It's Earth Day....

Tuesday, April 22, 2008

It's Earth day and I can't find the earth! We have had more snow in the past 3 days than we had all winter! Mother Nature has been nice though, it finally stopped snowing about 2pm today. Even had a little sunshine peeking out. Wasn't overly impressed with the weather forecast though for the rest of the week. Wed, Thurs and Friday we are supposed to get rain/snow mix and then sunshine finally on Saturday...woo hoo!
A great day despite all the snow. I was able to burn more calories before heading for work by shoveling and then lots of walking today as I seemed to be up and down from my desk more than usual. Of course, if I had to get up and go somewhere, I made sure that I took the longest route to where I was going....hey all's fair in burning calories, right?
My daughters cooked supper tonight, so Mom had a night off...I knew I had raised them proper! LOL.
Nothing exciting going on my doorstep, just a lovely day of being.
Lots of positive and great things in the blogs I've been reading. Oh and my holds arrived at the library...I'm looking forward to reading the one titled "Smile For No Good Reason: simple things you can do to get happy now by Dr. Lee Jampolsky. It just sounds like my kind of book. So I'll bid you all a good night, happy dreams and an evening filled with wonder. I'm off to read my book....it's me time!
PS...borrowing books from the library, is one of the ways that I help out our planet.

Wanda - I really do envy you getting all that snow. I know it's not nice to be envious of someone... but I love snow. Used to love shoveling it too before I had this arm surgery.

I love books! That book sounds good. I'm going to check our library to see if they have it. Let me know how it is....

Earth Day.... well, when I take a walk I take a bag & pick up as much litter as I can around the neighborhood. I guess that could count as helping out our Earth. I dispise litter. Especially along the beautiful Ohio River & the surrounding woods. People don't care anymore. Let the other fella clean it up. Grrr.

It's nice that you took the long route at work to get a few more steps in. It all counts! Enjoy that book you're reading ... hope your day is another good one today!

Earth to Wanda... Earth to Wanda... I'm down here... lol Keep shoveling... Just a little more... hee hee Yea Right! LOL

Wow I really can't believe that you are to get yet even more snow/rain... Well must be a reason for it right? All those beautiful flowers are just waiting their turn to pop up for you to enjoy... But glad that that sun peeked out for a few minutes...

What a treat to have your daughter make dinner... I usually regret having Andy cook... To much mess that I have to clean up afterwards... LOL

Oh and that book "Smile For No Good Reason" sound like something you would enjoy... Hey I probably would too... I may have to check it out...

I wonder what it says about an unexpected Giant Snowball rolling up your sidewalk... look out.... Crash... Splat! oops I think it broke your shovel... lol NOT!!! hee hee

Stay warm and enjoy that book you' re curled up with... And enjoy your "Wanda" time...

    Hi Wanda,
I can't believe snow for you still. Where do you live? The temp here is expected to be in the 70's tomorrow!! It goes up and down, but definitely no snow, but I'm down South in North Carolina.
I'm glad your books came in. Enjoy, That one sounds like agood one!
Yes, I thoroughly enjoyed my day today and my granddaughters little performance. LOL And the other 2 were pretty great once they got home too. So good all around!! Just love it.
Well, it's late and I'm tired and 6 comes awful fast and early, so I'll say good night for now. Have a great night and sweet dreams. Hugs.

Okay, enough already!

That white stuff just doesn't know when to quit!
My snow banks are getting so big that I'm having trouble getting the snow up on top! It doesn't help that the wind is blowing most of it back in my face as I attempt to throw it on the top of the bank! LOL. Mother nature has a warped sense of humor. LOL.
Despite all the snow we are getting, it is rather beautiful. All that quiet. Sounds are muffled. It's rather nice. Of course, the biggest plus is all the calories I am burning as I shovel it.

A great day today, busy at work, made the day go by fast. People actually were driving sensibly, so driving to pick up my daughter from her work was a calm experience. Someone was celebrating something over the weekend and brought in the remains of a huge cake for the staff to share and I wasn't even tempted! Woo Hoo. I also eliminated another 2 pounds this week! Go me! 1 more pound and I will have reached the 60 pound mark...even louder GO ME! Lots of positive blogs to read this evening. I find they are such a great way to unwind and really set the tone for the evening before having to head off to bed. Life is just plain fabulous.
Almost time to get ready for bed, 5 am comes early. Have a wonderful night all, review your day, find your positives and keep moving forward.
Hugs,
Wanda

Wow, it's still snowing? It's so hard to imagine that it could be still snowing in some parts of the world! I have not seen snow for 9 years, and that was on the ground.

