The birthday surprise gets revealed today!

Yay, no more having to keep a secret! Today is Garry's birthday and this evening when the family if all gathered for dinner, the big surprise will be revealed. Thank goodness, keeping the secret has been harder than I thought it would be. Especially for such a long time.

I have to make a quick run to Costco this morning for some last minute supplies and then I should be ready. Garry wants BBQed ribs for his birthday supper, baked potatoes and salad. Yay, something for me to eat! He also wanted brownies for his "cake". That is in the oven right now.

I may be on sporadically now for the next few days. I will try to log on when I can. I'm taking my laptop with me, but as I don't know our schedule or what we will all be doing, there is no guarantee that I will get on at any set time.

Positive Quotes of the Day may or not get posted...sorry! I know that the team will all step up to the ensure that the daily challenges are posted so not worried about those. I'm just going to enjoy my holiday! Woo Hoo.

My positives:
After this evening, I know longer have to keep such a big secret. I'm excited about going away on a holiday and to somewhere fun.
The kids will all be here tonight for dinner.

Our street is now cleared completely...no more getting stuck. Unfortunately it has been cleared just in time for another predicated snow fall tonight! Go figure!
I had a good chuckle over my horoscope today: Unexpected events. Change of plans. Be flexible. Rely on your intution. Be decisive. Travel possible and favored. Be social. Not sure what might be changing, but the travel is still there, so the rest just doesn't matter*grin* I'll be flexible today.

Yay, the snow plows have come by!

Yay, our street is now partially cleared. The snow plows have been down the street and we are no longer in any danger of getting stuck in all the snow. The windrow is still down the middle of the street though, hopefully they will be by soon to remove that. Meanwhile, we drive down the wrong side of the street to get to the connecting street. It's amazing the amount of snow. The windrow is about 3.5 feet tall, there is no way you can crawl over it.

Warnings were out on the news last night for people to be checking their roofs. Two more flat roof businesses had portions of their roofs cave in from the weight of the snow. Yesterday we experienced freezing rain for a couple of hours in the morning, which adds to the weight of the snow. Garry was out checking things on our roof. It looks like we will be okay as far as he can tell. Our roof is slanted pretty well, so as the temperature has warmed up, the snow is sliding off the roof. YAY
The rain that happened yesterday morning was an unusual occurance in January and an extremely hazardous one. As the rain fell, it was immediately freezing on the ground, needless to say there were multiple accidents. Walking on the sidewalks was more a choice of shuffle and slide...one did not take the chance of picking up your feet. We even had a police car get smucked by the library yesterday morning, thankfully all the sirens we listened to didn't involve any serious injuries.
Forecast was for more rain this morning. Think I'll wait awhile before heading out to do the shopping that I need to do!

My positives:

I'm on holidays...although I still woke up at my usual time this morning!
I have the choice of waiting until the roads are safer before venturing out to do all my errands.
Only one more day to get through before telling Garry that we are going away on Sunday.
I've got my lists made and I'm ready to tackle the "to do's" on them.
I am blessed in so many awesome ways.

Your tales of snow and windrows of remarkable height make me acutely aware of what a lucky girl I am here in Texas. I spoke to Tim's cousin today. He is on the "Artic Slopes" of Alaska working for an oil company and he said it was warm today: 23 degrees below zero. He says "you get used to it". I say "No thank you." Enjoy your holidays. The nice thing about getting up early on your day off, is that you have extra time that is your own. Yippee! I look forward to the tale of the telling. Have a great Friday. Yay, my last work day of the week, as of tomorrow, I'm on holidays until Feb 7th. Even though the work week has been very short for me, it seems like it has taken forever to get to today. Just like when you are a kid and waiting for Christmas!

Snowplows still haven't made their appearance on our street. Signs are still up indicating that they are going to be coming...just don't know when. With the warmer temperatures we are having at the moment, the streets are becoming almost impassable. People are getting stuck as they attempt to get out of their driveways, which in turn chews the roads up even more. Ahhhh, winter in Canada!
The plus side of the road conditions...neighbors are helping neighbors!

