Back to working world today...

Monday, May 09, 2011

Well holidays are over and it's now back to the working world once again. Part of me is going "oh yay, a routine once again" and the other part is going " oh fudge...I still have much to do at home" *grin*

Mother's day was great. The girls came over for supper. We had roasted veggies, roasted corn on the cob and they tried out some new "hot dogs" that were gluten and lactose free, so the label said. Apparently they weren't too bad.

I'm attempting to change up our diet, seeing if getting rid of gluten and lactose will make a difference with these headaches. At this point, I'm willing to try anything. I have more reading to do in regards to this, but if anyone has any suggestions or ideas, I'm a willing listener.

It's nice to see the morning is actually attempting to make itself known now at 4:30 am. I can just see the beginning of light in the eastern sky. Yay, no more heading to work in the dark.

My goal this week...to ensure that I take my break at lunch time each day and take myself for a walk. We have some great walking paths around where I work, so it's time to start making use of them. I'm hoping that not only will the exercise be good for me, but just being outdoors in the sun shine help to keep me motivated.

My positives:

I've had a good and productive time off work.
Warmer weather and sun shine.
Almost time to reclaim my house space with getting all my seedlings out doors and planted into their new home.
A nice visit with our neighbors yesterday.
Our girls.
Phone call from Quin.
Positive people in my life.
Being able to count my blessings.

Have a great and wonderful Monday,
Hugs,
Wanda

Wanda - my heart goes out to you and I hope you can get on the other side of those headaches very soon! I'm just now getting some pain free days myself. It takes a lot of energy to keep moving forward - smiling helps. I know you know this. Glad to see you had a wonderful Mother's Day. emoticon

Happy Mother's Day

Sunday, May 08, 2011

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mother's in Sparkland.

We had a good rain storm move through here yesterday and last night. Looks like the sun will be shining though today. Once things dry off, we will put out the patio furniture and enjoy the day.

The girls are joining us for supper tonight. I'm heading out to the grocery store this morning to get groceries. It was raining so hard yesterday that I decided to wait until today to do this much needed chore.

Yesterday, Garry and I took advantage of the rain and took the day off of working on the "to do" list. We headed into the city and made the rounds of the various stores that carried office furniture. I'm looking for a lateral filing cabinet and so fare haven't found one that I think is worth the price that they are asking. Besides...I don't want a dark wood one...light wood or white seems to be non-existant. Oh well, eventually I'll find what I want at a price that I am willing to pay.

The furnance has stopped working properly once again. On the chilly side in here this morning. Good thing we have the spring/summer to get it working properly again. Not sure what the problem is this time. Could be as a result of the basement flooding, we have to get it checked out.

I'm taking the day and going to enjoy what ever it brings to me. Hope that you will do the same.

Hugs,
Wanda

So sad...holidays are almost over.

Saturday, May 07, 2011

It's hard to believe that my holidays are almost over. The good part is that although we had a "staycation", we got alot accomplished. There is still lots to do on the list, but some of the very big projects are now done...yay..Thanks Garry for all your hard work.

We completed the computer/craft room yesterday. All the flooring, painting, and baseboards are in. I'm pleased with it. I've sorted, tossed, recycled and cleaned as I've put things back into the room. The closet and shelves are all organized and ready for me to easily grab things as the urge to be creative kicks in. *grin*

The back deck looks great, all dry now, so we can put out the patio furniture today. It is supposed to rain this afternoon, so we'll see if we get to enjoy sitting out there today or not. We noticed that now the fence doesn't look as nice as the deck, so guess what's been added to the "to do" list!!

I've told Garry that in my books the next priority is getting the garden areas ready. We have until the end of this month to get them prepared as planting needs to occur at that point. We are both so sore and tired from all we have been doing that container planting is looking better each day *grin*

Mother's Day tomorrow and I'm looking forward to the girls coming over for supper. Quin is off fishing this week with a couple of his buddies.

Today's chores include garden work, then off to the grocery store to stock up on food, finish putting the furniture back into the computer/craft room and possibly enjoy some sitting on the back deck.

My Positives:

A hubby who gives up his holiday time to help me tackle the "to do" list. We have made such progress with it. Unfortunately as we've accomplished things, it seems that more has been added! Oh well, those items too will eventually get done. Only two major projects for indoors...install the new flooring in the LR/DR and turn the closet into a built in buffet and hutch area.

Mother's day tomorrow.

Girls are coming over tomorrow.

My cucumber plants are doing great as are the tomato plants. Once they are transferred outdoors and placed in their permanent growing locations, they should really beginning growing and producing.

Although it's back to work on Monday, I have had a good time off.

Have a great day, enjoy the opportunities that present themselves to you to learn and grow.
Hugs,
Wanda

Congrats on all the great things you and Gary accomplished during your time off, a job well done. Enjoy your Mother's Day. Me and the girls had a great time today. It looks like we may get rain tonight, but that's ok maybe it'll be nice again during the day like today.

