Sun is shining...snow is melting...

The sun was shining and the snow was melting today, warm enough to go out for a walk and not have to even wear a winter jacket!
Just a nice relaxing day today, enjoying family time.
Laundry's all done, preparations are complete for the up coming work week, what more could you ask for.
Thrilled to have Marla joining us in positive blogging. It's so wonderful to read about the positives in others lives and to see them leaping forward in their commitment to a healthier life.
It's amazing when you see the ripple effect created by sharing a positive moment.
Hope you all have had a nice relaxing day to enjoy and that you found your positive in the day.

Corporate wellness session....

Today I had my assessment for the Corporate Wellness session that I am a part of. I got so much valueable information from the nutritionalist. She had already checked out Sparkpeople before our meeting and was able to confirm with me that SP is awesome! She was very impressed with the site and had only a few recommendations for me.
1) that I should be consuming as close to 1500 calories a day as possible now, seeing as I have greatly increased the amount of activity I am doing. My range was 1200-1550, I have now adjusted it to reflect the true calories that I am burning in a week and was thrilled to see that SP recommends 1250-1600 calories a day. I hadn't thought to change the amount of calories I burned in a week before DUH!
2) she provided me with a Vegetarian food chart (the equivalent to the National food chart but for vegetarians) I had not seen one before and now have a much better idea of what I should be consuming each day.
3) she also provided me with some very easy ways to increase the protein in my diet.
4) and the best.....I need to make sure that I eat an evening snack!
I was not doing my metabolism any favors by not eating from 6pm until 6 am the next morning.

Next was my meeting with the fitness techs. Wow, my legs feel like noodles now! I definitely got my exercise in for today. Not only did I have to shovel snow twice this morning before even getting out of the yard, I walked a mile on the walking track, bicycled at increasing more difficult settings for 10 minutes, did several exercises on the stablity ball, lifted dumbells, did pushups and begged for mercy!
I was thrilled that they were very willing to devise a fitness plan incorporating lots of strength exercises I am presently doing, but stepping it up a notch to challenge me. The best part is they devised the plan so that I can still work from home instead of having to drive to a gym. I knew that I would not be able to make the time commitment on a consistent basis to have to go out to a gym. I will still continue to go to aquasizes twice a week and do all my walking.
The nicest thing they said was " you are already doing great and Sparkpeople is working for you". Thank you SparkPeople!

Now I have to go and figure out how to calculate all the exercising I completed today!

    Wanda...I enjoyed reading about your session today. It sounds like you've already got things in order for the most part...which I knew all along.     Sounds like your assessment went really well, and I knew they would think you were already doing great. I knew it...lol
At one point I had to change my calories ranges too to account for all the exercising I was doing too... I think it's so great how SP has this all figured out for us... YEA! Sparkpeople!!! lol

You go girl... You are doing great...

I just noticed that I wasn't getting notice of your blogs again... Not sure why. Sorry I missed you yesterday... But thanks for the reminder about meditation. I think I will give this a try myself... Couldn't hurt. And Thanks for the Prayers too... Really need those...

What a wonderful day off work today!
I had time to correspond with friends, which I always enjoy doing.
Despite still having to get up at my usual time in the morning in order to get my daughter to work, I was able to come home and crawl back into back for an extra hours sleep!
Still sitting gingerly today, but went for a nice walk, which helped to stretch out the muscles a bit. Had to improvise a bit on my strength training, but that motivated me to switch up my exercises by trying new ones.
I'm excited as tomorrow is the day I go for my sessions with the nutritionalist and fitness tech who will be overseeing my progress in the Corporate wellness session. I'll keep you posted as I receive information.
Had time to meditate today, being quiet and still within ones self really allows you to let go of any negative stuff in your life.
Loved having the time today to read the posts and catch up on some blogs I've been neglecting.
All in all a very nice day!

    Well, Wanda...I'm glad you found some good in having your boo boo & being off work! Sounds like you made the day very productive after all. I've been finding myself turning the tv off & just sitting in my recliner relaxing, thinking....hubby will come in & ask me why I have the tv off...what's wrong...I enjoy that quiet time too. Now that spring is here I'm starting to use some of that time to walk outside & have my quiet time with nature. I hope your boo boo heals real quick & you get back on top of things as usual. Oh what an interesting day today. Due to my lack of coordination at aquasizes last night, I slipped on the ladder getting into the pool...made a very rapid entrance, I am a little tender on the underside of my body. Makes sitting down an interesting experience. LOL. I have a bruise and some swelling about the diameter of a baseball on the underside of my thigh. It catches you just perfectly as you sit! Positive out of all of this...I get tomorrow off work, because sitting is rather painful and I have to sit all day at my job. Right now, I am typing standing up!
It has been a source of amusement for my co-workers today...they really do care, but you have to admit there is a great deal of humor in watching someone whincing and trying to sit very precariously on their chair, then stand up and type for awhile before trying to sit down again.
I did manage to get in almost an hour of walking today though, it helped to stretch things out abit.
Woo Hoo, a great positive ....income tax rebate arrived today...yes...now I can go and pay off my RRSP loan!
I need to leave the standing up and typing for now, I will survive, humor intact, body healing and a grateful heart that I don't have to sit all day tomorrow at work. Yippee and unexpected 3 day weekend.

    Wanda, Sweetheart, you fell into water, didn't you? Or did you land on stairs? That explains the bruising of a tender area. Ow. Ow. But ya gotta admit, the standing, sitting gingerly, standing, (repeat) is kinda funny.


I do want to tell you how I smile with pleasure at the sight of a new you in the pictures when I visit your SparkPage! I'm glad we're sharing this journey, Wanda.

April goals

Extra walking today...from work I walked to where the course I am taking was held, then back to work again and because the sun was shining and it was only zero C out today, went for a walk after work. (did you enjoy the walk Kathy and Marla? lol)
Aquasizes tonight makes for a great day of exercising.

My April goals:

Exercise 2450 minutes (off to a great start already)
Eliminate: 8 pounds
Increase Water intake to 11 glasses daily.
Spread the spark to four new people (1 down, 3 to go!)
Continue to blog a daily positive from my day.
Share my goals with my teams, perhaps it will encourage others to set their goals.

Great idea on setting goals...
I just did that on the April Challenge that the 50+ team has going. I should post them on a blog so that I can look back to see that I am on track... great idea... Thanks for sharing that.

Oh and FYI we have a weekly challenge going too called One pound gone challenge... It get us motivated for the week to work really hard to get rid of just one pound... Which for some of us it a big challenge. If you are interested in getting a motivating email from Cheryl and others... let her know... All you do is do your best for the week and then let us know how you do on your weigh in...
Ok now I'm gonna go Warm Marla up from that walk... I know that she loves the cold, but that was COLD!!! She's drinking a hot tottie (sp) tonight to help her cold... lol that should help huh?
