Good Morning everyone,

Usually warmer weather here. We are supposed to get up to +16 today and tomorrow and then it takes a major nosedive! I'll take all the warm weather we can get. Each day like this makes winter one day shorter! Sorry Marla...but I really am not a big fan of winter. If winter was only a couple of months maybe I could be persuaded that it's wonderful, but when it last 5 to 6 months...not so much!

Things are pretty good at work. I am able to go all day without having to wear my respirator mask. That is, provided I stay upstairs. The stair wells are still bad for me and the lower level in the children's area. The plus side, it's getting better for me to breath.

My positives:
Beautiful warm weather.
Breathing much better at work.
Catching up on the back log, although there is still lots to do, it's not so overwhelming as it was.
Hopefully time for a walk on my lunch break today. Yesterday, I had to settle for a shorter walk outside than I had planned. But that's okay, at least I got outside.
Bills are all paid.
Just the insurance payment to come out of the bank and then the rest is for Christmas.
I'm learning to really appreciate all the little things in my daily life that make my life such a blessing.

Have a wonderful day, keep on moving forward towards your goals.

Like you, Wanda, winter's not my favorite...and here it lasts about 3 months...which is 2 months and 30 days too long for me! :)

Glad your breathing better at work...Tonight is our big Open House for the new office and for the RV...though it starts in 21 minutes and the RV hasn't arrived...so...hmmmm...wonder how long I'll have to set up??? :)

Oh ... so envious of your 'warmer weather' ... we're down to zero and single digits at peak of the day and I've been scraping frost off my windshield! YIKES - so fast that happened. I still have herbs and kale and leeks in the garden to save!

Time to focus on me.

Wednesday, November 03, 2010

Now that the move is over for the library, it's time to turn my focus on to me. It's time to pay more attention to my nutrition and exercise.
I've let things slide for the past few weeks, as there just seemed to be too many other things demanding my attention. When I did have time for myself, exercising was the last thing I wanted to do. Today that gets reversed.
I started back a couple of days ago putting exercise back into my routine, and already I'm feeling more enthused about it.
I need to stay out of the staff room at work though, there is so much junk food in there right now. Why do people think that they need to bring their left over Halloween candy to work!
It's supposed to be a nice day out today, so I'm thinking I will take myself for a bit of a walk during my lunch break. During my coffee breaks, we have lots of stairs that I can take advantage of...well on second thought, the only ones that I can use at the moment are the main stairs. The stairwells are still off limits to me, if I don't want to have to wear my mask. I'll work something out.

My Positives:
Feeling a renew energy to get back on track.
I'm feeling positive about me once again.
Weather is unbelievably wonderful for this time of year.
I can get outdoors and do some walking still.
Made a start at clearing up some of the orders that have been waiting for me to input and get sent at work.
I have my health and a body that will move as I want it to...I just need to want to! And that, I'm working on.

Have a wonderful Wednesday...keep on smiling, it makes people wonder what you are up to.

As always, your blog leaves me feeling like I am not the only one who needs to get back on track and now we can do it together! Just reading your motivation to do stairs on coffee breaks and walks on lunch breaks, makes me want to just fit those small walks into my life as well!

How easily 'other things' take precedence over ourselves - oh boy - do I hear you. Glad you've seen it and are acting on it! Congrats.

Wanda, I totally understand how that happens! :) Thanks for the inspiration to move! Actually went out, despite the cold here, and took a brief walk...just to be out and about felt good! Okay...back to cleaning my office for the Open House tomorrow evening...Yikes!! One corner to go! :)

    Hi Wanda,

I know why the Halloween candy is at work. People try to get the sweet temptation out of their houses, so where's the logical place to get rid of it? At work! LOLOL

Our weather is fabulous too! Unseasonably warm, sunny. Glorious!
Makes getting out for a walk an absolute pleasure. :-)

I'm smiling! See?

Survived opening day!

Tuesday, November 02, 2010

Yay, opening day is behind us. I was pretty much confined to my department for the greater part of the day unless I wanted to wear my respirator mask, but that was okay. Second level should be fine for me to go with out it. Yesterday, being opening day of our new library, meant that there were lots of people around that were wearing perfumes so add that to the mix of off gassing from carpets etc. meant difficult breathing for me out on the floors.
We had a fabulous turn out. The first hour of being open we had over 500 persons in the building. The flow kept up pretty much the whole day. The comments were mostly all positive, which is exciting. I will try and get some pictures to post later for you.

My Positives:
I should be able to work in the new building as long as I'm careful of where I go and stay away from crowds.
My desk is semi-organized at work...at least I can work and find things relatively easy. lol
I'm back to my regular hours, although I must admit that I kinda didn't mind not going in so early. Might have to give that option some consideration.
It's nice to be back working with my co-workers again, I still feel a bit out of the loop, but that will catch up.
Being alive, and being so blessed.

Have a wonderful day,

I'm glad that you are finally able to settle in at work in your new building, and that you are mask free in your own area at least.
It sounds like things are going well so far.
Good. :-)

Looking forward to seeing your photos - phew - you're on the other side of the move. I hope you can take your mask off really soon (good that you can wear it ... great that your body lets you know there are chemicals in the air so you can protect yourself)! We went through a studio reno last year so I know how discombobulating it can be ...

