Municipal elections, I wonder who won.

Tuesday, October 19, 2010

Yesterday was municipal elections day in Alberta. I have no idea yet who won, as the only results that were shown on tv last night were for Edmonton. Perhaps the smaller cities/towns came on later, but my bed was calling to me and I didn't stay up long enough to watch for further results. Oh well, I'll find out today. It will be interesting to see what "upsets" occured, if any.

I thought I was only going to have 2 more weeks of study group when yesterday rolled around, but I got home from work to a phone message to say that last night's study group had been changed to a workshop and our study group lesson has been postponed. So still two more weeks. The workshop was interesting none the less.

Yesterdays trip over to the new library was good. I managed to go to the phone training and a quick trip to our new department. But not able to spend any time else where. Our department looks much smaller now that we have all the desks etc in there. But I'm sure once we have everything organized and all the boxes unloaded, it won't look so small. We have lots of windows, which will make working in there wonderful.

My positives:
An opportunity to see my desk in a new location.
Telephone training...hopefully I will remember it all when it comes time to use the phone!
A lovely walk back from the new location yesterday. It's about a 20 minute walk, the sun was shining, the breeze was blowing...a perfect walking day.
Interesting workshop last night.
Fridge repair guys are coming tomorrow. Meanwhile the fridge temperature is flucuating between low and high temperatures. I'll hold off buying groceries that need refrigeration until its fixed.
I'm blessed with another day of life...what can I make of today???

Have a wonderful day, count your blessings.

Hugs,
Wanda

Hi Wanda, hope you get your fridge repaired and back in working order. You'll have to post a picture of your new work area if you can. I am feeling better, just still have an irrating cough that doesn't want to go away, but I here lots of people have the same problem. We so enjoyed our GS's company, he likes to pick on grandpa and of course grandpa likes to pick on him. Oh, telephone training is so much fun, thank goodness the jobs I had there weren't too many lines to keep track of. Hope your evening was good and tomorrow will be a great day. My internet has not been working hardly at all since Sunday, I am lucky to be on here right now, but will just keep trying.

Hugs,
Shirl

My memory for technical stuff is awful. I'd have forgotten all the phone info five mins after leaving the building. :-)
It sounds like you had a very pleasant day. :-)

Our new library is supposed to be declared a construction free zone today, which means that staff will be able to sit at their desks and work. Up until now they have only been able to perform "set-up" duties. Althought the computer system is still not up and running so it will be a slow start.
I get to stay at the old building for this week anyway. We are still receiving deliveries and mail there. This morning though, I will go with everyone else over to the new building as we have telephone training on our new system taking place. Hopefully, I'll also be able to get a good look at our evacuation route, so that we can put plans in place.

Had a great weekend. Enjoyed the visit with my brother and SIL. We did go to Costco yesterday, but talked my brother into getting his own card. Now they can can and shop when ever they want.

My positives:
Only two more weeks of the study group I'm in. It was supposed to be done at the end of September, but due to many delays, it is running until the end of October. This is a struggle for me with everything else going on. I'm happy to have had the experience of this group, but feel no calling to join in the second session.
Warm weather and sunshine predicted for this week also.
Greatly enjoyed the family time this past weekend.
Fridge repair service will hopefully be here today, in the mean time the temp in my fridge has begun working again. It had risen to 60 degrees in the fridge and 20 in the deep freezer, this morning, it's sitting at 37 and 5...much better, but still not the right temperatures. At least I shouldn't need to worry about the food spoiling.
Having a grateful heart and a positive attitude...sure I work on them, but it's nice to know that both are becoming a way of life...the norm.
Friends and family.
Being given the gift of today...now it's up to me to make it into a blessing.

Hugs,
Wanda

Wanda, enjoy your short stint as a cartographer today! :) I hope your phone system is a lot easier than ours...though I just push buttons since I got no training on it. :/

Have a beautifully marvelous Monday!

I'm sure that you will make it a blessing. It will be nice (I'm envisioning your future) when you are all settled in to your new digs a couple of months from now. You can look back and say "phew, that was a little intense!" Keeping you on your toes. I hope your training goes well, I hope you get to map out your route and I hope the day is filled with unexpected joy. Cheers to you on this Motivation Monday!

Nancy

how quickly a weekend passes...