Wanda - Sorry... I had to laugh at the visual of you out there shoveling & the snow just being flung right back at ya .... Stay tuned folks... our feature film... "Wanda Battling the Snow Drifts" coming to a theater near you! I guess it wasn't funny if you're the one shoveling but from my point of view, or comfy chair, I got a chuckle out of it. LOL

Surely it won't last much longer! April (snow) showers bring May snowdrifts.... er, I mean May flowers!

I'm proud of you for not even being tempted by the cake. Also on eliminating 2 more pounds! Yeah!! emoticon We'll have to party when you get to the 60 lb. mark!!!

I hope you slept well last night -
May your shoveling be light.
Just set yourself a good pace -
Keep the snow out of your face!
You can do it, no doubt -
Nothing else, just pout.
Look at the calories you'll burn -
Won't laugh, next may be my turn!

Ok..... enough already! LOL

I love how you describe the snow as being so beautiful... Now that is positive... lol Or crazy... not really sure which one... I know... It's positively Crazy! LOL Way to get those calories burned... Shoveling snow as it blows back into your face... The never ending job... lol But one things for sure...
You sure have a way of putting a positive spin on everything...

Oh and BTW!!!! WOO HOO!!!!! only 1 more to reach 60 lbs eliminated! WOW! You are doing so awesome...

Enjoy your evening my friend...

Thanks for sharing your day with me...

It's still coming down!

Sunday, April 20, 2008

It's still coming down out there...so much snow has made most of the roads impassable. The streets are like one track routes as it's hard to tell where the actual street is.
The plus side...the earth really needs this moisture and it's an awesome way to get out doors and burn some calories. So far today there have been four trips out to do shoveling. It's a lot of snow to move and it's heavy as there is lots of moisture in it.
So those of you with summerlike weather...gloat about your warm weather and sunshine, I'll just gloat about the calories I'm burning! lol.
It's been a wonderful day today, warm cups of tea, visiting with each other, reading our books and spending time catching up with friends via the internet. Can't complain about a day like this now can you?

Hope you have all had a wonderful day.

Wanda, I sure hope that you saved some of that snow for a hot blistery day in June or July.. Wouldn't that be nice if we could turn it on & off just like that.. I'm not the Snow Queen, but oh no the heat will be on.. The heat is on.. Nanananananana Take care & I know that you are getting plenty of exerise.. Love & Hugs, Always Polly

    I love your blog, Wanda.
Congrats on getting the extra exercise and burning those calories. Hopefully it isn't too cold there for you. A cup of tea or hot chocolate (sugar fee, of course) would just hit the spot.
I love the snow when we have it and also enjoy shoveling it. Of course, I only have to shovel the sidewalks and sometimes the driveway. Now I have to push mow 2 acres of grass, so I am still get my exercise. But I think would rather be shoveling the snow, I can do it as I want. Grass doesn't wait. It just keeps growing!
Have a great day, but be safe!!!
God bless you.
Hugs,
Helen

Wanda - I envy you with the snow. I actually love the stuff but can't shovel it anymore because of my fistula in my arm. Shovel some for me, will ya?

Ouch! Hey, I said shovel.... not throw a snowball at me. Gee. Now I can't see to type with all this snow in my face.... (grumble grumble.)

Glad you made the most of your day & got some calories burned! You rock!

We got hit today!

Saturday, April 19, 2008

Well the snow storm that has been predicted and has been falling all around us has hit with a vengence today! We've got snow! AGAIN! The roads are absolutely horrid...so other than having to make a quick run to the store...we have stayed home...much safer that way. I did get the chance to go to the indoor walking track before the storm really hit. So did get my exercise in today. WOO HOO! It was enjoyable doing the track today as it sits above the main part of the building and they were having volleyball tournaments going on in the center. Something different to watch as you made continuous laps around the track.
The good thing about this storm, is you know that it is not going to last for long, next week is supposed to be raining...go figure!