Wanda, sounds like a great reception by the community for the new library! Can't wait to see photos...You inspired me to organize my desk at work...I have one more section to do and my office will be close to where I want it! WOOHOO!!! Now if I could only be that inspired when I get home...

Hugs and blessings.

November 1

Monday, November 01, 2010

Wow, only two months left in this year...could someone tell me where the past 10 months have gone???

A new month, a new day, a new week. All these "news" add up to "new" opportunities to be all you can be.

Today is the day that I get to head to the new library for a full day's work. I've got my trusty mask with me and I'm planning on having a great day. I'm trusting that I will be able to be mask free in the department that I work in. We are on the second floor and should be far enough away from any ongoing construction in the community center or which are part.
Today is also opening day for our new library. We welcome the city into our new "Community Livingroom". It's beautiful and very welcoming and I'm sure that our patrons will think so too.

My Positives:
A new stage in Garry's and my lives...we are actually empty nesters (for at least a time). Quin moved into his own apartment on the weekend. He'll be sharing an apartment in the city with a friend and co-worker. A nice new venture for him.
Handed out all the Halloween candy last night by 8pm. We had around 40 kids at the door. Only two little ones around 5/6 yrs old, the rest were older. I miss the little wee ones.
Weather is supposed to remain mild for the next few days. Cold at night, dropping to below zero, but during the day, not so bad.
I'm excited about finally getting the opportunity to sort my desk out at work and get organized. I know I have several orders waiting my attention.
Being so incredibly blessed each day.

Have a wonderful Monday, be your own best friend.

I love the libraries and the smell of books, especially the ones that have a coffee bar in them and some comfy chairs. Hope the construction settles down soon. Have a great Tuesday!

    Empty nest? I can't wait!

I cannot express how much I dearly love the library system. I have two books in the bed and one on the dresser right now...

Have a great November!

I've just caught up with all your recent blogs. I am so sorry that you are having trouble requiring respirators and so forth, and I really hope the construction stops soon and that it in turn makes things easier for you at work. :-)
I am also very pleased that the move is complete, and I hope that you can breathe easy in your own area of the library at least.
Your sense of humour really carries you through your days doesn't it? :-) How did the Darth Vader's Mother costume go down? LOL
Take care,

Congratulations on becoming empty nesters! What an accomplishment to have all your children out in the world testing the waters around them - surfing the waves successfully, etc. I did my scheduling yesterday and had to come to terms as well with the fact that there are only so many days and weeks left to tie up projects taken on at the start of the year. Hang on tight. Another month begins! Here's to all our 'high hopes' and hard work that's gone before. Have a great start to the week!

Happy Halloween !

Sunday, October 31, 2010

'Tis the last day of October and all the little ones will be coming knocking on the door this evening. I love the little ones all dressed up and barely able to walk in their costumes, they are so cute.
I'm thinking that the demographics of our area is changing though. Last year it was mostly teenagers coming round. Very few little guys. So not sure what to expect this year.

I didn't make it on to SP yesterday at all. No posting, no blog, no checking in. Friday was an exhausting day at work and yesterday was spent attempting to catch up on things at home. I finally got for groceries...we were so out of fresh veggies and fruit. I'd open the fridge and it was almost empty. No milk, no sandwich fixings for Garry, nada. Yep, it was time to make the time to go and get some food. Grocery shopping took me almost two and half hours yesterday. I had two stores that I needed to head to and between everyone else doing the same thing, it was busy.

This morning, I need to head over to the girls place and feed the animals. The girls and their brother and his girlfriend did the dressing up and headed out to friends to party. Because they were going into the city and they don't drink and drive, they made arrangements to stay in the city overnight. "Grandma" gets to babysit. LOL.

My Positives:
I slept in late this morning, well late for me...8am!
I had a good productive day at home yesterday.
My fridge has food in it once again.
Snow is all gone from the yard, still some on the back deck, which is weird.
I'm excited about starting at the new library tomorrow. I'm taking my lovely respirator mask with me, in case I need it. But the plan is to stay as much as possible in our department with the doors closed. We are on the second floor and in one corner with windows that can be opened...so hopefully any odors will not be as strong where we are.
This Monday evening is our last study group session. I've enjoyed them, but am looking forward to one less commitment.
My family and friends for all the support they give me.
God, who so graciously blesses me with life each day.

Have a wonderful Serenity Sunday,

Sounds like a busy weekend all around - maybe it's that time of the year (I seem to be saying this more and more often now though)? Happy Hallowe'en! Hope you get some 'little ones' hobbling up to your door this evening!

Wanda, I was thinking of you on Friday since they tore out the out kitchen counters at work to be replaced with neon pink ones. The smell of the cement was overwhelming. Well, we had the same goal yesterday - groceries! Today I'm cooking up the last of the farm veggies...now I have to buy them at a market tho' I'm going to investigate what I heard is a winter's farmer market not far from where I work.

Hope you enjoy your day!!
