:

I just have the final touch ups to do on the walls that I painted yesterday and then it's only the ceiling left to do in the LR/DR.
Short week this week. Friday is July 1 and Canada Day, so we are closed. YAY. I also have the following Monday off work, so a nice long weekend.
My tomatoes and potatoes are growing like crazy. I've got some little flowers appearing on the tomato plants already.
I noticed that I have a little tiny zucchini growing on one of my plants...yay!
Laundry is all done.
A good sleep last night.
I'm alive and ready to face the day.

Have a wonderful serenity Sunday.
Hugs,
Wanda

Dreams like that help enormously, and that was a wonderful gift to share with his family. :-)
Thinking of you all, and of your lush garden and all that rain!

We have had cool wet weather here in northern Minnesota while the rest of the USA seems to be hot, dry and plagued by storms. I am longing for sunshine.

Think I might have my internet issues solved...

Saturday, June 25, 2011

I talked with my IT guy at work yesterday and was telling him about my computer issues and that things work well for a while then slow down to a crawl before not even allowing me to connect. He suggested that once a month as a regular part of my maintenance that I unplug my wireless router and give it a minute before plugging it back in. Apparently routers can gather up "dirt" and get clogged up so they don't work right. Okay...I decided to try that....woo hoo, it worked! My computer connections are good as well as the speed of my searching is rapid once again. I do believe I will follow his advice and make it a regular part of my maintenance.

Had a lovely supper and evening with number one daughter last night. She needed to use my laundry facilities as their is "broken" and their land lord is out of town until the end of the month. It was so nice to spend time with just the two of us.

I had a special treat from Shyra's boyfriend yesterday at work. Kyle came to share lunch with Shyra and brought me a "Timmies" too! Such a lovely and unexpected treat.

Today's "to do" list includes finishing the sanding on the walls and leaving the doors and windows open and attempting to complete the painting of the walls. (one less task for Garry to try and tackle...he is going to rent some scaffolding so he can do the ceiling.) Neither one of us enjoys being up on ladders, so bless his heart for sharing the load of getting the painting done and taking on the major area. He'll try and get it done next time he is home from Saskatchewan.

It appears like we are going to get yet more rain today. The skies are very overcast and it did rain during the night. We had some nice sunshine during parts of yesterday, but not enough to dry anything out! Looks like "damp" is still the order of the day. On the other hand, my garden is loving it!

Have a wonderful day...choose to be happy in whatever your circumstances are. That is your power.

Hugs,
Wanda

Being the nervous type, I unplug my computer stuff every night before I go to bed. I only leave my freezer and set top box for the TV running all night. :-) Oh, and the clock on the cooker. LOL
Did not know about the 'dirt' thing.
Sounds like the decorating and the garden are going well. :-)

Wanda I have to unplug my modem every once in awhile so I can connect to the internet, if I see a red light that's usually my clue that I am not going to get a connection unless I unplug wait a little bit and then plug it back in. It was gray and cloudy all day yesterday and unseasonaly cool, today we have blue clear skies and lots of sun and the weeds in my DD's garden have grown way too much, lol. Took DH to McDonalds for a breakfast sandwich this morning. I had a good night sleep in my own bed, will be heading back out to DD's today. Enjoy your weekend and hope you get sun.

Hugs,
Shirl

Still having internet issues

Friday, June 24, 2011

I lost all my connectivity again last evening. This morning I spent about 20 minutes trying to get connected...some success, but really slow. Not sure what is going on.

We had rain again last night and the wind is blowing rather strongly out there this morning. Looks very overcast, so thinking the rain is not done yet!

Had a nice phone chat with Quin last evening. He has been very busy, not only with clients, but they have been fighting fires also. One of the lodges was on evacuation alert. He says that the wind has shifted now, so hopefully they will be okay. Fires are my biggest concern where he is. It's an isolated region and the only way in is by float plane. He says the fishing is great and he's as happy as can be. www.lakersunlimited.com/

My positives:

I managed to get connected to the internet this morning.
I'm learning how this texting thing works on my phone ...as I'm not a phone chatter, I'm actually liking this feature *grin*
Text messages from Garry last evening and a phone call from Quin...my two favorites guys!
It's Friday!
I don't need to water the garden (yet again).
These winds we are having will hopefully dry up some of the standing water from the last rainfalls.
I have a lovely weekend ahead of me. A short week next week as July 1st is Canada day and we are closed at work and a short week the following week as I'm taking a holiday day on the Monday. Woo Hoo.
Just being alive.

Have a fabulous Friday.

Hugs,
Wanda

Internet connections trouble today

Thursday, June 23, 2011

I wasn't able to connect to spark people this morning which was very surprising at the hour that I usually get on 5am. I even tried from work but it wouldn't accept my password which was strange.

Oh well, here I am now! *grin*

Garry left again this morning for Saskatchewan. He'll try to head back home again on Sunday. They are having a big garage sale at his Mom's so hope it is successful. Their Dad is really concerned that there will be too much left for their Mom to deal with when he dies, so he wants them to get rid of as much as they can now so he feels better.

Very breezy outdoors today, but the sun is still shining so that makes me happy.

My positives:

My hubby brought Shy and I a Timmies before leaving town this morning. What a nice treat.
Sunshine and a lovely opportunity to go and sit out on my back deck soon.
Lots of fresh fruit in the house again.
A weekend ahead of just putting along at my own speed. Might even get some reading in.
Being alive and very grateful for the family and friends that I have.

Hugs,
Wanda

Woo Hoo, we had sunshine yesterday!

Wednesday, June 22, 2011

We had a lovely first day of summer filled with some sunshine yesterday. How nice was that!
We did end up with some thunder showers later in the afternoon, but I had time to sit out on the deck for a little while once I got home from work. Ahhhhh.

Payday today. Always a bonus. I need to stop off at the grocery store on my way home from work and pick up a few things. Garry is planning on heading out early tomorrow morning for Saskatchewan and I want to make up a couple of desserts for him to take with him.

I was able to make it out the garden beds yesterday and check on all my lovely little plants that are growing. What a delight to see them thriving. Surprising enough there weren't a lot of weeds . What weeds there were, were super easy to pull out as the ground is still so wet. My tomato plants are getting so tall and some even have little flowers beginning to appear. Added more soil to my potato plants as they have grown so much too. My eggplant seeds have sprouted, so hopefully will enjoy some eggplant this fall. It is such a great experience to look at your garden and realize that you are going to be providing for your family in a small way. Healthy food and so much tastier than you buy at the store.

My Positives:

Sunshine yesterday and possibly some even today! Woo Hoo, two days with sun in row *grin*
My garden is looking so wonderful...thank you Lord for your abundance.
Pretty good night's sleep last night.
Payday today.
Blessed with a job that provides me with a way of paying for all the renos that we have been doing.
Family, friends and God's guidance in my life.

Have a wonderful Wednesday,
Hugs,
Wanda

Yay for the sunshine. They say we might see peaks of sun today, but there's a pretty good change of rain again today. At least I was able to get in the pool yesterday, and that felt so good. GS is at work today and I am going in to spend time with DH. Glad your gardens are all doing so well. Have a good day at work and enjoy your evening.

Hugs,
Shirl
