One more day of work....

One more day of work and then 4 days off! Yay, Christmas is almost here. I'm as ready as I'm going to be at this stage of the game. I have a few last minute grocery things to pick up tomorrow and then I'm set.

Looking back over the past year, I see a year filled with busy, a year filled with changes and a year filled with multiple blessings. I'm looking forward to a new year filled with many changes, many blessings and perhaps not quite so busy!

It's one of those days where there is not much to report. Yesterday was a typical busy day at work. Then home to do some relaxing.
The temperatures were cold enough yesterday morning to cause the staff entrance security lock to not work, which meant that everytime someone arrived at work, I would have to run down two flights of stairs and let them in and then walk back up a second set of stairs to get back to my desk. All I can say is that I burned a lot of calories yesterday with all those stairs. YAY! Temperatures are still cold this morning, so I'll find out when I get to work today whether we have a repeat of yesterday or whether facilities has been able to fix the issue.

My positives:
Unexpected exercise in my day yesterday. Always a bonus at this time of year.
I only have a couple of stocking stuffers to pick up and then I really am finished shopping for Christmas.
Gifts are all wrapped and ready to place under the tree.
Meal preparations are all in place for Christmas eve.
Pay day today...which means that I can ensure that I start the new year with no bills. YAY!
Life...it is a blessing and we are incredibly blessed as a family.

The shortest day of the year...yay...tomorrow the days begin to get longer!
The once in a life time event of the lunar eclipse was one I really wanted to see. I was awake several times through the night, but each time I attempted to get a glimpse of the event, I wasn't able to. Not that the skies weren't perfectly clear where we were, but the location of the moon and our windows weren't working together. Siggghhhh! I did not want to get dressed and head out into the cold to observe, so I will join the ranks of the many who didn't see this event.

I have a busy day at work today. My selectors went in store shopping on Friday and I have several boxes of new books to receive today and prepare for processing. Yay, the budgets are getting spent.

My positives:

I'm finished with my shopping for Christmas.
My nutmeg logs are all made and iced...my son will be thrilled.
We are closed Christmas eve, so it won't be a rush to make Christmas eve supper.
Pay day tomorrow.
How blessed we are to have a warm place to live, food on our table and to be able to buy things.
Sharing.
Friends and family.

The countdown is on now for Christmas. We've made it through Q and Shy's birthdays and now it's on to Christmas.
It's a good thing I have today off work, now I can finish up my Christmas shopping as well as make the promised "nutmeg logs". I had good intentions of getting them made yesterday, but never pulled it off.

The nice thing is that I only work Tues, Wed and Thursday this week. We are closed from the 24 to 28th. Then I work Tues, Wed and Thursday of the following week and have Friday off. Yay...short weeks.

Garry and I (and Quin) are traveling to Red Deer on the 31 to spend New Years with some of Garry's siblings. We should have a great time.

My Positives:
Survived the birthday celebrations.
My shopping is almost complete.
I have today off work to give me time to finish things up.
Friday is a closed day, which really helps me out with time to prepare for our Christmas eve meal.
It's stopped snowing...at least for now!
Bills are all paid, and it's payday this Wednesday for me.
I'm blessed with health and so much more.

My baby's birthday today

The past 23 years of having Shyra as our daughter have been wonderful blessings. She is such an old soul and gentle person. Her name means "my song", and indeed she is the grand finale.
We had a wonderful even last night celebrating her birthday a day early, but celebrating with lots of laughter and sharing. Her siblings and their friends all attended. It's amazing the stories that come out...or should I say, in some cases, the "truth". lol
I'm still tired this morning, but I've much to get accomplished today, so no dragging my butt.

My positives:
My three children that have grown into amazing young adults.
Sleep.
My staff party this evening, which we will make a drop in appearance at. It's a come and go, so that suits us perfectly.
It's stopped snowing, so I can get out and about to do my errands today.
Being incredible blessed in so many ways. Thank you to all of you who bless my day with your comments and visits.

Happy Birthday Shy! It's my mom's 81st birthday today. When I said "Happy 81st" she screamed! The number scared her. I hope Shy makes it to 81 as well, so that she can scream, too. I consider myself blessed with some wonderful young adults as well, so I'm "feeling ya." Hope that your holiday season is perking along nicely. It's a lovely season for relationships.
