Family

Friday, June 10, 2011

Yesterday was a great day of reconnecting with family.
I had a cousin from British Columbia that arrived to spend a couple of days with my brother and SIL in St. Albert. I agreed to drive there after work yesterday for a visit. Although it took me an hour to get there due to traffic, the time there was wonderful.
Not only did I get to see my cousin Sherri, but my Aunt Muriel, Uncle Lyle and their daughter Kelly also made the trip to St. Albert to see everyone. We had a lovely visit.
Sherri will be coming back this way in the fall, so hopefully we will get to see her once again.

My Positives
Family
It's Friday!
Our wine cooler arrived yesterday and Garry was able to pick it up. I had saved enough points by shopping at a certain grocery store to enable us to get one for free. A lovely $450.00 bonus! We are going to build it into the new cabinet area that we are building in the LR/DR. Although we are not big wine drinkers, it will work for keeping juices/water and other beverages cool too.
Weather forecast is calling for a nice weekend. Yay...outdoor time.
The fact that I woke up this morning, that's always a blessing. It means my mission in this world is not complete.
Garry's Dad, although he is ready to go, God still has not called him home.

Have a wonderful day,
Hugs,
Wanda

Glad you had such a nice visit with family. We have a lot of rain today, but I am so loving the cooler temps and lower humidity. Tomorrow it's suppose to clear up before noon, which will be nice as I am going to GGD's first dance recital, my three girls are going with me, then we may all go out to eat after the recital, lots of fun with family. Your MIL is fortunate to have her children to be around her at this difficult time, it's not an easy time for any of them though, prayers for all. I hope you do get the nice weather for your weekend and enjoy.

Hugs,
Shirl

June is the birthday/anniversary celebration month for our family. We've just celebrated my nephew's on the 4th, then my SIL on the 5th, today is Garry's sister Launda's birthday and tomorrow is his sister Fern's. We then skip to the13th for a very close friends birthday, then another SIL birthday on the 15th, 17th we celebrate one of Garry's brothers and his nieces' birthdays. Father's day thrown into the mix just for fun on the 19th, then 24th is Garry's brother and SIL's anniversary and finally the 26th very close friends anniversary.
Thankfully, we are not traveling to all these events, phones calls are going to be the conveyance this year.

Quin got away yesterday, much to the tearful goodbye of his girlfriend. He left a mess as usually in the garage and the bedroom he uses, but hey that is what this weekend if for *grin*

I have a cousin who has arrived in the area yesterday. She phoned to see if we could get together. I'll head over to St. Albert after work today to my brother's where Sherri will be. They live about 40 minutes away from us. It will be a long day, but it will be nice to see Sherri.

My positives:

It appears that we will have a sunny day. The birds are chirping to beat the band.
Quin got away safely yesterday. It's a two day journey by vehicle to where they will unload the trailer they are hauling and load it into a plane to fly into the lodge. Trusting the Lord to grant them travel mercies. Much of the latter part of the road is a winter road and very rough.
My cousin Sherri is in the area.
A chance to see my aunt and another cousin today also.
Being blessed with the gift of life.

Have a wonderful Thursday,
Hugs,
Wanda

YAy, it's Hump day!

Wednesday, June 08, 2011

On Monday's, the middle of the work week feels so far away. Then Wednesday finally arrives and you know you only have 3 more days to get through. Hump day...I'm at the top and now it's downhill towards Friday from here *grin*

We've entered that stage of our lives once again where every time the phone rings, you wonder if this is the phone call. Garry and Q arrived home yesterday with the news that Garry's Dad's functions are beginning to shut down. My prayer is that God is merciful and takes his Dad quickly and peacefully.

Gloomy day outside today. We had intermittent rain yesterday and it looks like that forecast holds for today also. The plus side of the rain...I don't have to go out and water my garden. I do see lovely little green things poking their heads through the soil though. YAY. My tomato plants are coming along nicely and the potatoes are all sprouting.

Quin leaves today for his season up north. It appears from all their bookings that he has a busy one ahead of him. Now if the fire situation just leaves them alone, I will be happy.

My Positives:
Friends and family.
I hopefully will have an opportunity to see a cousin who is visiting in our area this weekend.
My garden is coming along nicely.
Found out yesterday that both Shy and I will be allowed up to 10 days off with pay for bereavement. Not that we should need all of that time, but it's nice to know it is there for us.
Pay day today...yay, I can pay all the bills.
Having my faith.

Have a wonderful Day,
Hugs,
Wanda

    Hi Wanda.

First and foremost, you, Garry and his Dad and family are in my prayers.

I hope to be checking in on your blog as I travel. I know there's free wi-fi here and there along my route. But in case it gets too crazy difficult, have a great rest of June and a great July. I look forward to getting back to sparking regularly in August.

Take Care and thanks for being such a supportive friend.
Love to you and yours,
Nancy

For some reason I always seem to have a difficult time thinking up a blog entry title. On those days I resort to just the date, where are my creative juices? *grin*

A beautiful afternoon yesterday. I got home from work very tired and decided that sitting out on the back deck was in order. Grabbed the phone on my way out and gave Garry a call to see if he and Quin were almost home. Turns out that they hadn't even left his folks place yet. He and his brothers and Quin got looking at the deck on his parents place and decided that it was in dire need of repairs, so they decided to make a new deck for their place. Bless their hearts, that is one less thing that has to be taken care of. They should be leaving Garry says around 5 am this morning to head home.
I know that Quin has a lot to get done once he gets home. He leaves tomorrow to head up north for the fishing season.

My positives:
Sunshine yesterday afternoon, made for a wonderful time of sitting and relaxing on the deck.
A husband and son who put aside their own agenda to help out someone else.
Rain overnight to water my garden.
A good nights sleep. I went to bed at 8pm last night as I was so tired.
Being alive to enjoy all the details of each day, so many blessings and opportunities to learn and grow.
Friends and family.

Have a wonderful Tuesday, appreciate all that you are.

Hugs,
Wanda

May Gary and Quin have a safe trip home and Quin will get all his stuff in order for his trip up north. Glad you could have some relaxation time. Enjoy your evening.

Another week is now beginning. Somethings you know are going to occur, somethings you think are in the works and then there are the things that come at you that you are surprised about. My goal this week is to keep an open mind, a positive attitude and to roll with the punches. Lofty...maybe, but I'm sure going to try.

Garry and Q headed out yesterday morning to Kindersley. They had decided while talking after I went to bed the night before that it would be a good idea to go so that Q could say his goodbyes to his grandfather. The chances of Q being able to get back out from the north for his grandfather's funeral are not likely, so at least this way there will be closure. Garry's Dad was moved to Hospice care over the weekend and the fact that Garry's Mom and sister have been making funeral arrangements, gives one to believe that his passing will be soon. For his sake, I prayer so. Now that the cancer has spread to his one remaining lung, breathing is exceptionally difficult. Continued prayers for Jack would be appreciated.

My positives:
Although the glass table out on the deck is covered in frost this morning, it doesn't look like my plants were damaged. Of course, I've only seen the ones on the deck, the ones in the garden beds being further from the house, may be frosted, so I'm praying they are fine.
It looks like a sunny day is store for us.
Pay day this week.
The birds are starting to wake up and begin chirping. It's nice to hear them.
Garry and Q should be home again today. The house feels so empty when it's just me in it.
A new day, another chance to be all I desire to be.

Have a wonderful day,
Hugs,
Wanda

Prayers for Jack being said, for an easy as possible passing. It is too too hard to see a loved one suffer this way. *hugs*
Hope the rest of your plants have survived the frost. You really do have some gardening challenges where you live, don't you. :-)
