The countdown is on now for Christmas. We've made it through Q and Shy's birthdays and now it's on to Christmas.
It's a good thing I have today off work, now I can finish up my Christmas shopping as well as make the promised "nutmeg logs". I had good intentions of getting them made yesterday, but never pulled it off.

The nice thing is that I only work Tues, Wed and Thursday this week. We are closed from the 24 to 28th. Then I work Tues, Wed and Thursday of the following week and have Friday off. Yay...short weeks.

Garry and I (and Quin) are traveling to Red Deer on the 31 to spend New Years with some of Garry's siblings. We should have a great time.

My Positives:
Survived the birthday celebrations.
My shopping is almost complete.
I have today off work to give me time to finish things up.
Friday is a closed day, which really helps me out with time to prepare for our Christmas eve meal.
It's stopped snowing...at least for now!
Bills are all paid, and it's payday this Wednesday for me.
I'm blessed with health and so much more.

Have a wonderful Monday.
hugs,
Wanda

My baby's birthday today

Saturday, December 18, 2010

The past 23 years of having Shyra as our daughter have been wonderful blessings. She is such an old soul and gentle person. Her name means "my song", and indeed she is the grand finale.
We had a wonderful even last night celebrating her birthday a day early, but celebrating with lots of laughter and sharing. Her siblings and their friends all attended. It's amazing the stories that come out...or should I say, in some cases, the "truth". lol
I'm still tired this morning, but I've much to get accomplished today, so no dragging my butt.

My positives:
My three children that have grown into amazing young adults.
Sleep.
My staff party this evening, which we will make a drop in appearance at. It's a come and go, so that suits us perfectly.
It's stopped snowing, so I can get out and about to do my errands today.
Being incredible blessed in so many ways. Thank you to all of you who bless my day with your comments and visits.

Hugs,
Wanda

Wanda, enjoy your Monday off from work! HOORAY! So nice to celebrate birthdays! Another year of miracles behind them!

What are nutmeg logs? Are they cakes or something with a nutmeg aroma to freshen the air about you?

Hugs!!

A belated happy birthday wish to Shy, she sounds like a wonderful young lady. I am glad to be back on my home computer once again, Jeff is my go to person and he always seems to get things working for me, my DS called tonight to ask me if I'd killed the computer yet, he's so funny. Have a wonderful week.

Happy Birthday Shy! It's my mom's 81st birthday today. When I said "Happy 81st" she screamed! The number scared her. I hope Shy makes it to 81 as well, so that she can scream, too. I consider myself blessed with some wonderful young adults as well, so I'm "feeling ya." Hope that your holiday season is perking along nicely. It's a lovely season for relationships. Thoughts of our friendship are providing a nice warm glow in my season. I appreciate your thoughts and prayers and I'm hoping to catch up on the holiday break. Sending you all my best wishes.
Love,
Nancy

It's Friday, It's Friday, YAY!

Friday, December 17, 2010

Yay, it's Friday.

A busy week at work, a busy week for shoveling snow, and now a fun and busy weekend.

It's Shyra's birthday tomorrow, but we are doing a birthday get-together tonight at our place as she and her boyfriend are heading to a concert tomorrow evening.
There are going to be around 10 people here this evening for supper.

Garry's brother spent the night with us last night as he was in town on business. We confirmed our arrangements with him for New Year's eve. We'll be traveling down to Red Deer where we will join the rest of the siblings and bring in the New Year together.

I've much to accomplish this weekend as next Friday (Christmas eve) is when we celebrate with our big Christmas meal. We celebrate the Ukranian traditions, which means I've got lots of work ahead of me.

My Positives:
It's stopped snowing, I don't have to shovel snow this morning.
Garry has a day off work today, so he has kindly offered(at my suggestion *grin*) to do some of my errands that need to be done for this evening. Yay.
Shy's birthday.
I got 50 points on the wheel this morning. I got 50 points last week too! The point fairies are blessing me.
Although tired this morning, due to the late night visiting that was happening, I'm ready to face the day with a positive attitude.

Have a wonderfully fabulous Friday,
Hugs,
Wanda

Enough already!

Thursday, December 16, 2010

It has been snowing for over 48 hours now. I'm done in with all the shoveling. There appears to be about 18 inches of more snow out there this morning again.Thank you Lord for providing me with a way of burning calories...can we do something else now????

It will be a quick visit to SP this morning as I've got to bundle up and head out for my morning exercise. I just might wake Garry up to help me...oh joy, he is going to love that*grin*.

My positives:
The world is super quiet with all this snow.
I'm blessed with a warm place to live, sleep and be.
I'm getting exercise...even if it's exercise that doesn't thrill me.
I'm grateful for my blessings and working on loving all this snow!

Have a wonderful day, thanks for stopping by for a visit.
Hugs,
Wanda

Oh, WANDA, you are by far a greater woman than I. 48 hours!!! Someone would have to take anything that could be turn into a weapon out of my apartment...seriously.

Thoug
h I must admit, the quietness of a sn*wfall is quite beautiful...and don't tell anyone I just wrote that!

Travel safely...shovel safely...Blessings.

We're getting the snow now here in Cincinnati. It's great to put a positive spin on what can definitely be a big downer...Stay warm, dry, and active!

Getting bored with this type of strength training are we? ;-)
Seriously though, I'm thinking of you. We are now in for ice rather than snow so they say, what with it raining and sleeting at the moment and it all set to freeze overnight, creating a nice icy sheen over everything. Oh boy!

Slippedy doo dah slippedy ay!
My oh my, what a slippery day!
Plenty of ice now heading our way.
Slippedy doo dah, slippedy ay.

Hugs,
Lex xxx

Take care and stay safe - while snow may look gorgeous, it can indeed be dangerous, as well.....

PS: if you could put a good word in to the weather "gods" and (keep any of that from heading my way that'd be great! Have several plans for Sunday where I'm hearing my locale could get something......as one who HATES to have plans cancelled and suffers greatly from cabin fever - yikes!)

Missing...one world...it's buried under snow!

Wednesday, December 15, 2010

Oh My gosh! I just took me an hour to shovel the snow from my driveway and it needs to be done again soon! I couldn't even pull in the driveway when I got home the drifts were so deep. I'm zonked now!

To make matters even better...I have no phone service. Deader than a door nail. Thank goodness for my onstar in the truck! The roads are absolutely trecherous. I zipped out to the truck to phone Shy to warn her to be super careful on the way home from work.

My positives:

I don't have to go anywhere for the rest of the day.
Garry will help me clean the driveway and sidewalk when he gets home.
I've burned my share of calories today!
I can eat my chocoloate chip cookie and not feel guilty! lol
I have a warm house to stay in and I'm blessed.

Have a great day,
Hugs,
Wanda

Wanda, sending positive vibes for restoration of phone service! I need to remember the date of this blog for those days when it sn*ws here! :)

Be safe, my friend. Blessings.

Oh Boy! That must have been some amount of snow! We are being threatened with more from Friday on. We're being told that we will have an icy blast carrying on the snow until well into the new year. They are now claiming the worst winter for 60 years or something, and we aren't halfway through it yet. *shakes head*

I hope the phone is fixed soon. Will it be power line issues?
Hugs,
Lex xxx