Sunday, October 17, 2010

It's Sunday already. How quickly a weekend passes when you are having fun.
My brother and SIL arrived in town on Friday. They are having a mini-vacation and decided to stay at a hotel for the weekend. We got together yesterday morning for breakfast and had planned on having them over for supper, but the decision was made to go out for supper also. Kaeli and her boyfriend joined us at Boston Pizza, we had a great time. It's been awhile since Kaeli had seen Layne and Kim, so was great that she was able to join us. I kept within my calorie range nicely...had a Baja salad without any meat added to it and two bites of Garry's dessert at the end of the evening. We ended up sitting there for almost 3 hours visiting and enjoying ourselves.
Today they are heading back home, but want to make a Costco stop before going. So we will meet them there so that they can use our membership to get in.

Not sure what the rest of our day will hold. I do know we have a project on the go that requires some finishing, so perhaps that will get done today...if not, there is always during the week.

My positives:
Enjoying the visit with Layne and Kim.
Spending time with Kaeli and Matt.
Beautiful sunny day, even if it is a little on the cool side...it's still sunny!
Later starting hours tomorrow morning...and I think for the rest of my work week. It was supposed to be later hours last week, but only 2 of the days were.
Time for reading.
We discovered that we have extended warranty on our fridge and that we can get it repaired under warranty. It's a double door fridge and the clips at the top of the fridge broke off (I guess just from wear). Now the fridge doesn't keep a proper temperature...we called the warranty service and they are sending someone out. YAY!
We checked out the price of the pedastals for my washer and dryer and they aren't as expensive as we thought they might be. Now we just have to see if it's a possibility to get them.
Life...so many blessings. I'm happy to be alive each day.

Have a wonderful and serene Sunday.

Hugs,
Wanda

Half way mark in the month already. At work , I am now sitting in a huge basically empty space at a folding table with my laptop. Sure feels strange. One more week of being there and then I get to move over to the new location (I think

Monday, I will be heading over there for a couple of hours to see how I do and to attend training on our new telephone system. I'll hopefully be able to also do a walk through of the evacuation routes that we need to have in place for November 1. Sally and I had a great meeting with the county on what they already have in place for the complex and that has been a great help.

The girls and I had dinner out together before heading to Costco for their shopping. It was nice to have a "girl's time". I love that they want to spend time with Mom.

My brother and SIL arrived last night and are having a mini-vacation by staying at one of our local hotels. We are getting together with them for lunch today and will see if they want to come over for supper tonight. I've got a large pan of lasagna in the freezer that would make a great meal for more people than just Garry and I.

My positives:
Family time.
Being invited to have dinner out last night with the girls.
Our move at the library is going fairly smoothly and might even be a bit ahead of schedule.
Sunshine and nice temperatures.
A great sleep last night, now I'm ready for the day.
Our mortgage papers are all renewed, we are good to go once again.
Having one vehicle has been working out pretty good.
I have a new day ahead of me to make into a fantastic day, just by making choices that serve my higher being. I got the power! lol

Have a wonderful, fun filled day. Let your inner child out for some playtime.

Hugs,
Wanda

I think I'm going to have to make some post it notes to spatter around the house to remind me to find that silly. I've seen it around here a bit this morning. I've done a little playing. I just think that I'll forget the mission today if I don't see reminders all over. Thanks for your support. You are a very fine friend. HAve fun with your "peeps" and relax and enjoy your well deserved break in the action.
Love you.

October 15th

Friday, October 15, 2010

Yay, it's Friday. This week has seemed to go on forever! It's been a busy week, but a long one.

My out of town brother and SIL are arriving in town tonight for the weekend. They are having a mini get-away, so will be staying in a hotel, but we'll have a chance to get together for a nice visit.

The girls have roped in my assistance in going to Costco after work today so they can do some shopping. Works for me, they get the items they need at less expense and I get to spend some time with my girls.

Temperatures are on the cool side this morning, but that's only supposed to last for the a couple of days and then the weather warms up once again. This is the strangest weather patterns I've ever seen. October has been nicer weather than August or September. I'm not complaining mind you, I'm thrilled. Each day like this is one day less of winter.

My positives:
It's Friday!
A weekend to look forward to, time with family.
No major projects planned, that doesn't mean though that there aren't any that have to be done. lol
Garry has tomorrow off work, yay.
God, who brings to light information that I need to access and helps me to absorb it and move forward with it.

Have a Fabulous Friday, keep being excited about your life.

Hugs,
Wanda