I did see a very humorous sign today in the store window while waiting for my daughter to pick up sunflower seeds. It was so good that I went into the store to tell the employee how great the sign was! He laughed and said the credit goes to his dad.

Sign: You can win a free ride in a police car just by shoplifting in this store. We will put your name in the newspaper so that your friends and family can see it and be proud of you.

It just cracked me up...how original and so to the point.

A very relaxing and great day for reading all the books that seem to be calling my name...just had to decide which one I wanted to read first! All the books that I had placed holds on at the library seemed to come available at the same time...so busy evenings ahead trying to get them all read. What a tough life! lol.

Have a great evening everyone. Watch out for the flying snowballs...the weather is just perfect for the nice big wet ones!

Good Morning my friend... Wow sounds like that storm got a little crazy... Glad you're home safe and warm curled up with a good book... Sounds divine...

Oh and BTW... Those big snowballs MELTED before they got here... We just got hit with a BIG RAIN... But only lasted a few minutes... lol So I figured it just had to be your Snowball... LOL
Thanks... The garden and flowers loved the drink... LOL

Hope today is a good one for you too... Stay safe...

Wanda - I not only read about your snow... I felt it (I say as I'm drying off - geez, that was wet!) LOL Next time warn me it's coming & I'll duck & let it hit Kevin instead!

Your walk around the track sounded nice. Yes, a volleyball game sounds more interesting to watch as you walk then just going in a circle...or oval as the case may be!

I used to read books all the time & still do when I get a chance. But before the computer came along, you'd catch me with a book around always. Still love to read. I get so engrossed in a story that I find myself becoming the main character....or at least the female lead! LOL

Be careful out there in the snow. Sounds like it's too wet to even make a snowman but those killer snowballs of yours were something else let me tell ya!

BeeHive dorm is Awesome!

Friday, April 18, 2008

-10 C outdoors today, but so far no snow! We seem to be under a dome that keeps all the snow away at the moment. We are surrounded by snow fall warnings and highways that are closed due to trecherous snow and ice. Weather news tonight is still saying we are going to get hit with it. The blessing out of all this snow is it will add much needed moisture to the ground.
Great day at work...the day just whizzed by. I was so busy that I almost missed my lunch break!
Looking forward to a pleasant weekend. We are meeting with friends tomorrow night for supper. We haven't seen these people for several years so should be a great time of catching up.

I'm combining my positive blog with an invitation to anyone who would like to join GonnabfitUniversity team. There are weekly challenges that really help you to stay motivated and encouraged. I belong to the Beehive dorm and we are always happy to have new dormies. If you are interested check out this link http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/groups_
individual.asp

Let me know if you would like to join Beehive dorm and I will forward your name off to our head Dormie.
There are weekly challenges as well as ongoing challenges. Friendship is great, as the dorms are a smaller group of people that really get to know one another. I was invited to join and am really glad that I accepted the invitation.

Hope everyone has a wonderful evening. Keep smiling, make others wonder what you are up to!

Oh I'm running late... Just couldn't get here yesterday... I think it was that storm that kept me away... lol There was a dome and I couldn't get through... lol
Brrr Sounds like a bad storm you have. Hope that snow stays away and all the bad stuff continues to go around you...

What a nice evening you have planned too... dinner with old friends... It's so much fun getting together and all the memories just start coming and that leads to lots of smiles and laughing...
I always end up acting like a teenager again... what fun...
Enjoy your dinner... Have a toast for me... lol

Your Beehive dorm invite sounds like fun... I'll have to take a look see to see what kinds of challenges they have... I'm kinda limited on what I can do right now... So I'll let you know... Thanks for thinking of us...

Have a nice day and stay safe and warm... I promise to send more sunshine soon... lol emoticon

Wanda - I'm glad you had a great day at work today. I loved it when I was working & the night went fast for me. Your dinner date tonight sounds like it'll be fun. Wish I could join ya! What's on the menu? LOL

That's odd that the snow's all around you but you're getting none so far! Here I imagined you getting bombarded! What's -10 degrees mean converted to farenheit, do you know? I never was good at the metric system.

I'm glad you're enjoying your BeeHive Dorm. I think my friend Barb has joined that too. I'm not sure if I'd be up to all those challenges or if I could even do them with my tiredness from dialysis but thanks for the invite!

Take care & Have a Sparkling Good Day!
