Where has the weekend gone!

Sunday, June 05, 2011

Wow, it's Sunday already and where has the weekend gone???

A busy weekend has been the reason time has whizzed by I'm thinking. Garry had to work yesterday and Q and I tackled all the running around chores and worked on renos.
The kids all came over for dinner which was wonderful. The temperature was very cold and damp outdoors, so out came the big chili pot and in went the fixings for veggie chili. It smelled so good as it simmered away all day. Chili and garlic bread for dinner. Q's girlfriend and Shy's boyfriend joined us and we had a very good evening of just sharing memories and laughter.

Garry's Dad was moved to hospice yesterday so it was a tough day in many ways for Garry's family. Having the memory sharing and laughter was exactly what Garry needed last night.

My positives:

The sun is burning away all the rain clouds.
I am pretty sure that once I take all the covers off my garden beds that I will find that my plants all survived the frost we have had the past couple of nights.
The birds are all chirping and making cheerful noises this morning. It sounds like they are excited about the sun shining also!
Felt better after I got my floors all washed yesterday. I will have to do them all over again as there is lots of plaster dust still, but I at least felt like they were cleaner.
The new reno'd area in the LR/DR is almost ready for us to paint and then the closets can be installed and all the trimmings. I'm so excited to have a functionaly and useable space. I hated wasted space in a house.
Family, friends, how they bless our lives.
Being alive, learning and growing and becoming the person that I desire to be.

Have a wonderful blessed day.

Congrats on the renovations being ALMOST done! Hope you got outside today to do the work you wanted. After church today, we had a picnic--my youngest is graduating HS so we went to the "welcome new freshman" picnic--for the last time. It was bittersweet to me.

Hope your week goes well.

It's cool around the edges this morning

Saturday, June 04, 2011

Bless Garrys heart. Yesterday at noon he came home for lunch and covered up all my garden beds and moved the potted plants into the shed. The temperatures dropped during the day and then down to only 1 above last night! I'm hoping that my little plants survived the night. It was cold!

I'll head outdoors in a bit to check things out. It's suppose to warm back up today, so think it will be safe to remove the coverings.

Garry has to work today, so Q and I will make an attempt to finish off as much of the reno stuff in the house as possible. It's like having a monkey on my back with all the dust that is around. I want to get it cleaned up and the floors and everything else washed, but it's senseless when I know that there is more sanding to do. Oh well, I'll just focus on the end result and the path there won't be so bad *grin*

My Positives:
Its the weekend.
With Q's help, so much has been accomplished.
Garry Dad has survived this past week and his brother from BC has arrived yesterday to get to see their Dad.
Lots of new books to read.
It's a new day, a blank slate to write on.
A nice sleep in this morning.
The kids are all coming over to dinner this evening. A big pot of veggie chili is in the works.

Have a great and silly Saturday,

So many great words begin...

Friday, June 03, 2011

So many great words begin with "F".
Fabulous, Friday, Family, Fun, Future, Faithful, Freedom, Focus, and the list goes on.
All such positive words. Sure there are negative words that begin with the same letter, but why focus on them when there are so many other great words to wrap yourself around. How many can you fill your day with? Interesting exercise in thought...notice how you feel when you think of negative words and then notice how you feel when you think of positive words. Which would you choose?

My positives:
A great family meal last evening at the girls place. Kaeli roasted fennel, asparagus and zucchini on the BBQ...mmmmm, so good.
Quin ....bless his heart is spending his time finishing off plastering and sanding, finishing off the closet area in preparation for it's new use.
It's Friday!
I'm seeing signs in my garden beds of lovely little bits of green...my seeds are sprouting. YAY.
Although it will be a busy weekend of cleaning...I'm looking forward to the end result of no more dust! (drywall dust is so invasive!)
My new desk location at work is proving to be very helpful in decreasing the intensity of my headaches. Over time, I'm very hopeful that the headaches can be eliminated completely.
Begin able to spend a nice part of my day out of doors once I get home from work. Being out of doors and in contact with nature, fresh air etc, helps to ground me. Nature is a great healer of many ills.
Learning to recognize the blessings in my daily life.

Have a wonderful and fabulous Friday.

Putting one foot in front of the other...

Thursday, June 02, 2011

I WILL continue to move forward as I put one foot in front of the other. I WILL reach my goals.
These are my mantras for the month of June.

Yesterday as a struggle day energy wise. For some reason, staying awake was hard work. Not sure why I was so tired, but I came home from work and actually had a nap!

The wind was blowing like crazy yesterday, still, sitting out on the back deck was pleasant. The sun was shining down, the wind was blowing and it was just nice to close my eyes and have a nap.

My Positives:
My family, my friends and being alive.
Making head way towards my goals.
It's a new day to embrace.
Being blessed so abundantly in all ways.

Have a wonderful Thursday. Get enthusiastic about being alive.

Enthusiasm is one thing that has been lacking for me the last couple of days. If there's one thing I have learned about myself in all these years, is that it takes me a long time to build a routine and change is not my strong suit. Part of me is saying, "Don't even bother trying to get a routine going, because in about two weeks you'll be traveling North and the whole routine will change again." So here I sit in limbo. I'm going to try and snap out of it tomorrow.
Have a fabulous Friday. Enjoy your cool air. Send some of that nice Canadian air down here to Texas, won't ya? ( we broke a high temperature record today. 101 degrees in June)
Take care.

June 1st...a new month

Wednesday, June 01, 2011

It's so nice to get up in the morning now and actually see some daylight! I'm appreciating these days as they seem to pass so quickly.

My new hardwood floors are complete and they look wonderful. I need to give all the floors a good wash though as there is so much dust everywhere. With the doors being open all the time and everyone walking back and forth with shoes on, they certainly show the dust and dirt. I'm not worrying too much about them at this point though as there will be more dust as we begin sanding the drywall patches. Next step will be to get the painting all done and the new cabinets installed. Like I say, if you are going to dream, you might as well dream big. *grin*

My positives:
Wonderful new floors....pictures to follow later.
A chat with a couple of Garry's relatives last evening.
My garden is showing signs of some of the seeds I planted beginning to poke their heads through the dirt. I see signs of the beets already! My tomatoes are beginning to enjoy the larger growing room also.
Having faith and others to lean on.

Have a great day, it's already mid week so only a couple more to go until a weekend once again. *grin*

You gave me a harsh reality check! It is going to be the weekend again in a couple of days. Makes me feel like June will slip right through my fingers if I don't wake up and make it count! Phew. Thanks for the wake-up call. It's going to be a busy month with preparations and big travel. The trek to NY! I better get to work here.
Have a great WEDNESDAY. I was just remarking that it still feels like Monday to me, since it's a new start to a new month! I better wake up and smell the coffee! (and perhaps have another cup to get me going here!)
Have a great day. Holding your concerns in prayer!