My positives:
A lovely visit with Kaeli last evening. She stopped in to drop off her carry-on suitcase for me and stayed to eat supper. YAY.
Garry has finally decided what he wants for his birthday supper. In our family the birthday person gets to choose the meal on their birthday. Now that he has decided, I know what needs to be made.
Garry was able to get some of the snow off the roof last evening. Still lots up there, but hopefully it won't cause any problems. There have been several places in the city that have had their roofs collapse with the weight of all the snow. They appear to all be businesses with flatter roofs. We haven't heard of any homes, so that is a plus.
Last day of work for a few days. Now I can concentrate on getting ready to go away.
Life is good, I have my health, I'm loved and can love, and my family is awesome.

So pleased the time has finally arrived. :-) It must feel like it has taken forever, specially with Garry inadvertently throwing spanners in the works at intervals. We don't get much snow. I think our winter total is usually around 16 - 18 inches. If we get 4 inches at a time it's a lot. I can't imagine what it would be like with the amount you get. The kids would have a great time with it. Have a great day! Report Inappropriate Comment

The countdown is on for me! Only four more days until Garry's birthday surprise can be revealed. Then we leave on Sunday, so many details and last minute things to do. Our flight leaves in the morning, Garry works all day Saturday, so I'm thinking that I'll still be doing the little things on my own. *grin*
I still have to firm up plans for Garry's birthday supper at our place and let the kids know. Hmmmm what to do first.

I'm a list maker, so that, for me, is a huge help in getting things done. I just have to decide on what to make for dinner that night.

My positives:

Everything! *grin*

Getting to go on holidays to somewhere fun and exciting.
Only having four more days of trying to keep a secret!
Trusting my guidance, that all will come together as it should.
Only two more days of work this week. (well work at my place of work!)
Nice temperatures for most of this week, no snow in the forecast and it looks like there shouldn't be any weather delays on Sunday when we have to fly.
I have health.
I am blessed.

It's motivation Monday once again and I'm motivated to keep on going towards my goals of being active, healthy and being the best person that I can be.
How do I motivate myself, you might ask? I "just do it". I change my attitude from "can't" to "can". It's all about choice....mine! No one else is responsible for this body, mind and soul but me. Borrowing the lovely words of our Nancy Jane..."I'm the boss of me"

I have a short work week ahead of me. I am on holidays as of Thursday...YAY! I only have until Friday to keep Garry's birthday surprise a secret...thank goodness! It's tougher than I thought it would be as I'm used to talking freely about things with him. I catch myself so many times almost saying something that gives it away! The girls are going share the duties of tending to the cat while we are gone( and shoveling if need be!). I had the opportunity this weekend, while out shoveling snow to speak with our neighbor and let him know that we will be away for a few days at the end of the month. That the girls will be in and out and generally just alerting him so they are aware of any comings and goings. All the little details are being put in place.

I did not get my vision board completed this past week as planned. I discovered that I need more "pictures" to fill in my board. Decided to issue the vision board challenge to everyone on the team this week as I've had so many comments about others wanting to do one also. I WILL accomplish it this week.

My positives:
The back deck is finally cleared off...thanks in whole to hubby! It took him almost 3 hours to get it all done. The snow was a good 3.5 feet deep and packed down from all the weight of it. Unbelievable amount of snow. We have never seen this much snow here before.
A short work week!
Yay, we leave on holidays on Sunday.
Garry's birthday on Friday...thank goodness...this keeping secret thing is hard!
The signs are up for the street clearing to be done...they put them up on Friday which means probably by Friday of this week they will be cleared! We get to drive down the wrong side of the street again! lol
Just being alive and enjoying the experience.

Thanks. I will be the boss of me today. So far today I have done my 100 things in 20 minutes assignment, been given a sub assignment and then had it taken away moments later. I had a chat with Ben who wandered in from last night's work party (their belated Holiday celebration) at 9 o'clock this morning. (great party!) The chat was friendly in nature. No reason to scold an adult who is the boss of his ownself. And I'm now sparking. Right after this I am going to set up my vision project. Open up a card table and collect my materials.
