This morning I went out for a walk before the day really began in my household. My husband had gotten up earlier than usual and made a nice breakfast for the two of us, so I was fueled up and ready to get some exercise. I was rather amazed at the number of people out jogging at that early time in the morning. I had a great opportunity to say "good Morning" to 29 people during my 45 minute walk! It was actually rather nice to realize how many others are on the same path to keeping or working towards a healthier lifestyle. The weather was cool this morning, just right for walking, by this afternoon we reached an temperature of +23 c (73.4 F). My husband and I laughed as we drove to home depot this afternoon about how this was the first time this year we were driving with the windows down!
Spent the afternoon relaxing on the deck (we brought out all the lawn furniture today), reading a book and enjoying the quiet and the sun. Also dreaming about the new deck that we would like to build this year!
My husband decided that a BBQ was in order for tonight's meal, so BBQ'd lemon/pepper chicken breasts, rice and alfredo vegetables. Salad as a side dish. He's a right good chef with the BBQ....I love this time of year when he does the cooking! lol.
Good thing I went for a walk this morning, because other than walking around Home Depot (which took us an hour, too many things to see lol), I was basically lazy today.
Hope everyone had a wonderful day and just enjoyed being.

Hi Wanda. How nice that you passed so many people on your morning walk. Just wondering how early you got going? We went out about 8:30. I had to wait for the girls to eat breakfast.

There's nothing wrong with dreaming about a new deck. I'd love to have a deck. Nice of your hubby to BBQ dinner tonight. You need & deserve a break!

This was one of those days that I planned nothing & just did what I wanted too. I think they're the best kind. Glad you enjoyed your relaxing day! ((((Hugs)))) Marla

Woo Hoo, I think we are getting a taste of Summer!

Saturday, April 12, 2008

Today, we bypassed Spring altogether and headed straight into a day of Summer! +19c today. It was absolutely wonderful. Warm sunshine, people walking around in shorts and tank tops (we northerers are a tough breed!) Supposed to be the same tomorrow. I just love it when the sun is shining and you feel so alive.
Have had a super day today. My day started off with my monthly massage. It's my treat for staying on track each month. Today, I arranged for my husband to also have a treatment. He has been under so much stress for the past few weeks with having to cover management positions as well as do his own job. Today he had the day off and what a great opportunity to help out his day! It's so nice when you are able to do something special for someone else that they weren't expecting. Fills your heart with such a warm feeling.
Heard from Nancy Jane today, and all is well in her world. Kathee3 has gone on vacation and stopped in to say goodbye.
Marla had a relaxing day, which inspired the rest of us to think about enjoying the moment also. Kathy shared an adorable picture of her dog when he was a puppy....one of those "awwwww how cute" pictures...thanks Kathy! Donna, I'm stopping by in a few moments to say hi, put the tea kettle on!
My son phoned and hopes to now get home to see us on Monday, he wasn't able to make it the last time. He got called back to work. So now I have something great to look forward to on Monday.
Yep, it was one beautiful, sunshine filled day today. Going to have to bring the lawn furniture out!
Have an great evening.

A busy day....

Friday, April 11, 2008

What a busy day today, started off with a 3.5 hour drive to Calgary on a bus, a very comfortable bus, filled with library people from school and public libraries. You get a bus full of people all going on a shopping spree and spending their budgets and you have a very excited and noisy busload. Then there was me...I only had meetings, but they were very productive and fun and I was still like a kid in a candy store when we toured the warehouse filled with BOOKS! Then at 3pm we all piled on the bus again and headed back to Edmonton, another 3.5 hours that for some reason felt like 5 hours! A long day but a great day.
My youngest daughter came with us and had a tour of the warehouse and all the departments and was able to ask lots of questions about the jobs there. She is 20 and still not sure what she wants to do for a career, just knows that she would really like to work with books in some capacity. She worked for Chapter/Indigo bookstore for 3 years before leaving for Australia for 3 months but didn't enjoy the customer service part of it, she wouldn't mind being behind the scenes more. So was a productive day for her also.
Now I'm at home, reading all the great blogs and catching up on everyone's day and looking forward to an evening of relaxing...which is what I am going to go and do now.

Have a wonderful evening everyone,

I didn't think you would be posting because of your long trip... You just couldn't wait to get home and read all the positive things going on, could you... LOL... It's Positively addictive! LOL
Glad you made it home safe and sound... And you even got to share the day with your daughter. How wonderful that she was able to ask some questions and explore some new ideas on what she may want as a career.