Shirl

They say that all good things must come to an end. It's a darn shame, but at least you have an exciting preview of what retirement could be like. Something to work toward. Enjoy your day and Happy Mother's Day to you.

Yay, it's Fabulous Friday!

Friday, May 06, 2011

I woke up this morning to the sun shining and the promise of another wonderful day.

Yesterday was more items crossed off the "to do" list. We got the deck all complete now except for the corner that we moved the BBQ to. Now that the rest of the deck is all dry, we can move the BBQ back to it's original location and finish off the small section where we had to move it to. It was too heavy to move off of the deck, so figured doing it this way was the easiest option.

We weren't able to start anything with the garden beds, as the deck was (is) still not completely dried from the coating we put on it. All we needed was to create dust that would stick to the newly coated deck after working so hard to get it cleaned and preped for the new sealant. I noticed that it is still a bit tacky to touch this morning. Hopefully once the sun hits the deck that will help to dry it completely. Kismet (cat) was not too impressed to go out the back door this morning and find that her little feet were sticking slightly as she ran across the deck.

The painting is all complete in the computer/craft room. All that remains is re-installing the baseboards. I've been sorting through all the items that used to be in that room and only those things that I know I want to keep are going back in there. I have lots of bits and pieces of craft materials that I am going to take to work with me and donate to our bookmobile staff for their use with the children.
Lots of things that just hit the dustbin. All my scrapbook things are now organized and ready for me to start tackling those projects once again. I now have easy access to all the old pictures, so should make getting them put into scrapbooks much easier.

Today's projects: getting the new baseboards painted and installed in the computer/craft room so that we can say that room is completed! Getting my two new apple trees planted. Making a start on the new garden beds...those need to be complete within the next couple of weeks as my garden needs to get planted by the end of May.

Once the priority outside work is done, it will be back indoors to get the closet in the LR/Dr turned into a built in buffet and hutch, get the painting done in there and install the new hardwood flooring. We want to replace the front door this year also with one that has glass in it. I hate not being able to see who is on the other side of the door before opening it. We have 3 windows that need to be replaced this year also. And the list goes on *grin*

My Positives:
My computer/craft room is almost completely organized and ready for use.
We will be able to put the patio furniture out on the deck and begin using it this weekend.
Quin will be away this weekend, but the girls will be coming over for Mother's day supper.
Tremendous head way on our "to do" list. As each item gets crossed off and we look at the list, it's like a huge weight has been lifted.
Being blessed with time to accomplish all that we need to accomplish.
My family, my friends and God.

Have a fabulous Friday.
Hugs,
Wanda

Progress..it's all in how you measure it

Thursday, May 05, 2011

Great progress was made yesterday in that fact that we finally, finally got the new flooring in to the computer room. An all day project and although it turned out very well, we were disappointed in the quality of the cork flooring. The cork that we have elsewhere in the house is awesome, but this almost feels and looks like its a laminate or imitation of the real stuff. It doesn't go in as nicely as the original cork flooring, but seeing as it only the computer/craft room we will live with it. At least it is done and we can cross another item off the "to do" list. Now its just a matter of replacing the baseboards. I started doing touch ups with paint and have most of the inside of the closet all painted. I'll finish that off this morning, when I can open the window wide for ventilation.

We didn't get to the deck yesterday as the flooring took longer than we had thought it would. Today, that will be the project as well as getting all the supplies to build my tiered planter and hopefully my raised garden beds.

I will also go through everything and weed/repurpose/recycle before it goes back into the computer/craft room. It's a great opportunity to get things cleaned out. Only what needs to be in there is going back in.

Finally got my results from my MRI...good news...no signs of potential aneurysm issues, bad news...still no idea what is causing the headaches. I have another appointment to see the doctor on the 24th and will continue going for my cranial massage treatments. I'll focus more on my meditation times, perhaps that will be my answer. I would see a chiropractor, except that they insist on cracking my neck. I used to go regularly until I had one doctor that scared me so bad that I haven't been able to go back. I know that misalignment can cause all kinds of problems, so will have to pray on this one.

My positives:

No sign of an aneurysm.
New flooring in the computer/craft room. Only some touch up painting and the base boards to re-install and that room will be done.
Looks like a great day for working outdoors.
The restoration crew for our basement is supposed to be here next week to begin putting things back together. YAY!
The "to do" list is actually getting smaller...we do keep adding to it, but things are getting done...woo hoo! We hope that by the end of the month the list will complete.
Shyra brought me all my holds from the library yesterday...yay, more books to read.
Blessings...they are so plentiful and so appreciated.

Have a wonderful day,
Hugs,
Wanda

It is great that you don't have aneurisms to worry about, but what a mystery your headaches are! Could it be environmental?