Enjoy your weekend...

Wanda, You sound like you're tired but a good tired! I'm glad you enjoyed your day today, even better because it was spent with your daughter!
Did you buy any books or just go for the meeting? I've never been to a book warehouse before. It sounds like a huge library!
I'm glad your trip was a safe one & now you can relax for the weekend.

It helps to be crazy where I work!

Thursday, April 10, 2008

Usually Friday is the day that silliness runs amuck in our department at work, but for some reason today was just a hoot!
Spontaneous songs erupted at the least provocation, with everyone joining in whether they knew the words or not! Our supervisor usually has his own version of the songs and happily shares them with us all, much to our delight. He is very clever at the use of puns and can keep something going long after the rest of us have admitted defeat. A great day at work today, definitely a stress-less day in our department, we laughed it all away!
I'm thrilled as I see the ripple effect occurring more and more on SP with the number of people who are arriving at the conclusion that having a positive attitude creates positive results.
The sun was shining so nicely today (thanks Kathy for sending it my way from Florida!). I enjoyed a lovely long walk before supper time. A little breezy, you had to keep a jacket on, but nice walking weather.
My husband phoned me a couple of times today to see how my day was going and to also let me know that our son is going to try and stop in for a visit on his way home. It all depends on what time he gets away from his out of town job. Always a nice treat to visit with him so hope he can stop in. He's so great about calling us frequently though, so as long as we hear from him and know how things are with him, we are happy. Once a Mom always a Mom!
Tomorrow, I'm off to Calgary bright and early in the morning to spend the day at one of our vendors facilities. I won't be home until 7pm or so, so if you don't hear from tomorrow, it's cause I'm not home!
Enjoy your evening tonight and have a spectacular day tomorrow. Keep finding your positives and the negatives will get lost behind you.

A singing workplace that is not an opera house? Hmm! My office mate is a hummer; maybe I'll just have to add the words!

When I come to visit you, you must take me to your workplace!

By the way, you are absolutely right about chocolate and icecream! I love it. Thanks.

Wanda, I'm so glad your positive blogging is causing this ripple effect. What a joy you've brought to many hearts (mine included) just by always being so uplifting & happy. When I think back to starting SP & think of someone who's been the most positive influence in my life that would be you. It first started with you insisting we call our weight loss "elimination". Because if you lose something you may find it again...if you eliminate it, it's gone...out of the picture for good. That's what we want. I'll never forget that. I also believe positive attracts positive & I like "hanging around you"! Hope you don't mind! Will miss you tomorrow but enjoy the time spent with your Son! ((((Hugs)))) Marla

Blogging can be fun...

Wednesday, April 09, 2008

I missed blogging yesterday, by the time I finished my busy day, I just went to bed without checking in on the computer.

Still foggy and damp out this morning, but by afternoon, the sun was trying hard to shine and the temperature warmed up to a balmy +4 c . Had my last class this afternoon for the course I have been taking. Woo Hoo got my certificate. It was a long day though as I ended up putting in a 9 hour day, doesn't sound so long until you factor in that I up at 5 am to get ready for work.
Dropped my daughter off to write one of her finals. She is writing two proctored exams for her distance education classes she was doing this semester. She will head back in the fall to Vancouver to complete her final semester at Simon Fraser University. When I dropped her off, I headed to the walking track at the fitness center and complete 5kms. Only took me 56 minutes. I'm speeding up!
It's been a wonderful day, filled with so many great things. Lunch break shared with a great co-worker, last class in a course I've greatly enjoyed, +4 C out, Donna added me to her friend list and left me a lovely note on my page, Kathy is doing awesome and Marla has joined us in positive blogging. What more can a person ask for , laughter, happiness and good friends and family.
So if anyone else out there in SP land wants to join us in positive blogging jump right in and have a blast.

I loved the quote that came in todays spmail...

The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.

Wanda - I also am glad I joined you all in your positive blogging. Sometimes though it's hard to have lots of positives going in our day...but it's still nice to write things out...then they don't seem as bad, ever notice that?
You sounded like you were a little tired but in a good way. I'm glad you got your walk in too. My day was too short but I did manage to get an early morning quick walk in.
I liked that Martin Luther King Jr. quote! Thanks for sharing that.
